In this series, you’ll see that Lizzie (played by Natasha O'Keeffe) becomes a real powerhouse and really challenges Tommy’s leadership. She stands up to him brilliantly.
Cillian Murphy about Season 5 of ‘Peaky Blinders’ (2019, The Dermot & Dave Show on Today FM, vipmagazine.ie).
Interviewer:
Tommy now has a baby daughter with Lizzie. How has that changed their relationship?
Cillian Murphy:
Babies always change things, don’t they? I do love that storyline, because Lizzie was incredibly loyal to Tommy and their relationship has grown steadily. He trusts her very much and that’s why he married her. You have to keep important people like that close!
This scene is one of my fav moments from S5. And this particular moment from that scene.
Look at how he says “agreed”. How he resists the kiss for one second just to say it. And then kisses her like she’s the sweetest most amazing thing he’s ever tasted in his life. The kiss. THE KISS. That kiss is so hot. HOT!!! How perfect he looks in this frame. The face. The hair. THE HAIR. I’m convinced he wouldn’t have looked this hot in any other haircut of his. And how he’s SO GODDAMNED INTO IT!! Sbehuwiaodieejhdjddjsjsksn
You talk to me and kiss me like that, Mr. Shelby and you’ll get the bestest most amazing take-your-breathe-away treat you ever would’ve imagined of getting. I’ll savour you like the 5course meal you are. 🔥🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I’m sorry if I’m obsessing over this too much but I’ve watched this gif an infinite amount of times since I found it yesterday. I just love this a bit too much.
Whoever made this gif. I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH (╥﹏╥)
I love this gif too. Hot hot hot!!! Love love love!!! The way he kisses her… wow! 😍😍😍 I agree, looks like the sweetest and most amazing thing he’s ever tasted in his life. No wonder he keeps going back to her. Impregnating her and marrying her is inevitable.
Why does no one ever talk about this scene? I mean, LOOK!! They’re sitting together and Tommy’s actually talking to her and everyone is having a good time. They look so good together!!
Someone please do a gif on this, because I suck at making gifs.
The sun had been long set over Birmingham, but a lamp burned brightly in the Shelby Company office on Watery Lane. Lizzie found that she did her best work once everyone had left for the day, when she had a few quiet moments to think. She was putting the finishing touches on a letter when a soft knock sounded on the door jamb. She looked up, and Tommy was standing there, politely waiting for her to invite him in.
Tommy Shelby and Lizzie Stark are imperfect people who are perfect for each other
As the series progressed on, I started see that Tommy began to rely on Lizzie, in a way I don’t even think he relied on Grace. I feel like he wanted to keep Grace pure, somehow. To keep her away from the blood and sin and ugliness of his life, to show her only the fine things, to show her his best self.
With Lizzie, she was right down in the muck with him. She knew his worst parts, and he knew hers and they accepted each other for it. They might have hated each other for it sometimes, but I don’t think they ever expected more from each other.
In a way, I think this kind’ve strengthened their relationship in series 5. Tommy is a bitter, cold man, set on his ambitions and maintaining the place he’s made for himself. Lizzie, as much as I love her, only has her place as the ‘king’s’ wife because she got pregnant.
At the start of series 5, they’re cold to each other. They love the children they have between them, but they don’t seem too affectionate with each other. I think Lizzie wanted something more loving with Tommy, but I think when she accepted that it couldn’t be like it was with Grace, she opened up a door that would allow them both to be happy.
“Keep accepting payment.” she said. I think in a way, she was accepting that it could never be as it was with Grace, and I think that just wormed it’s way into Tommy’s heart.
Because while Grace was pure in his eyes, Lizzie is not.
Just like him.
So Tommy isn’t afraid of tainting her. He isn’t afraid of being open to her, or showing the ugliest parts of himself, or relying on her for comfort. And she isn’t afraid to give it.
Poor Tommy neads peace. It’s too much for him already.I’m glad that Lizzie is with him. She doesn’t judge him, she accepts him as who is and gives him the comfort. The arms that he needs.
Bc it’s my fave period drama. And I kinda ship Tommy and Lizzie, except Tommy is awful with women and Lizzie has been burned by him before. So idk. Idk. They keep coming back together. She understands him like no one else, not even Grace or Pol or his bros. But Tommy is Tommy. So Idk.
Thanks for saying that :)
Lizzie is different from any other girl Tommy had in his life, she’s so strong and capable of understanding him more than anyone, i knew someday she would become so important to him, i’m also glad that she’s now a real Shelby and gave birth to his second child.
Dearest all of the bitches hating on my girl Lizzie Shelby…
Let me go on a little rant and get straight to the point.
Grace is dead.
Look, when she was alive, I really liked her.
And her death was really sad. I cried a bit even. But, I got over it. And everyone else should too.
I’m not saying that people should just forget about her. I’m not saying that Tommy should forget about her either. He loved her so much, and she’s Charlie’s mother. But, there’s no need to target Lizzie.
She is Tommy’s wife now, and they have Ruby. She even looks after Charles while Tommy is away. She cares for her family, and cares for Tommy, so what’s the problem?
After episode 2 of the new season, people were kicking off. When Aberama and Johnny turned up at the Shelby household and Lizzie fired the gun in the air to get them to shut up, she shouts, “GET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE!” This unnecessarily angered fans of Grace, as apparently it is in no way Lizzie’s house, but Grace’s.
Yes, Tommy and Grace bought it for their family, but again, as I’ve already stated, Grace is dead. Lizzie married Tommy, so it’s her house too. It’s where she lives, with her husband and her children. So it’s her house and home.
Okay, it’s disgusting that people say they don’t like Lizzie because she’s uglier than Grace. Do these bitches have eyes? Lizzie is stunning.
And if you’re saying that Lizzie is ugly, you’re basically saying Natasha O'Keeffe is ugly. I would honestly do anything to look like Natasha. She is so gorgeous.
In my opinion, I think Grace’s character was literally just a love interest for Tommy. Lizzie, on the other hand, is his emotional support, his other half, one of his best friends. Tommy and Grace looked good together, but they caused serious problems. I’m not saying that Tommy and Lizzie don’t have problems, because they do, but they are always there to back each other up.
Also, I need to talk about the Grace hallucinations. I think, now that Tommy and Lizzie have sorted things out, Tommy is trying to get Grace out of his head. I didn’t really understand the scene in the car, she tells him to push the button, which he does. But when Grace says, “Unlock the door, and come home to me,” he doesn’t react to her. I interpreted it as his conscience wanting him to kill himself so he can be with Grace. But he didn’t.
I used to love Tommy and Grace, now I love Tommy and Lizzie. Lizzie is my fave character because she’s sassy and bold and independent. Stop giving her shit because she isn’t Grace.
