i find it so mesmerising that cream was a super influential and important band but because they were only together for like 2 years there’s only like two videos of them all talking together
It’s a tragedy! BUT, I found this radio interview with all three of them from spring 1968 before it all turned sour that you might enjoy!
It’s a delight just to hear their accents! They’re all on good behavior, a bit awkward and just a hint of arrogance. Ginger even says he quite likes the Rolling Stones (which he didn’t) and is complimenting both Eric and Jack. Jack is being a benevolent music snob and making Ginger laugh<3. Eric is his usual mix of extremely humble and friendly with a dash of superiority complex.
Some further points of delight:
Interviewer: should I start with Jack? No, ok.. Eric?
Interviewer: how would you describe your music to someone from outer space?
Jack: well I wouldn’t y'know… I just wouldn’t do it
Interviewer: I think the Rolling Stones are underrated, would you agree?
Interviewer: How would you compare The Yardbirds to The Cream?
Eric: Well I mean they were just the.. the idelogi.. the ideeeolegy.. the idealogy.. the AJDEOLOGIE was kinda the same because we used to do long instrumental breaks but really its wasn’t… it wasn’t the same.. because really they weren’t… y'know I hate to be snidy and put people down but… but they weren’t really very good… y'know
Interviewer: on this new record what instruments do you play? Are you branching out now?
Ginger: Yeah on this next record we’ve got.. Jack’s playing cello, BEAUTIFUL cello..
Interviewer: Is there anything else you’d like to say?
Jack: that’s very difficult.. well uhm… ask Eric!
Eric: Uhm… be yourself!:) That’s all..
