During these difficult times, it’s tough to stay active. Especially when you can’t really go anywhere. I realized that taking periodic walks, even if it’s around the block and short lived (maybe 20 min) is better than just sitting at home.
Studies have shown that getting fresh air clears the mind and eases stress. These are stressful times for everyone and we all could use some fresh air. Of course be safe! Wear your face mask and keep your distance from others, but don’t just stay inside.
Boyfriend is asleep and I am taking this time (opportunity) to work on a self-tape audition. Not due to the end of the month, but with little time to myself these days, I thought I’d get to working on it now.
I’ve had a lot of time to self reflect and self motivate. It seems even harder to get on the right track when all you have is time on your hands. I enjoy acting, but not the slow moving process it takes to become successful. Most of the time I wonder what the point even is, now more than ever.
Keeping yourself busy through these troubling times is hard, what I try to do is make sure I go for a walk even if it’s short and I have to wrap my scarf around my face because I did not buy a face mask when all this began (ugh).
Bottom line: Stay active, people! Walk, read, write, draw, clean the house lol whatever you need to do, but also do your best to STAY HEALTHY!
Being unemployed and stuck at home with nothing to do is the absolute worst. The upside though is that I am definitely learning my way around my tiny kitchen…that’s for sure.
I am an avid snacker so to save myself from eating everything that is unholy aka unhealthy, I made these yummy protein bars. I altered the recipe just a tad to fit my Weight Watchers needs (3 points per square if cut into 16 pieces). They don’t require a lot of ingredients and they don’t take that long to bake.
Here’s my altered recipe, but if you would like the original, check out the link below :)
2 cups oats (old fashioned)
1/3 cup protein powder (any type)
¼ cup Almond meal/flour
¼ cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup unsweetened apple sauce
¼ cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
¼ cup Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips With Stevia
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper for easy protein bar removal.
In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients (not including chocolate chips) together.
In a small bowl, whisk together apple sauce, honey and vanilla. Pour mixture over the oat mixture and stir well. Add chocolate chips and stir again until everything is evenly blended together.
Spread mixture evenly into prepared baking pan using a spoon or spatula to press the mixture firmly into the pan in an even layer.
Bake for 22-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
Welcome. I say that with a hint of excitement because let’s just be honest…blogging is tough and this isn’t my first one. I am starting one again because as everyone is aware we are all quarantined and a majority of us (myself included) are unemployed at the moment with little to do besides cook, go to the grocery store, clean, and look into the eyes of our significant others whom we kind of want to strangle but we know that if we do we will be left to deal with this global hardship on our own with nothing but our phones, food, and animals to keep us company. I digress. This blog is here to make me feel good lol and hopefully give you guys some recipes and pointers on how to deal with everything that’s going on around you. Stay tuned!
