Miss Aisley Jean turned eight.
Miss Aisley Jean turned eight.
I’m as healed as I’ll ever be.
And as bad as it could have been I know I am very lucky.
I like to have two firearms that shoot the same caliber and since I can’t afford an SVT-40 or a Dragunov a Mosin Nagant it is.
We played a version of horse with Porter’s mobile disc hole in my back yard.
He did not take me winning well.
Mom and dad needed a handrail installed too.
I am becoming quite practiced in installing these.
Porter tried out some larger calibers. 38 special, which he’s shot before and really likes. Just with a different firearm this time. 9mm, which he had shot before and didn’t like but enjoyed this time. 45acp, which he did not care for. At all.
My roommate ruptured his achilles tendon and declined my offer of using my spare room upstairs.
So I installed a second handrail to make going up and down the steps a little easier
This indoor mini golf sure has quite thee array of obstacles.
Sure were a lot of fastbacks at this one.
Nerf M41A pulse blaster. Probably the closest I’ll ever get to owning an M41A pulse rifle.
So I ordered two.
They completely redid Porter’s favorite disc golf course.
We would have been completely lost, since they haven’t put up any maps or signs yet (hopefully they’re coming) but we had a very nice group of three ahead of us we followed and chatted with.
We knew the city had gotten money to update it but I figure maybe more holes or some minor upgrades. Not a complete overhaul.
We both still liked it a bunch and they did make it better.
Dad got me a parts lathe for when more stuff breaks on my lathe.
There’s nothing wrong with this lathe. It’s just not Pa’s old lathe.
Family dinner for dad’s birthday.
I am so excited for this movie.
So I’m gearing up for it the only way I know how. By listening to the book and watching the early 2000s sci-fi channel miniseries.
Porter and I went to a little car show.
Two miles of track. Over 1,500 cars.
He got to see plenty of super cars.
There are 24 Parker books by Richard Stark. Two movies have been based off them or three depending on how you look at it. Parker, staring Jason Statham which follows the book fairly closely but I just couldn’t buy Statham as Parker and Payback staring Mel Gibson. Which has a director’s cut that ends so wildly different than the theatrical release it might as well be a different movie.
I really enjoyed the first 15 or so which came out mostly in the 60s and 70s. Usually about a heist or a heist going wrong and what Parker has to do to fix it. Towards the end of the series there was 20 year gap where the author didn’t write about Parker and it picks up back in the 90s. They were ok but not as enjoyable as the first books.
Porter and I started our hangout day with BJ and Charlie with a quick nine holes.
Porter has been asking to go shooting. Since I’ve never gotten to take Charlie we waited until this weekend. So he could get some trigger time in too.
I’ve been craving teppanyaki and everyone else agreed. So we had that for dinner.
The boys wanted to try an all nighter.
They didn’t make it. They did make a good run at it though. Porter made it to almost five and Charlie went down around six.
My buddy, BJ came down to visit with only one of his twins, Charlie. Dax couldn’t come because he had gotten in trouble. I think it’s the first time ever that I’ve only hangout with one of them.
Porter and I went to check out Cars & Coffee.
Got to sit my three favorite pets this weekend.
My dad’s brother and sister came to town to visit their mom. So we all went over for pizza.
The kids found an old Nintendo 64 and a keyboard to mess with in the basement.
In this small town about 25 minutes away they built a new nine hole disc golf course. The really cool thing is that a 12 and 14 year old had gotten into disc golfing. So they talked to the city, who gave them the ok and some funding. They also raised some more money and designed the course.
Porter and I both liked it. Not the most challenging course, he shot 31 out of 31 and I shot 30 out 31 but a nice little beginner course and it’ll get better once the trees have more time to grow. Still very impressive a couple kids made it.
National High School Rodeo.
It was interesting and impressive.
Plus I had just gotten my walking boot off. So pretty much any reason to leave the house was a good reason.
I also went back the next to check out the vendors with a different buddy cause I missed them the first time.
There was BBQ. Got the three meat plate. Pulled pork, brisket, and ribs.
It was ok.
They ended up 4th in their division.
My uncle Chris lost his battle with cancer.
It’s nice being able to see movies in theaters again.
A few weeks ago I discovered that people with old cars like to gather in a grocery store parking lot on Friday nights.
Porter and I drove over and checked them out.
His favorite was the Corvette C8
Mine was the 70s Chevu C10
A few months ago I thought to myself “man, I really want to play Resident Evil 2 but not that shitty remake they did a couple years ago.”
I had a copy of the game but no way to play it. I knew little brother had an old PS2, so I called him up *ring ring, ring ring* and says “hey, can I borrow your PS2?” “Sure” he replies.
So after I get it from him and some googling to verify my TV can run the old red, yellow, white hook up cables I get everything setup and think I’m in business.
After I put the disc in the PS logo load screen comes up. Than stays up as the load screen for the game comes on.
After a bit more googling and no one else in the history of the internet having this problem I learn you can reset the laser. So I thought I’d give that a try.
Still have the issue.
Ok. Maybe I should try an adapter even though I supposedly don’t need one. Run over to Best Buy and find one.
It didn’t work.
Found a local game store, that can repair and sells old consoles and took the PS2 in for a new laser.
That also did not work.
But you know what might allow me to play my 23 year old game? A 27 year old game console. So I went back to the Game Room and bought a 27 year old Playstation.
Exact same problem.
Maybe, I thought, it’s my disc. Did a little research and found out, supposedly you can polish discs with toothpaste. Seems dumb and ineffective but hell, why not?
That didn’t help at all.
Ok. So by now I think it’s my disc that’s the issue. Now I’m not about to go buy another copy of the game but it turns out my older brother also has a copy. So I borrow it.
Same. Damn. Problem.
I’m about to give up. Because really at this point I have two options. Try another adapter or buy a 30 year old TV.
I said fuck it and got another adapter.
And it worked. I can now play Resident Evil 2 whenever I want.
Older brother and his family stopped by a couple weeks ago and my nephew saw my graphic novel collection and started looking at them.
So of course I sat down next to him and started bombarding him with recommendations.
