“Pain had its uses, Jainan thought. It put things in perspective. There was something clean about the way it cut through the emotional tangles and reminded you that things could be worse.”
Everyone lies about their lives. What would happen if you shared the truth instead? The one thing that defines you, that makes everything else about you fall into place?
…Perhaps nothing. Or maybe telling that story would change your life, or the life of someone you’ve not met yet.

‘The Memory of Babel’ (The Mirror Visitor book 3) by Christelle Dabos, translated by Hildegarde Serle
what I wanted: I’ve really gotten into this series this year, so of course I had to know how it continues
what I got: a sequel that somehow feels a bit more “toned-down” than the other books in the series (though it was still a good read!)
what I thought: I’m so intrigued by the unique world these books transport me to, and this one is no exception. As with the previous two, I pretty much sped through this one because I just didn’t want to put it down. The writing, story, and characters just come together, even though this one felt a bit less urgently exciting than the other two. I rate this 4 out of 5 items I’d love to have a reading of.

It’s not always the truth that survives, but the stories we wish to believe. The legends lie. They smooth over imperfections to tell a good tale, or to instruct us how we should behave, or to assign glory to victors and shame those who falter.
You know those posts and memes about how everyone is afraid to indulge in daydreams in public in case someone nearby can red minds? They all have like, 50k+ plus notes so it’s a safe bet everyone around you indulges in random daydreaming and anyone who can read minds has heard it all. Your daydream isn’t going to be the weirdest thing they’ve ever heard thought. You have to relax. If some guy on the train with me can read minds and is freaked out by how well laid-out my ongoing lord of the rings self insert AU is that’s on him. The character development is flawless.
Moments from my walk today. (The first picture was a result of the camera lens smudging somehow while in my pocket, and I really liked how dream-like it came out.)
