i do feel like people who arent reading/watching naruto in a critical manner very easily fall for the narrative that sasuke is somehow overreacting when it comes to his trauma, or that he’s some sort of spoiled brat lashing out when he has far more trauma than n&s, trauma which adults failed to address or work to solve, and a lot of people end up falling for the whole villainizing of sasuke like “oh sasukes abusive and bad” or “sasukes a bitch and a horrible person” when he was really just a child who had been manipulated and traumatized and used his entire life and had no one to turn to for help, and no idea he even COULD turn to someone for help. sasuke’s story is terrible and sad and horrifying and a lot of people don’t even understand that because of kishimoto’s horrible writing. naruto and sakura (sakura moreso) disregard sasukes feelings and trauma several times and if they had tried to reach out to him emotionally or supportively its possible sasuke wouldn’t have gone all “villain” or whatever you want to call it. sasuke was not a nice person, but he had no reason to be. his teammates were both intentionally and unintentionally antagonistic towards him throughout the whole series, and it’s really never addressed as such, just as “sasukes not right and naruto and sakura are the good guys.” the only person who even minimally tries to understand sasuke before he leaves konoha is kakashi and he’s so horrible at emotions and did in such a lackluster manner that it didn’t end up helping sasuke at all. i think that people need to start looking at sasuke’s actions both through sasuke’s eyes and through the eyes of someone clearly observing a victim of trauma and abuse with multiple possible mental illnesses. i care about naruto and sakura but i care about sasuke more because its clear how his suffering has been ignored and pushed aside by both kishimoto and the naruto characters. i do not mean to belittle naruto’s abuse and trauma, but it is substantially different than sasuke’s, as is the way he handles it, so it should be viewed differently. in this essay i w
the inherent romanticism of “i left but you didn’t stop me / i should’ve stopped you” never fails to take me out like there is simply no reality in which you can view that kind of exchange as platonic
guys this is a real leaked interview pls like and share
[Image Description: Screenshot of the notes iPhone app. The note title is “real”, and the contents state, “interviewer: is it true that sasuke is inspired from a high school crush that you had during repressed homosexual years. kishimoto: yes”. End image description.]
Naruto tumblr in 2020 is kind of crazy because some of y’all are like “I’ve been sexually attracted to Kakashi for nearly half of my life” and then some of y’all are like “dismantle the military state: here’s why Sasuke was wronged” and then the remainder is just Gaara stans
