having adhd is just your brain refusing to let you do anything, fun or not, then having the audacity to make you feel like your boredom is going to kill you
earlier today, police from every city in serbia sent reinforcements to belgrade hours before the protests started. they also checked if people who entered belgrade were protesters and, if i’m not mistaken, denied entry to those who were.
people all around the country started protesting at 6 pm, and the last protests died down somewhere between 11 pm and midnight, after the protesters were chased away with tear gas and various vehicles.
way more people showed up than yesterday. the biggest protests were in belgrade and novi sad, where thousands of people marched and rioted.
they started out peaceful, but, as predicted, undercover cops and members of the president’s party escalated the situation and started the violence. people in belgrade didn’t do much damage aside from burning some trash containers and throwing torches on the street, but the city hall and the main sns building in novi sad were completely demolished.
the police used tear gas 159 times in the span of 5 hours. they beat, shunned and choked innocent people. the ones in belgrade were armed heavily, and there was probably over 100 of them just guarding the parliament building. helicopters were sent to novi sad.
when the minister of police gave a speech about the whole situation, he claimed that the police was acting calmly and only talked about some of the protesters who threw stones at the police. he said that tear gas wasn’t being used, despite there being plenty of evidence that it was. for example: a maternity hospital was affected. newborn babies were at risk because of the tear gas that, apparently, wasn’t being used.
this is all i can think of right now - if anyone has more info, please reblog this post with it. my heart is warmed by the fact that serbia as a tag is trending right now, but this isn’t something that’ll be over when you stop seeing posts on your dash. we have to continue to resist and spread information, since it’s obvious that the mainstream media won’t.
