Google's first wristwatch is rumoured to be an Apple Watch competitor in 2022
Insiders suggest that Google is working on its wearable, which might be released next year. According to the insiders, Google’s wristwatch — dubbed “Pixel Watch” for a long time — would be geared to compete with the Apple Watch, potentially providing Wear OS the boost it needs to reclaim market attention.
Details about the Pixel Watch have been leaked.
According to Insider, Google plans to release its first smartwatch under its brand in 2022. According to the report, the information comes from unidentified corporate personnel. Google has not commented on the supposed model or its details, as it has with each earlier leak. According to the insiders, Google is working on a wristwatch that will contain the latest Wear OS capabilities and compete with the Apple Watch. We don’t yet know the name of this rumored model, but insiders claim Google has assigned its watch the codename “Rohan.” According to reports, Rohan will have a spherical appearance similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4. This would be in contrast to Apple’s Watch and Fitbit’s similar-looking wearables, both of which are now part of Google’s larger portfolio. The insider also claims to have seen renders of the watch that show no real bezel. Furthermore, it appears that a prototype version of Rohan exists, as Google employees were permitted to use the device for feedback purposes. Other rumored features include: - “Basic” health-tracking tools.
- A heart rate sensor.
- Proprietary bands.
- A possible Fitbit integration (which would then roll out to Wear OS in general). The claim that Rohan may need to be charged daily, at least according to reported testing comments, is less thrilling, though this might alter before the final device is released.
Why is Pixel Watch important?
It’s not the first time the codename Rohan has been linked to a Google-branded smartwatch. Front Page Tech, a YouTube channel, released a video in April with supposed renders of the device’s design and claims that it has the internal name Rohan and the product name Google Pixel Watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xioX3XTRomM Google’s Wear OS has been around for a while, but it doesn’t get much attention from the general public, with only a small share of the wristwatch market. ACCORDING TO COUNTERPOINT RESEARCH, wear OS accounted for only 17.3% of wearable shipments in the third quarter of 2021. Though still less than Apple’s 21.8 percent, this statistic indicates a significant increase over the 3.2 percent market share Google’s platform possessed in the same period last year. Analysts believe Samsung is to blame for the uptick in sales; it recently integrated its Tizen platform with Wear OS. While the partnership has benefited Google, it has also prompted questions about whether Wear OS can effectively compete with Apple-based only on Samsung’s popularity. That’s where rumors regarding a Google-branded smartwatch enter the picture. Even though Samsung makes amazing hardware, Google can offer more than simply a stylish smartphone. The corporation might, for example, release its own-brand smartwatch with exclusive features, similar to what it does with its Pixel smartphones. Those capabilities would most certainly make their way to other newer Wear OS watches in the future, but that would take time, and consumers aren’t usually fans of waiting. This could help boost sales, at least at first. All indications lead to a smartwatch repetition of well-known history. In the Android world, Google’s Pixel smartphones are still relatively young, and if you go back a decade, premium phones like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus were sporting the latest and greatest versions of the mobile OS. Google currently offers the best Android features on its Pixel smartphones, which has enticed some buyers away from Samsung and other large manufacturers. However, it’s unlikely that Google will dominate the wristwatch industry on its own, as evidenced by the Pixel smartphone brand. Despite receiving excellent marks from critics, Google’s Pixel devices do not dominate the smartphone market. Statista reported the findings of a global poll in August, which revealed that just a small fraction of consumers in important areas use Google’s handsets. In Canada, the rates are 4.2 percent, 3.8 percent in the United States, and barely 2.4 percent in India. Some have speculated that Google’s (relatively) poor Pixel marketing is to blame for the split, though even that could be part of a larger scheme (via Wharton). Only time will tell if the Pixel Watch offers Google the boost it needs to build on the platform Samsung laid earlier this year. According to the insiders, Google is aiming for a Spring 2022 debut, but plans can alter, implying that feedback from testers will play a key role in choosing when the wearable will hit the market. Chromebooks are going to reach a new level of sophistication
Since last year, Chromebooks have seen a tremendous increase in sales as many schools, families, and offices have moved to remote or at-home arrangements. This class of devices has always been developed and promoted for scenarios where most work and even play takes place on the Internet, either directly inside browsers or through Web Apps. Things have evolved dramatically in the last several years, with Chrome OS receiving a slew of new features that may necessitate even more processing power. Thankfully, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Compute platforms are just around the corner, just in time for Steam’s possible debut.
Gen3 Snapdragon 8cx
The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 for mobile devices isn’t Qualcomm’s only new processor, even though it is making headlines right now. That’s understandable given that it will power the next generation of flagship smartphones in 2022, a market that is always in the news. However, the renowned chipmaker offers two new Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) built for even more resource-intensive computing devices, such as Windows PCs and Chromebooks. The Snapdragon 8cx may be recognizable to those who follow Arm-powered Windows PCs. This third-generation chip aims to take that promise to the next level, thanks in part to its status as the first 5nm platform designed for Windows laptops and Chromebooks. There’s also the fact that the chipset has four Cortex-X1 cores and four Cortex-A78 cores, not one, not two, but four. Although those are Arm IPs from last year, their arrangement still outperforms Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 series for mobile. Qualcomm claims an 85 percent increase in CPU performance over the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2 and a more modest 60 percent increase in GPU performance. Of course, AI and 5G capabilities are included in the standard package, touching on the most important aspects of modern computing, whether on your phone or at your desk. Of course, this new Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 is aimed at Arm-powered Windows PCs, but Qualcomm’s language hints that Chromebooks are also fair game for this new computational platform.
Gen3 Snapdragon 7c+
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3, another third-generation CPU, will be targeted at the company’s mid-tier compute platform. It’s a more modest upgrade than past Snapdragon chips for phones, and it’s more in line with what you’ve seen in previous Snapdragon chips for phones. Four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores are operating together, which is similar to last year’s setup minus the powerful Cortex-X1. Despite this, Qualcomm touts the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3 as a major upgrade over its Gen2 predecessor, offering a 60% CPU boost and a 70% GPU boost. The Snapdragon X53 5G modem delivers 5G, while Wi-Fi 6 and 6E are likewise supported. In comparison to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3, the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3 is aimed firmly at “entry-tier” devices, including Windows PCs and Chromebooks. On the other hand, Windows may have issues with it, but Chrome OS will most likely operate like butter. When Google and Valve’s relationship eventually bears fruit, Chromebooks may require all of the computing power they can get.
Chrome OS and Steam
Steam is expected to make its way to the more web-centric Chrome OS platform shortly. The project codenamed “Borealis” is gradually gaining traction as a more visible feature of Chrome OS. Some flags will be accessible in the upcoming Canary dev version of Chrome OS 98, according to Android Police. Steam Proton, Valve’s compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux, is also being prepared for Chrome OS compatibility. Even if there’s still a long way to go, getting started early bodes well for Steam’s future on Chrome OS. Chromebooks have already established their worth in the enterprise and education sectors, but Google isn’t just interested in serving those markets. Giving these devices more processing power and playing PC games will help Chrome OS become more ubiquitous. However, whether Qualcomm’s third-generation CPUs are up to the challenge will have to wait until next year, when handsets based on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 and Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3 are released. Resident Evil: Streamer Completes Four Classic Games Without Being Hurt
In an aptly dubbed ‘God Run,’ a Resident Evil streamer completed four of the series’ classic installments while suffering no damage and saving only once. In a remarkable display of skill and patience, a Resident Evil streamer has beaten four of the series’ classic titles without taking any damage. The Resident Evil series, which recently marked its 25th anniversary, is one of the longest-running horror video game franchises. Outside of gaming, the franchise has generated a slew of new spin-offs, including live-action films, animations, and comic novels. Resident Evil’s ability to combine realistic horror with continuing survival features is one of the game’s most enduring qualities. Players must work hard to clear the planet of the many horrible monsters that abound in the games and ensure that they plan ahead of time to conserve ammo or use alternate assault methods. This is not always a simple job, and many players are met with a screen declaring their in-game death before having to face the assault of Resident Evil zombies and bioengineered mutations once more. One streamer prevented this calamity from befalling Resident Evil’s heroic protagonists by completing not just a no-death but also a no-damage run of four of the series’ iconic installments. MattDaRoc (via Kotaku) recently completed a back-to-back 'God Run’ of Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Code Veronica X. This indicates they did not take any damage in any of the games and did not save at any point during their gameplay. MattDaRoc spent four days completing ten distinct scenarios throughout the four Resident Evil games. MattDaRoc broadcasted their incredible achievement live on Twitch for all to watch, no doubt adding to the strain of an already high-stakes endeavour. Resident Evil God Run by MattDaRoc can be viewed on YouTube or MattDaRoc’s Twitch account. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFWHcP3SnP4&list=PLlSCmNl4siT1SPT2DBKiEsgLGT4HyNyyZ No-death runs are famously difficult to finish, while no-damage runs are more difficult. Many people have attempted to complete such a feat in various games, from Grand Theft Auto to The Legend of Zelda, but many have failed to achieve their final aim. MattDaRoc, on the other hand, certainly holds the Resident Evil franchise in high regard and has a thorough understanding of the game’s numerous environments and monsters. MattDaRoc’s YouTube channel also has several additional Resident Evil films, ranging from the original 1996 game to the more recent remakes. According to speculations, Resident Evil 4 will be rebuilt for modern consoles like Resident Evil 2 and 3 were. MattDaRoc may soon have a new Resident Evil game to add to their no-death playlist. In addition to several leaks and rumors, a voice actor reportedly claimed to be playing Albert Wesker in the rumored RE4 remake, though Capcom has yet to confirm the claims. Hopefully, stories about the Resident Evil series’ future will be put to rest soon enough. Until then, watching streamers like MattDaRoc pull off remarkable feats is an entertaining (and awe-inspiring) way to kill time. Source: MattDaRoc/YouTube (via Kotaku)
Google now offers the Family Bell and BMW Digital Key apps for Android cellphones
Although not wholly new, Google is releasing a few features that are making their debut appearances on Android to help you get the most out of the upcoming holidays. New widgets to create an Android smartphone’s home screen more helpful, more accessible reminders for the entire family, and even the ability to lock and unlock specific autos with a Pixel 6 are among the highlights.
Expansion of Family Bell
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CiQEfiZv9s Google Assistant has long tried to make sense of your life and house, most notably with Google Nest (previously Google Home) intelligent speakers and displays. The feature Family Bell, which is available on these Nest devices, can set reminders for everyone in the house. Google has announced that Family Bell will be available on Android mobile devices. Users can utilize this functionality to tell Google Assistant to make a Family Bell reminder, for example, using their Android smartphone. Users can choose when the reminder will be sent and which devices will get it. This can be used to remind everyone in the house that it’s almost time to leave or signal dinner’s arrival.
For drivers, Android 12 is available.
Google announced earlier this year that it was working with BMW and a few other automakers on a digital key feature for Android 12. According to BMW’s latest release, the digital key function is already available in some areas, given you have the proper smartphone and BMW automobile model. Google says the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S21 may now use Android 12’s digital key function. BMW clarified the statement, stating that Android customers with one compatible handset can use BMW Digital Key-enabled automobiles to use the mobile feature. Owners of a BMW with digital key support can use the feature to unlock and lock their vehicle by placing their smartphone near the driver’s door handle. When you place your smartphone in the vehicle’s wireless charging compartment, the car will start automatically. The feature is being rolled out to BMW owners in the following markets, according to BMW: Pixel 6 and 6 Pro: US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore Galaxy S21 Series: France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, US, UK
Memories and Widgets
The impending holiday season is also an excellent opportunity to reflect on some of the most memorable experiences from the previous year, particularly those recorded with a smartphone camera. Scrubbing through dozens (if not hundreds) of photographs, on the other hand, can be tedious, which is where Google Photos popular AI-powered Memories can help. Google Memories is a new feature that allows users to collect photographs from big holidays and critical personal events such as graduations and birthdays. Users can alter, correct, and customize these collections to suit their own needs, depending on the holidays they celebrate and how they wish to remember them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp-lGxwPUnI Google has also included three new widgets to an Android device’s home screen that allow users to access YouTube Music, Google Play Books, and Google Photos People & Pets. The new widgets will enable you to manage music, return to reading, and view photographs of your favorite people and pets without having to switch between apps. Starting next week, the Google Photos People & Pets widget will be available.
Everyone’s security has improved.
The last few weeks of 2021 are ideal for cleaning up and preparing for the new year, which includes getting rid of whatever digital clutter you’ve accumulated over the previous few months. Google’s permissions auto-reset feature, available on Android 6.0 and newer devices, makes this a little easier while also enhancing device security. This feature works by turning off runtime permissions on old apps, which means they won’t be able to do anything until you turn them back on. Starting next month, the feature will be rolled out to older Android smartphones. However, they must have access to Google Play services. Source: support.google | blog.google | bmwgroup
Facebook Mobile Mixed Reality improvements may forever alter your perception of VR
The Meta Quest – formerly known as the Oculus Quest – is getting its final software upgrade in 2021, and it looks like it’ll be a hefty one. There isn’t much in this update that has to do with virtual reality games, which plays into the “metaverse” idea behind Facebook’s name change to Meta. Instead, a large portion of it is devoted to mixed reality and usability, with several significant innovations on the way.
Messenger VR calling and a mixed reality camera for smartphones
Launching a new feature dubbed mobile mixed reality camera is arguably the most significant new addition in Quest’s version 35 update. You can use this function to show friends what a VR game is like by casting mixed reality to a smartphone — especially an iPhone. Yes, the mobile mixed reality camera appears to be restricted to iOS for the time being, as it requires an iPhone XS or newer running iOS 11 or higher. It also requires the Oculus app’s version 139 update, which has yet to be released. Thus it appears that this functionality isn’t available just yet. You’ll be able to cast visuals of your VR gameplay to a phone once it’s online. This differs from Quest’s Live Overlay function, and it shows players in-game using the phone’s cameras rather than superimposing user video over footage collected through the headset. A dozen titles will support the mobile mixed reality camera when it becomes available, including Beat Saber and Superhot VR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n_qspH5Iaw VR calling for Messenger joins the mixed reality camera as a prominent feature. This is one of the features Meta unveiled at Connect in October when it stated that it would no longer use the Facebook name internally. Messenger VR call does exactly what it says on the tin: it lets you make voice calls through Messenger while wearing your headset.
Support for multiple users, app sharing, and cloud backups
Multi-User Support and App Sharing aren’t new features, but they’re finally available with Quest’s version 35 upgrade. This implies Meta is confident enough in these capabilities to remove the experimental label, but nothing will change for individuals who are already using them. Multi-User support and App Sharing are now managed through the Accounts page in the Settings menu, according to Meta, so Quest users should be aware of this change. Furthermore, Meta is introducing Cloud Backup for game saves. This feature was announced during Connect, but it’s now ready for prime time, just like Messenger VR calling. Your game saves will now be automatically backed up to Meta’s cloud, allowing you to pick up where you left off in your games if your headset is lost or stolen. According to Meta, cloud saves will be released slower than the version 35 upgrade, so you may not notice the feature even after installing it. While cloud saves are enabled by default for all games, developers can choose to disable the feature. Although Meta doesn’t believe many developers are opting out, you can visit the Oculus website for a complete list of titles that enable cloud backups.
Improvements to the Horizon Workroom and the Public Test Channel
Meta announced today that Horizon Workroom customization features would begin rolling out in the coming weeks, following up on a Connect statement. So, if you’re wary of using Horizon Workrooms for the same virtual meeting area, you’ll soon be able to switch things around. Users will first choose from various virtual conference spaces, which can then be further customized with their company’s logo and posters. Meta plans to offer a higher level of customization for Horizon Workrooms in the future but doesn’t specify what such customizations will involve. We don’t know when those more advanced customization options will be available, but we’ll keep you updated when Meta provides more information. The company will also make more apps available as 2D panels for virtual reality in the following weeks. MURAL, Miro, and monday.com are among the apps Meta verified today, but more services will be added as time goes on. Finally, Meta has announced establishing a Public Test Channel, which will allow Quest users to try out software changes before they go live. You can sign up for the Public Test Channel on the Quest support site, but you won’t be able to revert to older software versions once you’ve done a Public Test Channel upgrade. The Quest version 35 update is being phased out, which means that not everyone will get it straight away. The update is starting to roll out today, so keep an eye out for it in the following days and weeks if you’re a Quest user. Source: oculus | support.oculus
Arnold Schwarzenegger's Festive Trailer Debuts in the World of Tanks
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be a part of World of Tanks’ Holiday Ops 2022 event, with a festive trailer introducing the cooperation. World of Tanks, a historical shooter, has announced a collaboration with Arnold Schwarzenegger, announcing the news with a festive teaser just in time for the holidays. The trailer teases an especially magical partnership with Schwarzenegger for Holiday Ops 2022, previously partnered up with famous people and businesses such as G.I Joe. Because of its commitment to detail when it comes to vehicles, World of Tanks has earned a reputation as one of the most historically accurate battle simulations on the market. The game features an extensive and ever-expanding roster of tanks and other vehicles spanning World War II to the mid-twentieth century. Because of the game’s several playing types, players must master their preferred war machines and use strategy and skill to defeat their opponents. Despite emphasizing realism and immersion, World of Tanks teamed with Hot Wheels last year, providing gamers with some lighthearted fun. Holiday Ops 2022 will star Arnold Schwarzenegger this year and will provide comparable frivolity and festive fun for World of Tanks fans. Schwarzenegger’s involvement in the game has been announced in a new video from World of Tanks North America, which features a live-action trailer reminiscent of classic Christmas movies, with Schwarzenegger arriving by chopper to grant Little Johnny’s Christmas wish. While the partnership’s entire specifics are currently being kept under wraps, Schwarzenegger expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative and his love of tanks in a news statement, saying:
“Working on this special event with the Wargaming team has been a fantastic experience, and I’m confident it will excite the players. I own an M-47 Patton that I drove in the Austrian Army when I was 18, so I know what it’s like to command these steel creatures! I’m glad we can finally give the fans the partnership they desire after years of my Reddit friends asking me about World of Tanks. If you want to spread the Christmas cheer this year, but the holiday cookie down and get ready to join me for Holiday Ops!”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtZO4kaF37o The teaser for the next star-studded World of Tanks cooperation is jam-packed with holiday happiness, and it even shows what appears to be Arnold Schwarzenegger in-game. Fans will have to wait a little longer to learn about the Holiday Ops 2022 event and what this year’s celebrations will entail for the game. The Holiday Ops event, which ran last year, is scheduled to run throughout the holiday season until New Year’s Eve, with players able to decorate an in-game hamlet, most likely one similar to the one shown in the clip. The event will include in-game incentives, with more information to follow. With December already here, the World of Tanks Holiday Ops 2022 event will most likely be here before we know it. The free-to-play game will release additional content in the coming days, allowing gamers to jump right into the holiday season. With Chuck Norris joining World of Tanks for the celebration, it may not be easy to top last year’s fan-favorite event. However, if the new Arnold Schwarzenegger trailer is any indication, this year maybe even more amazing. Fans of World of Tanks may follow Wargaming on social media for more information on Holiday Ops 2022, as well as an exclusive Screen Rant interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which will be released soon. Samsung's Galaxy A13 5G offers AT&T a $250 5G option that is worth a look
Samsung has unveiled its most affordable 5G phone in the United States, the Galaxy A13 5G, which costs $249.99. The A13, which will be available on AT&T at the end of the week, combines a trio of rear cameras with a large display and, despite its low price, features a 90 Hz adaptive refresh rate panel. The display is a 6.5-inch LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The Galaxy A13 will be able to drop its refresh rate for more thrifty use when what’s on-screen doesn’t need it, then crank up to as high as 90 Hz for things like smooth scrolling or gaming, just like Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series. However, unlike the Galaxy S21, there is no Qualcomm Snapdragon processor within. Instead, Samsung has chosen the MTK Dimensity 700, an octa-core processor with two 2.2 GHz performance CPUs and six 2.0 GHz efficiency CPUs. It comes with 64GB of storage and a MicroSD slot that can accommodate cards up to 1TB in size for memory expansion. A 5-megapixel f2.0 camera is visible through the notch on the Infinity-V HD+ display on the front. Meanwhile, there are three cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 lens lies at the center, with a 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro camera and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth camera flanking it. A 5,000-man battery is housed inside, which allows 15W wired charging. Given the pricing, it’s unsurprising that there’s no wifi option. WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth are available in addition to 5G Sub 6 – but not mmWave. With an NFC chip and a fingerprint scanner on the side, Samsung Pay is also supported. As is typically the case with these inexpensive phones, you receive more features than flagships and upper-midrange models in some circumstances. The 3.5mm headphone port, for example, was removed from Samsung’s Galaxy S series several generations ago. For those who still want to utilize wired headphones or earbuds, it’s there and corrects on the Galaxy A13 5G. 5G is quickly finding its way through the middle and into the inexpensive end of the smartphone spectrum, far from being a premium feature. With the Galaxy A13 5G launch, AT&T now has two options for consumers looking for the most affordable 5G-capable Android device. The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G is the alternative, with the same price tag but 128GB of storage, a rear-facing wide-angle camera, and a Snapdragon 480 processor. AT&T will begin selling the Samsung Galaxy A13 5G on December 3, and the cost will be $249.99. Meanwhile, it will be accessible through Samsung’s online shop and T-Mobile beginning in January 2022. MK (Mortal Kombat) Sonya Blade Cosplay Revives Her Retro Uniform
Sonya Blade, one of the Mortal Kombat franchise’s oldest and most known combatants, is brought to life by a talented piece of cosplay. Sonya Blade, one of the Mortal Kombat franchise’s oldest and most well-known “kombatants,” was recently recreated by a brilliant cosplayer. Since 1992, the deadly fighting game franchise has provided an ever-growing community of players with fast-paced action, gory finishing moves, and unforgettable characters. Despite the monstrous nature of several series stalwarts, mortal Kombat cosplays have proven extremely popular among those dedicated to dressing up for a beatdown. The Mortal Kombat series has produced many selectable characters that are still recognizable today after over 30 years. The original game’s seven deadly kombatants, particularly the opposing duo of Scorpion and Sub-Zero, are still regarded lock-ins for each new sequel in the violent story. Cosplays of the two elemental ninjas and other legendary characters like Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Raiden are common, and multiple sequels and spin-offs have introduced even more bizarre designs. In 2015’s Mortal Kombat X, the insectoid beast D'Vorah was debuted, and even this winged warrior has been recreated with exquisite prosthetics and makeup. Mileena’s demonic jaws are replicated utilizing film-worthy makeup effects in cosplay of Mortal Kombat X’s Mileena design. Redditor Tniwe recreated Sonya Blade’s famous outfit from the original arcade fighting game in a picture-perfect Mortal Kombat cosplay. Even though the military-grade warrior has undergone numerous redesigns and cosmetic costumes over the years, this outfit is based on her classic 1992 look. Tniwe faithfully recreates Sonya’s original look, including her haircut, gleaming white sneakers, strange armbands, and red lipstick. Tniwe’s kombat-ready position is preserved, with one fist raised forward and the other ready to strike at her opponent. https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/comments/r5mad8/my_classic_sonya_blade_mk1_cosplay/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=04689342f8c24cf5b0fa184e24798782&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=r5mad8 https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalKombat/comments/r0qcvj/my_classic_sonya_blade_mk1_cosplay/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=9a9b5f5ff0474ec4999e6a68e9b0888f&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=r0qcvj Although the mercilessly gory fighting game franchise has gone a long way, many Mortal Kombat fans, such as Tniwe, are still faithful to the series’ 1990s roots. In 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 introduced tremendous character customization and incredibly photorealistic graphics, yet many fans still want to see the classic Mortal Kombat trilogy remastered. Eyeballistic, an independent game developer, recently started a petition to construct such a project, using 4K-rendered pictures of classic games as a proof-of-concept. Despite the approval of series co-creator Ed Boon, the indie firm claims that they submitted the idea to Warner Bros. five years ago and were rejected down. With cosplayers like Tniwe recreating vintage character designs, it appears that a remake of the franchise’s earliest installments is in demand. The Mortal Kombat franchise has amassed many characters and a large fighting game fandom over nearly 30 years of spectacular battles and time-bending tales. While some gamers are pleased to play as their favorite characters in games, others go over and above by dressing up as these fighters in cosplay. Tniwe’s Sonya Blade reconstruction is a throwback to Mortal Kombat’s classic roots, bringing the franchise’s most vicious woman into the real world. Source: Tniwe/Reddit (1, 2)
Chrome OS 96 adds Android Nearby Share and new camera functions
Google is most known for Android in terms of operating systems, but it also has several other platforms under its belt. Because of the variety of operating systems it can handle, including Linux and Android, Chrome OS is one of the most complexes. On the other hand, Chrome OS feels like it’s still catching up to what some of its competitors have already accomplished. Google Chrome OS is receiving many of them with version 96, including an almost unique ability to manage an external camera. Chromebooks aren’t known for their cameras, and the majority of them only have enough processing power to make adequate webcams for video chats. Most don’t even have a camera with a “world-facing” lens for taking photos. As Chromebooks become more diverse, many of them, particularly those with convertible designs, include such a camera, and Chrome OS has begun to capitalize on this trend. Chrome OS acquired the ability to scan documents using either the front or back cameras, announced a few releases ago. It identifies edges automatically, as many document scanners, and makes it simple to transfer documents via Gmail or Android phones via Nearby Share. A new function for users who utilize external cameras has been included in Chrome OS 96. A new virtual D-Pad is now available, allowing users to manage the camera’s Pan, Tilt, and Zoom features to frame the perfect photo. Those selections are maintained so that you may get right into a video conference with those settings. According to 9to5Google, the latest Chrome OS version also improves the platform’s capabilities for sharing with neighboring Android devices. Previously only available in a few apps, such as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), the Nearby Share feature is available from any Android app’s share sheet. Given that Android and Chrome OS are both made by the same company, this is a long-awaited feature. More camera-centric features are also on the way, according to Google. The ability to generate animated GIFs using the Chrome OS Camera app is at the top of the list, allowing users to record five seconds of video and transform it into an entertaining clip they can quickly share. This will be available early next year, but experienced Chrome OS users can join Google’s beta program to test the functionality ahead of the rest of the world. Source: 9to5Google | blog.google
In December, Xbox Game Pass will include Aliens: Fireteam Elite
This December, Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be available on Xbox Game Pass, along with the game’s second season of post-launch content and cross-play. Aliens: Fireteam Elite is coming to Xbox Game Pass after a rather quiet launch. The co-op action game was released in August, but it appears to have lacked a following. Aliens: Fireteam Elite was assumed to be dead just two months after launch due to a scarcity of gamers on Steam, despite receiving positive reviews and topping the charts in the UK. In October, the game had around 500-800 active players, but it couldn’t compete with Back 4 Blood, another horror-themed co-op game. Cold Iron Studios has announced that Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be added to Xbox Game Pass on December 14th, ahead of its second season of post-launch DLC. In an Xbox Wire article, the developer stated that this would enable cross-play between Xbox and Windows gamers who purchase the game through the Microsoft Store. This is one of the features that many players had wanted to see in the game when it first launched, and it may be one of the reasons it failed to maintain a healthy player base. Aliens: Fireteam Elite had a cross-gen play at its release, allowing players to play with each other if they owned the same console family but no cross-play. Unfortunately, Xbox and PC gamers will not be able to play with PlayStation players, so there will be some limitations, but it is a step forward. The Xbox Game Pass will be available simultaneously as the game’s second season of post-launch DLC, which will include new weapons, modes, and other features. It’s unclear whether all of this will give the game a new lease on life, but it should at the very least give it a boost.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 specifications revealed: Everything you need to know about your next phone
Today, we’ll take a look at Qualcomm’s freshly unveiled Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform. This next-generation technology will be available in smart devices soon; for now, we’re looking at what Qualcomm announced about their upcoming Mobile Platform for the world’s most powerful smartphones (and related smart gadgets). We’ve compiled a list of the details that will be important to you, the end-user, today.
1. Upgrades to 5G
You’ll almost surely have a 5G-capable smartphone and 5G connectivity pretty much anyplace you go in the next couple of years. The 4th Gen Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System is supported by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series. Three “first-in-the-world” characteristics are included in this system. This is the first 10-gigabit 5G Modem-RF system in the world. It also has the world’s first 5G uplink carrier aggregation, which combines multiple frequency bands for possibly faster upload rates on mobile devices than ever before. The world’s first 3GPP Release 16 5G solution is also delivered via this technology. Mobile connectivity with 5G should be much more reliable as a result of this. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series is slated to be deployed in smartphones in the first quarter of 2022, so this technology could be ready to go even before you’re ready to connect!
2. The capability of the camera
Snapdragon Sight Technology debuted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. This technology enables your phone to use Qualcomm’s first-ever 18-bit ISP (image signal processor), a major improvement over the previous approach (14-bit). This powerful picture processor technology can capture 8K HDR video and images at 3.2 gigapixels per second. The power of your device’s camera configuration, as with prior Qualcomm solutions, is determined by a mix of factors. Qualcomm can’t provide all of the camera power you’ll need; you’ll need a high-end hardware arrangement that takes full advantage of Qualcomm’s image processing technology. The good news is that the most innovative manufacturers take full advantage of the camera technology in the most recent Qualcomm processor. All we have to do now is wait to see which businesses use this technology in their next smartphones to determine if Qualcomm’s claims are true.
3. Gaming ability
Audiokinetic technology for gaming continues with “immersive, console-quality sound,” according to Qualcomm. Qualcomm’s Audiokinetic technology is being used for the first time on this platform. As is customary, this latest platform significantly outperforms its predecessor in terms of graphics processing capability. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s Adreno GPU, according to Qualcomm, is 30 percent faster at graphics rendering than the Snapdragon 888. This generation also outperforms the Snapdragon 888 in terms of power efficiency by a stunning 25%. Vulkan 1.1, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and OpenGL ES 3.2 API support, HDR gaming, Adreno Frame Motion Engine, volumetric rendering, and physically-based rendering are all supported by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm even mentions Epic Games’ support for Unreal Engine 5 - complete with all the bells and whistles that such support entails.
4. Audio compatibility
Qualcomm included the first Bluetooth LE Audio functionality, such as voice back-channel for gaming, stereo recording, and broadcast audio, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Dual Bluetooth antennae, Bluetooth 5.2, and aptX Adaptive support are all part of Snapdragon Sound Technology. With a new Qualcomm Aqstic smart speaker amplifier, the latest Qualcomm Audio and Voice Communication Suite, Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise (THD+N) and -108dB playback, the Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec is in action.
5. A few fundamentals
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform features 4nm Process Technology and supports 4K resolution at 60 Hz (image refresh rate of 60 frames per second) or QHD+ resolution at 144 Hz. With Arm Cortex-X2 technology, we can expect up to 3.0 GHz Kryo CPU support (64-bit). You’re looking at a smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 system onboard if you notice a set of specifications that contains the component number SM8450. With support for Leica’s Leitz Look mode, Hugging Face (notifications), and voice analysis from Sonde Health, you’ll be rolling with the Qualcomm AI Engine 7th Gen.
There’s also one for businesses.
Qualcomm also announced a Neural Architecture Search partnership with Google Cloud (NAS). This technology will first be accessible on the Snapdragon 8, Gen 1 Mobile Platform, and eventually throughout Qualcomm Technologies’ portfolio. Companies will automatically construct and optimize artificial intelligence (AI) models using this technology (rather than manually). The Google Cloud Vertex AI NAS will collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies’ SoC devices to speed up development for a wide range of platforms. This partnership will benefit Qualcomm Technologies’ automotive, mobile, ACPC, XR, and IoT platforms. Source: slashgear
Skyrim Speedrunner Destroys Alduin in Under 75 Minutes, Breaking His Own Record
In a spectacular speedrun of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, one player travels across the freezing area in just 72 minutes to fight Alduin. A relentless speedrunner has set a world record by completing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in under 75 minutes, climbing from the lowest dungeon to the highest peak. The legendary fantasy role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios was a huge hit when it first came out in 2011, and it has maintained its appeal to this day. On November 11, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition was released, allowing both new and returning players to relive the epic journey with current-gen enhancements. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has gotten its fair share of upgraded re-releases since its huge popularity in 2011. The game and its three downloadable add-ons were bundled together and released as the Skyrim - Legendary Edition in 2013, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the role-playing experience. Skyrim - Special Edition was then published on PS4 and Xbox One, with improved graphics. The game has now been re-released as Skyrim - Anniversary Edition, including official mods to commemorate the game’s tenth anniversary. Despite its age, gamers worldwide appreciate Bethesda Game Studios’ fantasy title, and Skyrim also has a speedrunning community that competes to complete the game as soon as possible. PC Gamer, YouTuber, and famed speedrunner nucular completed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in under an hour and a half. The world-record-breaking run-through is completed without the use of any flaws or exploits, requiring nucular to rely solely on their reflexes and game expertise. The faultless speedrunner dashes hop and climb through Skyrim’s freezing plains, oblivious to character speech and dodging nearly every fight. Some pro-Dragonborn hints are also useful, such as the fact that a High Elf character moves faster than other races and that shoving characters helps speed up dialogues. Although shout-based parkour is useful, the climactic final confrontation between Alduin and the low-level protagonist is largely completed with the help of allies. This time of 1:12:15 is a world record, eclipsing nucular’s previous best of 1:14:07. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33Xlym_uZ4Q Speedrunning is a fascinating aspect of the gaming business that allows players to compete higher by beating their favorite games in record time. These incredible feats of speed are frequently performed rapidly, as evidenced by one player’s completion of Pokémon Shining Pearl in under an hour. Speedrunner Werster blew through the monster gathering mission in only 50 minutes, thanks to the freshly released remaster of 2006’s Pokémon Pearl. Unlike nucular’s Skyrim speedrun, this achievement relies on flaws, with a menu glitch allowing the speedster to skip substantial sections of the game’s content. One of the most popular and well-known video games is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Because of the game’s wide-open environment, world-play mechanisms, and various quest lines, each player will have a unique experience. Few people, though, are competent and dedicated enough to enjoy Skyrim as much as nucular does. To set a new world record, the relentless speedrunner breezed through Bleak Falls Barrow, the Thalmor Embassy, and Sovngarde without breaking a sweat. Nucular illustrates the continued popularity of Skyrim by conquering Alduin while other gamers are still designing their character’s eyebrows. Skyrim is available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Sources: PC Gamer, nucular/YouTube
GTA 5 Character Switching is Added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Concept
Both Peter and Miles will be playable characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and a concept video shows how players can flip between them. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is imagined in a fan-made concept film with a character-switching feature similar to that of Grand Theft Auto V. The 2018 adventure from Insomniac Games Marvel’s Spider-Man reintroduced PlayStation fans to the world of the wisecracking web-head, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020. In September 2021, Insomniac revealed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a new open-world game that will feature both costumed crusaders. Despite releasing a reveal video for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, little is known about Insomniac’s upcoming web-swinging adventure. Kraven The Hunter and the legendary symbiote Venom, two well-known comic book villains, are slated against New York’s strongest defenders as significant antagonists. Both Peter and Miles have been confirmed to appear in the film, with the two protagonists acquiring brand new abilities and tools that might revitalize battle, stealth, and traversal. Any additional discussion regarding the arachnid-themed adventure is merely hearsay and speculation outside of this confirmed information. Some rumored Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leaks say that Spider-classic Man’s black suit will appear in the game, this time built by Oscorp, although these rumors are tough to verify. Grand Theft Auto V’s character transforming into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shown in an excellent concept film created by YouTuber ItIsSpid. The three characters in Rockstar Games’ 2013 open-world crime game may be switched between at any moment, regardless of where they were on the map. ItIsSpid envisions a similarly stunning system in which players begin the game by choosing between Peter and Miles. The current story mission is displayed in the menu, and whether Peter or Miles can access it. Choosing Miles allows the player to leap right into an active crime, but the game then urges them to switch to Peter to continue the plot. As a result, Miles texts Peter about tale events, and the switch to commanding Peter is seamless. The concept video closes on a dark note, with Peter following Venom into an alleyway only to be ambushed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKgNSgY9ENc The news of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 elicited a chorus of applause from Spider-Man fans, as well as wild conjecture about how the game will improve on its predecessors. Many players, for example, want Peter and Miles to cross paths in the Spider-Man 2 overworld, which may result in some surprising and memorable open-world moments. A player swinging about as Miles, for example, might notice Peter swinging next to them and strike up a chat. The other Spider-Man might even provide a hand when fighting crime, especially if the player is up against a large gang of foes. It’s no wonder that PlayStation gamers are looking forward to Insomniac Games’ next adventure, given the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales. The game is reported to be vast, which has sparked a lot of conjecture about what enhancements and upgrades could be made over its predecessors. The ItIsSpid character-switching concept is impressive, with a very convincing user interface and a great idea for incorporating character-specific plot goals. While the Grand Theft Auto V-style character shifting has yet to be confirmed, many fans would welcome ItIsSpid’s proposal realized in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 in 2023. Source: ItIsSpid/YouTube
Mortal Kombat: Cyrax's Face Explodes in a Fan Animation That's Totally Awesome!
Cyrax’s faceplate blows apart to expose the human underneath in a breathtaking fan animation that has gained the attention of Ed Boon himself. Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, recently posted fan art depicting Cryax’s mask exploding, revealing the human behind the icy machine. Boon has been a persistent presence on social media over the years, compelling fans about future NetherRealm Studios projects and dropping cryptic hints about the next DLC guest characters coming to his long-running fighting game franchise. He’s also shared several interesting Mortal Kombat secrets, like the origins of Scorpion’s famed “Get Over Here” slogan. Cyrax, a cyborg member of the frigid Lin Kuei assassin clan who first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3 in 1995, is one of the many Mortal Kombat characters Ed Boon has helped design. Cyrax was part of a hidden Lin Kuei experiment to turn its warriors into more efficient assassins by implanting their brains into mechanical bodies. His first mission as the yellow-hued LK-4D4 was to find and eliminate former Lin Kuei member Sub-Zero. Cyrax would reclaim his humanity and become an ally of the Special Forces in their mission to safeguard Earthrealm as the Mortal Kombat series progressed. Cyax would appear in Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode. However, his last playable appearance was part of the DLC character Triborg alongside fellow robots Sektor and Cyber Smoke in Mortal Kombat X. Ed Boon posted an excellent fan animation of Cyrax on Twitter earlier today, created by acclaimed freelance artist FlavioLuccisano. While music from Mortal Kombat 3’s Rooftop stage plays in the background, Cyrax’s faceplate blows apart, revealing his still-human face beneath. Aside from Cyrax, FlavioLuccisano has drawn several characters from Mortal Kombat’s extensive playable characters, including fan-favorites Reptile and Johnny Cage. https://twitter.com/noobde/status/1465168440382181376 The release of this gorgeous Cyrax animation coincides with reports that NetherRealm is already working on Mortal Kombat 12, spurred by the studio’s recent announcement that they are finished releasing new material to Mortal Kombat 11. Fans are already speculating about MK 12’s potential list of playable fighters. Some are hoping for a big cast akin to Mortal Kombat Armageddon, and others are seeking guest combatants like WWE icons Mick Foley and Kane. Given the events of the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath DLC, which set the path for MK 12, Cyrax might return as a selectable fighter in either his robotic form or with the humanity he dearly missed in later Mortal Kombat games. In any case, it’s fantastic to see Mortal Kombat fans like FlavioLuccisano recreate the classic Mortal Kombat characters through drawings and animations, as well as to get these amazing artists recognized for their work by the folks who created one of gaming’s most popular fighting game franchises. The Sonos Sub Mini subwoofer has been leaked in the app as a smaller – and hopefully cheaper – variant
For those who aren’t interested in the Gen 3 Sub, Sonos has unwittingly announced the existence of a smaller, possibly cheaper subwoofer. The new model was announced on a page in the Sonos app that explains how to add a second subwoofer to a Sonos audio setup. Even though the model hasn’t been officially released, the menu discloses a few critical facts. In May 2020, Sonos launched the Gen 3 Sub subwoofer alongside its new Arc soundbar. The enormous square-shaped subwoofer is still available for purchase, enhancing one’s home entertainment experience, but at a hefty $749 price tag. Some users will find that price too costly to justify, which is where the rumored Sub Mini comes in. The Sub Mini’s existence was confirmed in the Sonos app, at least according to a screenshot published in the Sonos subreddit by Reddit user S114HED. The screenshot is from Sonos’ “Quick Help” guidance on how to connect a second Sub to an existing audio system, which was added to Sonos’ support in December 2020. The Sub Mini is referenced twice in the snapshot, with a visual description of the device: “a smaller, cylindrical subwoofer” compared to the larger, cube-shaped Gen 3 Sub. Unfortunately, the Sub Mini cannot be used as a second subwoofer in a system that already includes a Sub. Even though the Sub Mini has surfaced in the Sonos app, it has yet to be confirmed, and the company has yet to respond to the leak. The pricing of the Sub Mini is also unknown. However, it’s quite likely to be less than the expensive Gen 3 Sub. The device will most likely be added to the audio product line to satisfy demand from Sonos consumers who, for example, want to add a subwoofer to an Arc soundbar but don’t want to spend nearly $1,000 on the Sub. It’s too early to say when Sonos will formally announce the Sub Mini, but the fact that it’s already in the Sonos app indicates that it’ll be released shortly. Source: reddit
According to reports, Samsung's Galaxy Note manufacture has ceased
As Galaxy Note fans needed more cause to be pessimistic this year, further news broke over the weekend that may be the final nail in the coffin of the fan-favorite. The Galaxy Note range has been said to be on its way out, especially since it didn’t make a showing this year. With the Galaxy S22 Ultra likely to take its place, the news that Samsung is ending production of Galaxy Note phones is both predictable and disappointing for Galaxy Note fans. Of course, nothing is official just yet, as it comes from a familiar anonymous industry source. Samsung is ending the manufacture of the Galaxy Note series this year, according to ETnews, which has all the makings of a doomsday prediction for the much-loved series. Samsung does, however, have a window of opportunity to shift course, at least until 2022. According to the source, Samsung is discontinuing Galaxy Note production to make room for the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. The capacity that would have been set aside for the Galaxy Note would instead be used to produce these foldable phones. It makes sense considering that there is no Galaxy Note this year, but it also means that no new Galaxy Note 20 units will be produced next year. Samsung’s 2022 production objectives, which were just disclosed, complicate matters for Galaxy Note fans. According to unofficial information, Samsung aims to produce 13 million Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones, which is more than it did for the Galaxy Note line in the previous two years. Those plans don’t appear to have room for another Galaxy Note, implying that it will be a no-show next year as well. Given the persistent component shortages, it’s reasonable that Samsung will focus its energies on one smartphone line or the other. For better or worse, the business is counting on foldable next year, notably the Galaxy Z Flip 4, in an attempt to mainstream the still specialized gadgets. There’s also the possibility that the Galaxy S22 Ultra may essentially replace the Galaxy Note in all aspects save the name. Understandably, many Galaxy Note users are upset by these allegations, particularly the suggestion that the Galaxy Z Fold is being groomed to replace their beloved stylus-wielding phablet. To be sure, the foldable phone still has a long way to go before it can be considered a Galaxy Note replacement, especially if the Galaxy Z Fold 4 lacks a mechanism for storing the S Pen. In the interim, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may provide a remedy for Galaxy Note lovers, ticking all the right boxes and putting the Galaxy Note to rest. Sources: ETnews
Italy Penalizes Apple and Google for Misuse of Consumer Data
For their “aggressive” data harvesting, both corporations were fined €10 million. Both Apple and Google have been fined $11.3 million (€10 million) in Italy for what the country’s antitrust office, the AGCM, defines as “aggressive methods regarding the acquisition and use of consumer data” that violate the country’s Consumer Code. The AGCM claims to have discovered two violations of the Customer Code: “one for a lack of information, and the other for aggressive actions linked to the acquisition and use of consumer data for commercial reasons,” according to the AGCM. The fines of €10 million are the greatest amount it can levy. When users create accounts or use Google’s services, they are accused of not providing enough information about how their data will be handled. When customers create Apple IDs or utilize its digital markets, Apple is similarly secretive about how it handles its data. That concludes the first Consumer Code violation. The second is that both businesses are alleged to have designed their account creation processes so that providing personal data, which they may then utilize for a variety of commercial purposes, is the default. Apple and Google, according to TechCrunch, plan to fight the fines and have denied any wrongdoing. If it seems familiar, it’s because Apple made a similar allegation on November 23 when the AGCM fined Apple and Amazon $225 million (€200 million) for Beats sales. Apple and Google did not reply to demands for comment right away.
One Small Change Makes Minecraft Items Look Totally Wrong
A Minecraft player has transformed various objects in the game’s inventory interface vertical, giving them an unusual appearance. A Minecraft fan altered the game’s inventory interface by turning all the goods vertical, resulting in strange and disturbing effects. Most fan projects in the popular crafting game focus around stunning in-game constructions; one famous project is a 10-kilometre Minecraft motorway that took 5 months to complete. Players have created astonishing devices, including playable games like Dance Dance Revolution, utilising the game’s Redstone system, in addition to enormous architectural works. However, some Minecraft fans think outside the box and experiment with the game’s basic pieces in unusual ways. The well-known sandbox game has been alive since 2011, and it has experienced numerous revisions since then. Over the years, developer Mojang has continued improving the game, showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. For example, Mojang presented the future Wild Update at Minecraft Live 2021 this month, including frogs, mangrove swamps, and horrifying new Deep Cities, and will be available in Minecraft next year. Long-time fans will recognise some elements of the game; for example, when things arrive in the game’s inventory screen, they tend to appear at an angle, filling more of the square they appear in. This angle turns out to be an important part of the inventory layout. This was demonstrated by Reddit user SexyToaster69420, who displayed an array of inventory items organised vertically. The distinguishing aesthetic of Minecraft’s swords is erased when their 8-bit edges are smoothed off, while basic things like sticks and Blaze Rods look far less dynamic when displayed in this manner. Foods like melon and fried fish appear strange when adjusted to an angle that differs from the one that fans have grown accustomed to, and objects like paper and decaying flesh become almost unrecognisable. https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/r1epg9/vertical_minecraft_items/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=80fb97150726402880a46e1738be0e7d&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=r1epg9 This isn’t the only request for the long-running game from a Minecraft fan, although most of them are a little more genuine than this strange collection. For example, not long after Minecraft Live introduced the new mangrove swamp habitat, some fans turned to the internet to seek a new capybara-themed Minecraft mob. Such a feature would certainly be a charming addition to the new marshy ecology and would go well with the frogs that have already been confirmed for the biome. An adjustment like this would be far more welcomed than the weird re-orientation of inventory objects. Although Minecraft looks a lot different now than when it was initially published a decade ago, some aspects may never change. And, as SexyToaster69420 has shown, some things just shouldn’t. Minecraft is a game that may be played on any platform. Source: SexyToaster69420/Reddit
Update Patch Notes for Battlefield 2042 Reduces Weapon Bloom and Nerfs Helicopters
The most significant improvements in Battlefield 2042 Update #2 are helicopter nerfs and weapon bloom reduction, which address two main player issues. Players have complained about inaccurate weapon targeting and overpowering flying vehicles. Therefore the second major Battlefield 2042 update patch notes contain reduced weapon bloom and helicopter nerfs. The popular FPS genre is set in a near-future global battle with futuristic technology in Battlefield 2042, which means the multiplayer title will feature many updated versions of real-world helicopters, like the MD540 Nightbird and AH-64GX Apache Warchief. At launch, there were serious glitches and weapon balancing concerns, and many players also refer to the extensive list of Battlefield 2042 additions that are still lacking as a source of irritation. Despite its current state, DICE’s latest instalment has nearly twice as many players as Battlefield 5 did at the same point after release, implying that millions of people have already piloted helicopters, explored new heights with grappling hooks and wingsuits, and survived terrifying tornadoes and sandstorms in the new game. Regardless of the game’s popularity, DICE has committed to developing Battlefield 2042 with regular updates. Bugs, such as frequent console crashes, broken respawns, and framerate glitches are at the root of many existing difficulties. There have also been issues with gameplay, such as annoying weapon balancing, overwhelming weapon blooms, and overpowering helicopters controlling matches too quickly. Update #2 has been released and explained by EA and DICE in an attempt to fix some of Battlefield 2042’s difficulties and flaws, and the patch notes include some potentially substantial helicopter nerfs. While the patch reduced bullet dispersion (also known as weapon bloom) for all weapons except shotguns and fixed several respawn and revive issues, it was primarily designed to counter overpowered helicopters. The bullet damage radius and splash damage of the MD540 Nightbird’s Mounted 20mm Cannons, for example, have been reduced. The 30mm side mount Cannon on the KA-520 Super Hokum received lower overall damage and range. Both the AH-64GX Apache Warchief and the KA-520 Super Hokum’s bullet damage radius was lowered due to the patch.
Patch Notes for Battlefield 2042 Update #2
Weapons Except for shotguns, bullet spread has been reduced on all weapons. As a result, gameplay should be more accurate. Vertical recoil on the PP-29 has been increased to ensure that the weapon does not overperform when used outside of its intended battle range. Fixed an issue where players who died near impediments like walls or water were unable to be revived. Players who were locked in a downed state and unable to respawn have been fixed. We’ve also added a hidden timer that will activate after 30 seconds of being in a downed state, forcing a redeploy if necessary. Vehicles Nightbird MD540 Mounted 20mm Cannons - reduced the radius at which bullets do impact damage, as well as the amount of splash damage. - Reduced the size of the Blast Radius from 3 to 2
- Inner Blast Radius damage was reduced from 1.5 to 0.75 KA-520 Super Hokum - 30mm Cannon (side mount) - increased overall bullet spread while reducing overall damage and range at which bullets deliver full damage. - Reduced Blast Radius from 2 to 1.6
- Reduced Blast Damage from 20 to 14
- Reduced bullet damage before Damage Fall Off starts 18 to 15
- Reduced Damage Fall Off distance from 200 to 180
- Reduced bullet damage at max Fall Off distance from 8 to 6
- Increased bullet range and spread The AH-64GX Apache Warchief and KA-520 Super Hokum - 30mm Cannon - lowered the radius at which bullets do damage upon impact, as well as the amount of damage they cause when they splash. - Blast Damage has been reduced from 20 to 18 points.
- Damage Fall Off has been increased for adversaries further away from the bullet impact centre. The Minigun’s overall damage has been lowered for all Land Vehicles, with bullet damage now starting earlier. - Before Damage, bullet damage was reduced. From the ages of 18 to 13, people begin to fall off.
- Damage Fall Off distance has been reduced from 60 to 40 metres.
- Bullet damage has been reduced to 6 at the maximum Fall Off distance.
- The LCAA Hovercraft’s equipped armour type has been changed, making it more vulnerable to certain weapon kinds. Battlefield Portal UAV-1 - Within Battlefield Portal, the UAV-1 has been re-enabled.
- Health regeneration time and speed have been greatly sped up.
- Missile damage against vehicles and infantry has been increased.
- The drone may now kill foes on the road. Breakthrough matches will now terminate when the last sector has been captured appropriately. Players queuing for a match in Battlefield Portal were directed back to the menu instead of joining the match when a slot became available, which was fixed. Game stability has been improved in general to prevent rare instances of the game crashing. Battlefield 2042 Update #2 nerfs helicopters, as noted in the notes, potentially relieving one point of disagreement among players. The UAV-1 was also re-enabled for Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal mode, with improved missile damage against vehicles and infantry and reduced health regeneration delay and speed. The UAV-1’s drone had been deleted from the game for balancing reasons, but it has been replaced with a drone that can now roadkill foes. Broken respawns and revives were also major difficulties in Battlefield 2042, which the update aims to fix. There have been situations where players have been killed too near to obstacles and have been unable to respawn, as well as times when players have become stuck in a downed condition and have been unable to respawn. Battlefield 2042 Update #2 fixed some of the game’s bugs, but a slew of others still need to be addressed. EA and DICE have claimed that the next patch, which is expected to be released next week, will be the biggest yet and will fix a slew of technical difficulties and flaws plaguing Battlefield 2042. If Update #3 comes up to those promises, only time will tell. PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC are all supported by Battlefield 2042. Source: EA
The Secrets of the Pacific Update for Call of Duty: Vanguard has been cancelled due to game crashes
Following severe problems, Sledgehammer Games withdrew the recently launched Secrets of the Pacific event for Call of Duty: Vanguard. The Secrets of the Pacific update for Call of Duty: Vanguard was discontinued shortly after its release due to major crashing issues. The Secrets of the Pacific event serves as a preview of what players may expect when the Caldera map for Warzone and Vanguard goes live on December 8. On November 24, Sledgehammer surprised many by releasing the Pacific-themed event for Warzone and Vanguard, which included a dozen new challenges, 2XP, and rewards like the Bomber Menace STG blueprint. Some of the rewarded calling cards even contain suggestions about where spots on Warzone’s Caldera above map will appear. Of course, many users unlocked much of the content at record speed, but many others encountered game crashing issues, which slowed their progress in Secrets of the Pacific. As a result, as such reports began to pour in from users across all platforms, the development team at Sledgehammer Games had no choice but to act quickly. COD: Vanguard players experienced another issue with the release of Secrets of the Pacific: game crashes. Only hours after the in-game event was live on consoles and PC, Sledgehammer Games quickly disabled it. The studio stated on social media that it is working hard to fix the crashing errors, which, according to CharlieIntel, can occur whenever players engage the Attack Dogs killstreak. As of this writing, the return of the Secrets of the Pacific event is unknown. https://twitter.com/SHGames/status/1463601561435787271 Because it’s a holiday, Sledgehammer may not have all hands on deck; as a result, the Secrets of the Pacific event in Call of Duty: Vanguard is likely to be postponed for a little longer. Let’s hope the necessary improvements aren’t too time-consuming. COD: Vanguard was released earlier this month on PC, last-generation consoles, and current-generation consoles. The new World War II shooter got off to a shaky start in many ways, with Call of Duty seeing its poorest UK launch since the original Modern Warfare 14 years ago. However, by Call of Duty norms, this may only have a minor impact on overall sales in the long run. After all, the FPS title will almost certainly be at the top of the list of the best-selling games in 2021. Call of Duty: Vanguard is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Source: Sledgehammer Games/Twitter via CharlieIntel
Players of Halo Infinite want to boycott in-game store purchases
While Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is free, Redditors have called for a boycott of the cosmetic shop due to excessive item costs. Some fans plan to boycott any cosmetic marketplace purchases in Halo Infinite’s multiplayer due to the high costs in the game’s item shop. Multiple delays and a difficult development have been reported for the latest entry in the sci-fi shooter franchise. However, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is now available for free, and Master Chief’s single-player storey campaign will be released on December 8. Xbox fans were taken aback by the unexpected release of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer feature, which coincided with the cherished franchise’s 20th anniversary. The game’s release marks the first time a Halo game has featured free-to-play multiplayer, which has piqued the excitement of enthusiasts. Unfortunately, while Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is free, the game’s player base has reacted negatively to the number of microtransactions. While basic cosmetic items are available in the standard game, the game’s microtransaction store has the vast bulk of personalization possibilities. Players can’t earn in-game currency through gameplay, which means they’ll have to pay real money for any cosmetics they want. Fans estimate that Halo Infinite’s Season 1 microtransactions will amount to over $1000. Therefore the game’s first season will soon fill the store with goodies. Reddit user GoobyOfPls advises that players boycott Halo Infinite’s item shop due to the game’s reliance on microtransactions. The post, which has gotten a lot of good feedback from gamers, emphasises that the item costs are too excessive. 343 Industries, for example, will sell a cosmetic belt that is only compatible with a single armour core for $15. GoobyOfPls also alleges that the developer’s concentration on microtransactions violates past commitments, claiming 343 previously stated that armour pieces and sets would be free. https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/r0m2b1/i_cannot_stress_it_enough_do_not_buy_the_shop/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=7dde80b885434b41bbf5c552e2511a5f&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=r0m2b1 While players are understandably upset with the game’s item costs, 343 Industries will hopefully be able to address the cosmetic situation in Halo Infinite in the future. Gamers were also critical of Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass system, a paid progression system that gives a line of rewards by earning points when it was first released. While Battle Passes are a common feature of modern first-person shooters, Halo Infinite’s pass required players to complete particular challenges rather than simply playing the game to progress. After the outrage, 343 Industries changed the Battle Pass system, raising hopes that the game’s item shop may also be tweaked. Microtransactions are necessary for Halo Infinite to receive revenue for future development as a free-to-play multiplayer game. However, according to the Reddit thread, many gamers believe the prices in the game’s cosmetic item shop are too exorbitant to be deemed fair. While it’s unclear how effective a fan boycott will be, 343 Industries may be tempted to lower Halo Infinite’s microtransaction prices in response to the outrage. Multiplayer for Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. On December 8, 2021, the complete title will be released. Source: GoobyOfPls/Reddit
After Microsoft fails to cure a zero-day exploit, all Windows PCs are at danger
Talos Security Intelligence & Research Group has released a new report outlining the discovery of a zero-day attack that affects all versions of Windows, including recently updated Windows 11 computers. According to the researchers, this attack is an “elevation of privilege vulnerability” that affects Windows Installer, who also points out that malware targeting this vulnerability is already in circulation. According to Cisco Talos, the zero-day vulnerability affects “any version” of Windows, including Windows Server 2022 and Windows 11 computers with all security patches installed. The team claims that the remedy issued with Microsoft’s November 9 monthly security update failed to address the previously discovered CVE-2021-41379 elevation of privilege vulnerability adequately. Security researcher Abdelhamid Naceri first found the flaw. Earlier this week (through GitHub) produced a new proof of concept demonstrating that Windows Installer may still be abused despite the security fix. According to Talos, bad actors can use the vulnerability to replace any existing executable file with their own MSI, allowing them to run their malware with elevated rights on the victim’s PC. https://twitter.com/KLINIX5/status/1460338968780804098 As a result, this new vulnerability could be more dangerous than the one Microsoft tried to patch earlier this month. The first flaw allowed someone with a limited Windows account to gain administrator capabilities and remove files from a computer; however, the invader could not edit or see any of the system’s existing files. The disclosed proof-of-concept code, according to Talos, “will almost probably encourage additional abuse of this vulnerability.” The researchers didn’t go into detail about the malware they discovered in the wild that targets this vulnerability, just saying that they “are attempting to exploit this issue.” https://twitter.com/KLINIX5/status/1463564391752867850 Unfortunately, Microsoft has yet to release a security fix to address the zero-day vulnerability. If this vulnerability hasn’t been actively exploited yet, the security firm believes it’ll only be a matter of time until hostile actors take advantage of it. This, of course, raises issues about why Naceri chose to disclose the attack code rather than warn Microsoft and wait for a repair. The folks over at Bleeping Computer had the same question and received a response from Naceri. According to the security researcher, Microsoft’s reduced bug bounty payouts were the reason for his decision to reveal the discovery. Even though Microsoft is aware of the problem, the new bug fix has yet to be released. If the previous discovery is any indicator, the update will likely be released on Patch Tuesday, which falls on the second Tuesday of each month. The Pixel 6a may include a Google Tensor processor, but do not get your hopes up
The Pixel 6 has only been on the market for a month, but speculations about an “a” model are already circulating. Given Google’s tradition since 2019, this isn’t entirely surprising, but the corporation hasn’t exactly been consistent in this area either. There’s some new information about the Pixel 6a that may pique some Pixel fans’ interest, but it’s way too early to make a decision, given how easy things can change at the last minute these days. Google unveiled a cheap version of its Pixel flagship, the Pixel 3a, for the first time in 2019. The formula was basic and nearly predictable back then, with the Pixel 3a resembling its more expensive counterpart but for one crucial detail. In comparison to the Snapdragon 845 on the Pixel 3, the Pixel 3a had a Snapdragon 6-series chipset. Last year’s Pixel phones, on the other hand, disproved assumptions by releasing three essentially similar phones. The Pixel 5 was hardly a premium flagship, so it’s no surprise that the Pixel 5a 5G, released a few months ago, was practically identical to it. The Pixel 6a is nearly anyone’s guess without a consistent pattern, and this latest detail adds to the confusion. 9to5Google reports that According to Google’s examination of the Google Camera app, the Pixel 6a, codenamed “Bluejay,” will use a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 camera sensor. Since the Pixel 3 in 2018, Google has been employing the same nearly obsolete hardware. However, the phone may employ the same 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor for its ultra-wide camera as the Pixel 6 and the same 8MP Sony IMX355 front-facing camera. The idea that the Pixel 6a will still feature Google’s Tensor CPU rather than an off-the-shelf Snapdragon 6 or 7 series makes the rumour fascinating. As we saw in our recent Pixel 6 review, this could help compensate for the lower-grade camera hardware while still maintaining the acclaimed Pixel shooting experience. However, a Tensor chip in the Pixel 6a sounds almost too good to be true, given how much it would cost Google to manufacture the phone, which will retail for a significantly cheaper price. The Pixel 6a is more likely to use a Snapdragon 7 Gen1 processor, or whatever it’ll be called next year, which will make it an actual mid-range phone. After all, there were allegations that previous Pixel phones, even with Google Tensor, could perform some of the image feats of the Pixel 6. However, Google startled the market with its astounding $599 price tag for the Pixel 6, so the Pixel 6a might still be a surprise. Even if there are considerable cost reductions when using current materials and production pipelines dedicated to making the Google Tensor, some possible difficulties are owing to the chip shortage. It’s anyone’s guess at this moment, although one can certainly hope that Google will continue to promote their Tensor-powered experience. Source: 9to5google
A Ray Tracing and PC Virtual Reality Support Roadmap for Hitman 3 Year 2
In 2022, IO Interactive will release its Hitman 3 Year 2 plan, including additional features such as ray tracing and the popular VR mode for PC users. IO Interactive has released the latest Hitman 3 roadmap, confirming that the critically acclaimed game will get another year of upgrades, maps, and new features like ray tracing and the popular VR option on PC. Hitman 3’s post-launch content for 2021 was just completed with the release of Act 7: Wrath (Season of Wrath), which concluded Hitman 3’s Seven Deadly Sins story arc. After the basic game’s story, the seven-part DLC collection added a year’s worth of new cosmetics, items, elusive targets, contracts, bonus missions, and free seasonal content to increase the game’s replayability. The third edition of the World of Assassination trilogy was released earlier this year, marking the first time the veteran devs self-published a game. Shortly after its first release, IO Interactive stated that Hitman 3 had been the franchise’s most significant digital launch ever, selling 300 percent more than the previous installment. Despite the disputed Epic Store exclusivity, these significant sales were achieved. The celebration for Hitman 3 was accompanied by amazingly high scores and complimenting statements from critics, pushing IOI to generate post-launch content in response to the game’s numerous achievements. The game’s lifespan was prolonged thanks to the studio’s post-launch maintenance, and another year of content for long-time fans of the iconic assassin is on the way. Although Hitman 3 has been out for almost a year, IO Interactive has bigger plans for Agent 47 and the game’s second year. The company unveiled the third installment’s Year 2 roadmap, which will begin on January 20, 2022. It will include new maps, narratives, modes, and the long-awaited VR version of Hitman 3, as well as ray tracing for PC users, in a brief but detailed update. CEO Hakan Abrak explained several additional modes, beginning with Hitman 3’s VR mode, which will be released alongside Elusive Target Arcade on PC in January 2022. This brand-new model will take a different approach to the franchise’s famed Elusive Targets, which debuted in 2016 by making it a permanent feature rather than a series of limited-time events with timed unlocked exclusives. Ray tracing will be available later in 2022, and IO Interactive will deliver another important update about Hitman 3 and its roadmap in the spring, with new stories, maps, and modes planned for 2022. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOETb1DDFyY Hitman 3 and the rest of the World of Assassination Trilogy received VR compatibility in 2020, and the game was launched only on the PlayStation 4 at the time. It allows the trilogy to be played solely in first-person mode for the first time, and its significant sandbox levels provide players with new creative chances for all types of play. Because Hitman 3 is a 12-month Epic Game Store exclusive, it’s probable that the PC VR version, which will be released in January, may include SteamVR as one of its supported platforms. While many expected IOI to focus only on its newest original James Bond game, the studio has remained committed to the brand that has won its critical acclaim. It’s unclear what the creators are working on behind the scenes for the latest installment of the globe-trotting murder simulator. Still, Agent 47 fans can expect another year of high-quality content. Hitman 3 is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X/S, and Google Stadia. Roku has rolled back the 10.5 update after it caused problems with popular streaming apps
The recently released Roku OS 10.5 upgrade has been a minor disaster for the firm, resulting in a wave of complaints from users who can no longer watch their favorite shows on social media and the Roku forum. The organization has responded quickly to the problem, but no remedy has yet been found. Roku is rolling back the 10.5 updates in its place, allowing customers to continue using their devices. Following the 10.5 updates on Monday, Roku users began posting about their different streaming troubles. Roku has provided many updates on the issue since then, and while it continues to investigate the issue, it has provided some further information. The 10.5 update bug is affecting some older Roku Ultra streaming devices and some older Roku TVs, according to information provided on the company’s forum. Users’ experiences appear to vary, but common complaints include stuttering video playback and the inability to stream videos on popular applications such as Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, and others. https://twitter.com/RokuSupport/status/1462904641830617093 Roku is bringing its consumers back to streaming as soon as possible by rolling back the software update. Owners of Roku Ultra models 4660, 4661, 4662, and 4670 are advised to check for firmware updates manually. Check to see whether a firmware update is available for the Roku TV model 7XXX. Users can manually seek the rollback update by going to the Roku OS Settings menu and selecting System > System Update> Check Now. Although any Roku user can roll back their firmware, the company recommends that only those affected by the bug do so.
There’s a YouTube TV problem that’s affecting a lot of people.
Users of the Roku have reported issues with YouTube TV, but this may not be entirely related to the Roku OS update. Around the same time Roku customers started complaining about the 10.5 update, YouTube TV members on other platforms started complaining about issues with the platform on a range of devices. https://twitter.com/TeamYouTube/status/1462932021378961415 Some users have reported troubles dating back a week or more, although it’s unclear how long the YouTube live streaming television service has been affected by the streaming glitch. According to sources, whatever fault affects YouTube TV causes the site to stall repeatedly, making watching shows difficult or impossible. Although the timing is terrible for cord-cutters, the YouTube TV issue and Roku’s OS update appear to be unrelated — albeit if YouTube releases an update before Roku, some Roku users may still have trouble watching YouTube TV unless they roll back their firmware.
If you have a Roku TV and have been affected by the 10.5 upgrades, you should try rolling back to software update 10.0 using the manual update process described above. If the software update isn’t available for your device, you might be able to receive it by contacting Roku directly for assistance, according to some user accounts. Your options are even more limited if you’re a YouTube TV customer who can’t utilize the service on a device other than a Roku. Because YouTube hasn’t offered an official fix for this issue, your best bet is to try using the service on a different device. Although it’s unclear how many platforms are affected, it’s possible that the bug doesn’t affect every streaming device you own. Source: community.roku
Halo Infinite Announces the Start of the Tenrai Event and Demonstrates Samurai Armor
A teaser for Halo Infinite’s upcoming Fracture: Tenrai event has been revealed, including an exclusive unlock of the new samurai armor core. After Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer beta release, 343 Industries has released a trailer for the new Fracture: Tenrai event, which will kick off on November 23. The multiplayer feature in Halo Infinite was released a month early to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary on November 15, catching everyone off guard. While everyone has access to the whole multiplayer experience, enthusiasts quickly found personalization possibilities that usual ways could not obtain. At the game’s launch, many gamers noted that it’s possible to adjust what the game calls Armor Cores, the core of the Spartan armor that changes the player character’s overall appearance, in the character customization choices. This contrasts the standard armor pieces that may be fitted to said Cores, many of which are locked behind Halo Infinite’s expensive microtransactions and battle pass. One of these Cores is known as the “Yoroi,” It has a samurai appearance that differs significantly from the ordinary Mark VII armor. The game previously referred to this customization item as the “Fractures Event: Tenrai,” but no details were provided on what this event would involve. Following multiple rumors and leaks over the game’s launch week, the official Halo page has tweeted a reveal trailer for the upcoming event with a verified start time of 10 a.m. PT on Tuesday, November 23. During this period, players will have access to a separate set of challenges and rewards for the event that are unrelated to Halo Infinite’s contentious battle pass, with the legendary samurai armor serving as the major prize. The event will run one week, allowing players a limited period to unlock the entire list of rewards in the event pass. https://twitter.com/Halo/status/1462952789445779467 According to a Twitter leak from _FireMonkey, players will be able to gain the armor core at level 5, with additional armor parts and attachments for the core earned at subsequent levels and other minor incentives like nameplates colors and XP increases. According to the creators, Winter Contingency, Cyber Showdown, and Tactical Ops are three further future releases for Halo Infinite’s first season of DLC. More details will most certainly emerge near the end of Fracture: Tenrai; however, there is currently no knowledge regarding these events. Overall, the fast-paced PvP multiplayer in Halo Infinite has been hailed for its in-the-moment gameplay. Still, the previously mentioned battle pass and microtransaction mechanisms are holding back what might otherwise be a great success. Many fans are upset with the new method Infinite handles the franchise’s renowned armor customization elements and would rather pay for the complete Halo Infinite than the existing free-to-play model, but how 343 manages the game’s events could determine an even broader shift to one side or the other. If the game’s events turn out to be more of the same microtransaction-ridden struggle as the previous season of content, more fans will likely abandon Halo Infinite’s multiplayer entirely. Halo Infinite multiplayer will be available on December 8, 2021, for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Sources: Halo/Twitter_FireMonkey/Twitter
NVIDIA's latest AI consumes words, spits forth images, and has an almost magical quality
NVIDIA has developed a generative art system that employs artificial intelligence to transform words into aesthetically stunning art pieces. This isn’t the first time a concept like this has been proposed, let alone realized. However, this is the first time we’ve seen such a system operate at such a high rate and with such precision. OpenAI has a project named DALLE that you can look at. That’s a GPT-3-based image-generation project that you can learn more about at Cornell University. With Deep Dream Generator, you may start making wild interpretations of styles or learn about some of the sources for the NVIDIA Research project we’re looking at today — see the paper Generative Adversarial Networks to learn more about GAN! NVIDIA Project GauGAN2 is a follow-up to NVIDIA Canvas, which the company’s researchers developed. That program, which is now in Beta, works with the initial GauGAN model. With artificial intelligence at their disposal, anyone can create a somewhat realistic-looking work of art using only the information needed to do a finger painting. NVIDIA researchers enhanced the capabilities of simple input and artificial intelligence interpretation using GauGAN2. This program draws on an extensive library of visual knowledge (about 10 million high-quality landscape photos) to determine what your words may represent in a work of art. GauGAN2 incorporates various modalities in a single GAN architecture. Text, semantic segmentation, drawing, and style are all mentioned by NVIDIA. This new text input element is demonstrated in an interface simply an extension of NVIDIA Canvas in the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qdr8AUNYqU&feature=emb_imp_woyt The demonstration isn’t nearly as important as what it stands for. A smartphone can now magically remove parts of a photograph. Artificial intelligence is already in your life if you use a system like Google Photos, and it’s getting brighter as you feed it more photographs captured by your phone. The next wave has arrived, with NVIDIA’s demonstration demonstrating how the machine can do more than recognize components in photos; it can also develop imagery based on the images it has been fed. NVIDIA has created a model that convincingly demonstrates how graphics processing power combined with the correct combination of codes can provide astonishingly accurate representations of what we humans understand as reality. Google Messages finally brings authentic iPhone iMessage replies to Android
Being an Android user in a group thread with many iPhone users can be a pain, thanks to the way Android messaging has typically handled iMessage users’ comments. Users may post numerous reactions to messages in iMessage, and while it’s a very smooth function for iPhone users, Android users see a display of the comment and the message in question. However, that appears to be changing thanks to a recent Google Messages update.
Emoji for everyone, regardless of phone
9to5Google found this upgrade, noting that Google Messages will now correctly display iPhone reactions to messages. Previously, if you were on Android and someone using iMessage responded to a text message, you would receive a whole new text message outlining that reaction in a minute, irritating detail. Assume you’re using Android, and you text your iPhone-using pal, “I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” If they “like” it using iMessage’s reactions, a neat little thumbs-up will appear hovering above the message in question for them. You, on the other hand, will receive this as a separate text message: “I’ll be there in ten minutes,” you say.
“I liked ‘I’ll be there in 10 minutes,’” said an iPhone friend. Is this a particularly clever solution to the issue of cross-platform reactions? With this latest Google Messages update, the emoji that iPhone users send as reactions will now appear as reactions to your text messages, which means no more funny automated play-by-play replies disrupting your discussion.
Google Messages is calling
Unfortunately, not all Android users will be able to use this feature. This is a new feature of the Google Messages program, not of Android itself, so if your iPhone buddies are driving you crazy with their reaction gibberish, you might want to switch to the Google Messages app. This feature initially appeared in a recent beta update to Google Messages, which would typically necessitate downloading the APK and sideloading it to test it out. However, some users have claimed to have acquired access to the feature in the standard app after it was first discovered, implying that Google is bringing this feature out of beta. In the screenshots above, you can see how Google Messages reacted. It appears that this is a phased release for some, so if you haven’t seen any reactions yet, they’re definitely on their way. Wait with bated breath because contextual notifications describing simple reactions will most likely be a thing of the past for you shortly. Source: 9to5google
What Is the Differences Between a VPN and a Proxy Server?
Here we can see, “What Is the Differences Between a VPN and a Proxy Server?”
What is a virtual private network (VPN)?
A VPN (a virtual private network) is a service that allows you to access the internet safely and securely. Users can use a VPN to increase their online privacy and anonymity and bypass geographic-based filtering and censorship. VPNs function by extending a private network across a public network, allowing users to send and receive data securely over the internet. A VPN is typically used across a less secure network, such as the internet. Internet service providers (ISPs) typically have a lot of information about their customers’ actions. Furthermore, some insecure Wi-Fi access points (APs) may provide an easy way for attackers to acquire a user’s personal information. To circumvent these invasions of privacy, an internet user could utilize a VPN. VPNs can be used to mask a user’s browsing history, IP address, geographical location, web activity, or the devices they’re using. Anyone else on the network will be unable to see what a VPN user is doing. As a result, VPNs have become a popular tool for ensuring online anonymity. A VPN encrypts data at the transmitting end and decrypts it at the receiving end using tunnelling protocols. To improve the security of online activity, the originating and receiving network addresses are additionally encrypted. On mobile devices, VPN apps are frequently used to safeguard data flows, and they can also be used to access geo-restricted websites. Secure access using a mobile VPN, on the other hand, should not be confused with private surfing. Private surfing does not need encryption; it is merely a browser setting that prevents the collection of personally-identifying information.
Types of VPNs
When it comes to implementing a VPN, network administrators have numerous alternatives, which include the following.
Remote access VPN
Clients for remote access connection to a VPN gateway server on the company’s network. Before allowing access to internal network resources, the gateway asks the device to confirm its identity. To secure the connection, this type typically uses IPsec or SSL.
On the other hand, a site-to-site VPN employs a gateway device to link a whole network from one location to another. Because the gateway manages the connection, end-node devices in the remote site do not require VPN clients. IPsec is used by the majority of site-to-site VPNs that connect over the internet. It’s also popular for them to use carrier Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) connections for site-to-site VPNs rather than the public internet. Layer 3 (MPLS IP VPN) or Layer 2 (virtual private local area network service) connectivity can be provided over the base transport links.
The server remains at the organization’s network’s edge in a mobile VPN, allowing authenticated, authorized clients to secure tunnelled access. Mobile VPN tunnels, on the other hand, are not bound by physical IP addresses. Instead, each tunnel is assigned a logical IP address, and the mobile device retains the logical IP address. A good mobile VPN keeps users connected and can transition between different access technologies and public and private networks.
In comparison to software-based VPNs, hardware VPNs have several advantages. Hardware VPNs can provide load balancing for big client loads in addition to better security. A web browser interface is used to administer administration. The cost of a hardware VPN is higher than that of a software-based VPN, and hardware VPNs are more cost-effective for larger businesses due to their lower cost. Devices that can be used as hardware VPNs are available from several suppliers.
A VPN appliance, sometimes known as a VPN gateway appliance, is a network device that provides greater security. It’s also known as an SSL VPN appliance, and it’s a router that protects, authorizes, authenticates, and encrypts VPN connections.
Dynamic multipoint virtual private network (DMVPN) On VPN routers and firewall concentrators, a DMVPN creates a mesh VPN service. Each remote location has a router set up to connect to the company’s headquarters device (hub), giving them access to its resources. When two spokes need to communicate data — for example, for a voice over IP (VoIP) phone conversation — the spoke will contact the hub, collect the necessary information about the other end, and establish a dynamic IPsec VPN tunnel between them.
VPN pros and cons
pros - Fast: Using a VPN service will often result in a very minimal delay in your raw internet connection speeds.
- Spoofing your location is simple: Because most VPN companies provide servers in various locations throughout the world. VPNs are good for streaming geo-restricted video content since connections are fast. They are also ideal for P2P filesharing because, while many providers prohibit it, many are set up with filesharing in mind. cons - The VPN provider can see your internet activity – and in many countries is required by law to keep records of it, which may be handed over to the authorities or copyright lawyers.
- VPNs are also subject to police raids on servers in an attempt to access the information they hold. This is why it’s critical to select a service provider that doesn’t maintain any logs (and is in a position to keep this promise). Of course, you must trust a VPN company to fulfil their word even if they pledge to retain no logs.
- Costs money (usually less than $10 per month, or even less if you buy in bulk)
What is a proxy server, and how does it work?
Any system that translates traffic between networks or protocols is referred to as a proxy server. It’s an intermediary server that sits between end-user clients and the websites they visit. Depending on your use case, demands, or company policy, proxy servers provide varying functionality, security, and privacy levels. Traffic goes through the proxy server on its route to the location you requested if you’re using one. The request is then routed through the same proxy server (with some exceptions), and the proxy server then relays the data obtained from the website to you. In the name of data security and network performance, modern proxy servers do much more than forwarding web requests. Proxy servers operate as a firewall and web filter and provide shared network connections and caching data to speed up common requests. A good proxy server safeguards users and the internal network from the evil things that live out in the wild internet. Finally, proxy servers can give you a lot of privacy.
Types of Proxy Servers
Not all proxy servers are created equal. It’s critical to understand exactly what functionality the proxy server provides and ensure that it fulfils your needs.
A transparent proxy informs websites that it is a proxy server, but it will still give your IP address to the web server, allowing it to identify you. Transparent proxies are commonly used for content filtering by businesses, public libraries, and schools since they are simple on both the client and server sides.
An anonymous proxy will identify itself as such, but it will not reveal your IP address to the website, preventing identity theft and keeping your surfing history private. They can also prohibit a website from delivering you location-based targeted marketing information. For example, if CNN.com knows you live in Raleigh, NC, they will offer you news stories that they believe are relevant to Raleigh. Browsing anonymously will prevent ad targeting tactics from being used on a website, but it is not a 100% guarantee.
While representing itself as a proxy, a distorting proxy server sends you a bogus IP address. This accomplishes the same goals as the anonymous proxy, but you can appear to be from another area and circumvent content restrictions by using a phoney IP address.
High Anonymity proxy
High-anonymity proxy servers change the IP address they display to the webserver regularly, making it difficult to track down whose traffic belongs to whom. Proxies with high anonymity, such as the TOR Network, are the most private and safe way to browse the internet.
proxy pros and cons
pros - Proxies function similarly to a web filter. Whether you’re using MSIE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or another browser, the proxy settings are applied to it.
- When using a proxy server to access the internet, all of the benefits associated with that server are utilized (Security, Speed, and Geographic Location).
- Using the proxy server settings, the proxy will only secure communications sent over the internet browser. cons - SOCKS and HTTP/HTTPS are the most often used proxy protocols today. HTTPS proxies give the same level of encryption as any SSL website, but SOCKS and HTTP proxies do not.
- Proxies were not created to safeguard all of your Internet traffic; instead, they were designed to protect only the browser.
- Many proxies send the user’s original IP address to the destination site, making them inappropriate for consumers concerned about security or privacy.
- Some programmes may not support proxies, and they must be configured independently for each application (email, browser, third-party apps).
The main differences between VPN and proxy
- Proxy servers do not encrypt your traffic, whereas VPNs do. A virtual private network (VPN) shields you from ISP monitoring, government surveillance, and hackers. Because proxies don’t have this capability, they should never be utilized to handle sensitive data.
- VPNs operate at the operating system level, rerouting all of your traffic, whereas proxies operate at the application level, rerouting only the traffic of a single programme or browser;
- Because VPNs must encrypt your data, they are slower than proxies; nevertheless, there are techniques to increase your internet connection and surfing speeds.
- Many proxy servers are free, whereas VPNs are usually expensive (you shouldn’t trust free VPN services because they have limitations and tend to mine your data).
- A VPN connection is more stable, whereas proxy server connections are more likely to go down.
Comparison of VPN and proxy
Is using a VPN better than using a proxy?
Yes, a VPN is preferable since it encrypts your traffic and provides privacy and security by routing it through secure VPN servers. A proxy routes your traffic through a mediating server, and however, it does not always provide additional security. Furthermore, unlike proxies, VPNs protect all of your traffic at the operating system level. When it comes to the proxy vs. VPN discussion, the latter is the winner.
Is it necessary to use a proxy if you have a VPN?
No. Premium VPN services perform the same functions as proxies, as well as a lot more. For a quick IP change, you could use a proxy but bear in mind that not all proxies are safe, and some of them may collect your information.
Is it possible to use a VPN and a proxy at the same time?
VPNs and proxies can be used simultaneously, although configuring them might be difficult. We also advise avoiding it because the proxy will add another middleman to your internet connection, slowing it down without providing any substantial benefits. When using them, it’s best to use one or the other.
Is it better to utilize a free proxy server or a free VPN?
Free proxy and VPN services may put your security and privacy at risk. Developers can eavesdrop on your data in the background, bombard you with adware, or limit the amount of data you can use since they have to generate money somehow. Premium VPNs put a lot of money into their infrastructure and offer top-notch encryption. They provide you with a large server base, round-the-clock customer assistance, and ongoing service improvements. We advise against using free proxies and VPNs since a few pennies saved could wind up costing you a lot more in the long run.
I hope you found this information helpful. Please fill out the form below if you have any queries or comments.
- Does a VPN take precedence over a proxy? A VPN can be used to get around a proxy server or firewall, preventing your computer from being routed to a website it doesn’t want to see. Even if your data is sent through a proxy, hackers will be unable to recognize and use it. - How does Netflix figure out whether you’re using a VPN? VPNs are widely used to fool Netflix’s location detection servers by routing your internet connection through an IP address associated with a certain location. When Netflix notices this, it blocks that IP address and additional IP addresses belonging to the same host. - What is the reason behind Netflix’s VPN ban? Why does Netflix prohibit the use of a virtual private network (VPN)? Netflix prohibits VPNs because it does not have the legal authority to stream material in some areas. CoD's Double Weapon XP Isn't Working, and Players Are Enraged
Vanguard’s Free Access Multiplayer weekend Double Weapon XP function is allegedly faulty, preventing players from ranking up quickly. The Double XP Weekend in Call of Duty: Vanguard is drawing close, and enraged gamers are claiming that they were wrongly compensated due to defective or broken Double Weapon XP. Double XP was granted in conjunction with Activision’s Free Access Multiplayer weekend, which began on Friday. This event allowed players who didn’t possess the game to get double the experience for free, allowing them to quickly rank up weaponry, upgrade their operators, and move through the game’s brand-new Battle Pass. The latest instalment in the annual Call of Duty series was released on November 5, and it offers a dramatic campaign, competitive multiplayer, and distinctive co-op Zombie modes. While the multiplayer in Call of Duty: Vanguard is remarkably identical to its predecessors, it is distinguished by a robust weaponry and attachments system with a wide range of possibilities. However, because the maximum weapon level for most guns is 70, unlocking every attachment for a single weapon can take a long time. Players are rushing to max out their weapons as soon as possible after learning that Vanguard will be merged into Warzone early next month. Players will be at a disadvantage if they join the new Warzone season without every gun and corresponding attachment. User DocDeezy complained that Double XP Weekend is exceedingly slow and inquired if Double Weapon XP is fully broken. The Vanguard player reported that they spent two hours grinding kills on the newly available Shipment playlist but had barely progressed in their AR weapon levelling. One user stated that the playlist includes adjusted XP values that are slower than ordinary lobbies, although Sledgehammer Games did not confirm this. Multiple users confirmed that the decline is only focused on the Shipment map, most likely owing to its smaller size speciality, which lets players simply (and continually) rack up kills with little effort. Meanwhile, other disgruntled participants have stated that the event is entirely broken on some platforms but not on others. The smallest level in the Call of Duty franchise, Shipment, allows players to obtain XP quickly in a chaotic, symmetrical, spawn-kill-extravaganza arena. Activision has re-released the level in several diverse configurations throughout multiple Call of Duty titles over the years because of its popularity among long-time fans. The most recent version of Shipments was released in Vanguard, where it was revamped as a World War II map to coincide with the game’s Free Access Multiplayer weekend. Like Vanguard’s other maps, the newly themed Shipment has destructible terrain, and its containers are no longer bulletproof, enabling players easier kills in some circumstances. While players can use Double XP Tokens to speed up their growth in Call of Duty: Vanguard, the series’ limited-time Double XP events are the most convenient way to rank up. However, the event was drastically changed for this year’s entry, and its design will probably be more targeted at catching cheaters. It’s unclear whether any further adjustments will be made, but players should expect to see more Vanguard events shortly. Call of Duty: Vanguard is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, PS4, and PS5.
