oh wow, the “water” is an illusion created by spinning glass rods.
I will reblog this automaton every single time I see it because I adore it and you cannot stop me.
What if the world… Were minecraft
I’m on page nine right now and this book is fucking weird like…ill admit I skimmed some of the Minecraft fan books and they just tried to be like fantasy novels but in minecraft land but this dude in here is like “uh the dirt is square and I have logs for arms” I can’t tell if this is genius or what
The guy is pissed that he’s punching the grass and can’t grab it
He Contemplates the Flat Apple
This dude is talking about how shit he breaks becomes like flat objects and he stacks them in his pocket like playing cards this is fucking
This is what I’m reading btw
Shut the FUCK up Max Brooks wrote this?
seeing ‘max brooks, bestselling author of world war z’ attatched to ‘minecraft’ was like feeling a sledgehammer being swung into my balls at maximum speed and power
i have this book, it’s pretty good because unlike most minecraft novelizations it’s written from the perspective of someone who doesn’t know shit or fuck about minecraft
WE’VE HIT TERMINAL MEME
I’ve said “I hate this” so many times on this website, and never actually meant it, because “I hate this” is just shorthand for ‘this is an example of a meme given a twist I wasn’t expecting with intent to surprise’. Which is, in of itself, a meme on this site. God damn it.
But this… This is something else.
The rapidity of a meme’s introduction to its zenith to its decline is so rapid that in ten years, you’ll need a damn twenty-page manual to explain this. It’ll be as unfunny and hard to explain as jokes in Shakespeare plays, except even more inexplicable because fuck, at least Shakespeare’s jokes are usually about anal or fucking your mother, good wholesome sex jokes we can all get behind.
For the love of fuck, how do you explain loss.jpg? How do you explain gun?
….I THOUGHT THIS WAS A YMCA REFERENCE
it is a YMCA reference - that’s one of the 6 memes being represented here
ok let me see if i can break this down easily. YMCA is the easiest place to start - the song itself has become a meme over time with people changing the lyrics to reference other pop cultural events. so YMCA is meme one (1)
this first lyric replacement (”take the breadsticks and run”) is a reference to the tumblr meme ‘stuffing breadsticks into my purse’. i think everyone remembers that one so i wont bother to explain it. that’s meme two (2)
“man door hand hook car door” is a meme of its own, a creepypasta from i dont remember when. it was a terrible stupid retelling of the generic ‘stuck in a car while hook handed man tries to kill us’ story so the stupid title caught on for memorability. that in and of itself is meme three (3)
‘gun’ is… yeah i dont know how to explain gun. long story short you add gun to the end of a phrase instead of what you expect the last word to be. its shock funny. its everywhere but its popular to add to “man door hand hook car door” for.. some reason? gun is meme four (4)
and the thing is, this four meme combo is something thats gone around before. meme combos are, itself, a meme. which means taking this meme combo and mixing in another meme actually becomes meme five (5)
which leaves us at loss.jpg. loss.jpg was a terrible bad comic supposed to be about some tragic event, but it was presented so poorly literally no one takes it seriously, and for some reason recreating the four-panel setup has become popular. so thats meme six (6)
(but i need to add that this is the greatest version of loss.jpg i think i’ve ever seen. the initial ‘young man’ lines up with the guy bursting through the door, and the shock meme ‘gun’ matches the shock scene of the woman in the hospital and idk if OP even thought about that but it makes this just so much better)
I wasn’t going to reblog this, but @pagesofkenna‘s comprehensive meme-by-meme annotation is a thing of beauty and should be shared.
average tumblr post contains one meme, this post, which contains six, is an outlier and should not be counted
it might also just be a coincidence due to loss.jpg’s format but the whole white minimalist four-panel setup is also suspiciously reminiscent of those early 2000’s rage comics
I was getting a political compass vibe too
tag urself im man door hand hook car gun
This works better than I thought it would.
This was in my senior project
I’m not sorry.
EIGHT MEME COMBO
We have officially created a new language
I just had to do it to em
THIS FUCKING THREAD I’M GONNA CRY
I LOST IT AND MAN DOOR HAND HOOK CAR GUN AND DIDN’T EXPECT MORE I’M SOBBING
M E M E T E N

It truly is.
Indie Game Spotlight: Frontier Story
Ready to fulfill your farming dreams? This week’s Indie Game Spotlight, Frontier Story, created by @jmw327, has captured our hearts this week with their latest farming sim. Frontier Story is about exploring a new world and its mysteries, while befriending the townsfolk, building your farm, and raising some adorable animals!
@jmw327, the solo developer handling the code, art, and game design of Frontier Story, took a moment to speak about the indie game scene and how to start getting into it!
What are some major influences to the game?
Harvest Moon 64 (my first Harvest Moon game) is an obvious one, but also the many worlds of the Legend of Zelda series, and the quirkiness of Earthbound, amongst other things. But not just video games! I read a lot as a child, so I think that had a huge influence on my preference for storytelling in games! And of course there are a lot of amazing people in my life who inspired me creatively and in other ways!
How do the farming mechanics work in Frontier Story?
The mechanics will have a lot of similarities of course to the Harvest Moon series, but with some twists of my own! I especially want animals to play a large role in the game, aside from just being tools to make money. So in addition to having them feeling more alive, hopefully almost like a virtual pet, some of them will have unique abilities which will help you in managing your farm if you treat them well! An example of this is a slime-like creature called a Droplet, which produces water!
How did you get into developing games?
It was something I had a desire to do for a while, and then last year I guess I just figured it was time to stop just thinking about doing it, and do it! I already had some programming experience, so I started learning art and trying to pick up the basics of game development just through trial and error.
What does your day-to-day look like for creating Frontier Story?
After all other life obligations are taken care of, I generally put most of my free time towards working on some aspect of the game. A nice part about doing both art and coding is I can create a more relaxing pace I think by switching between the two roles often.
What’s some advice you could give to anyone looking to get into the indie game scene?
Just start creating whatever it is that you want to create! There is a lot of advice on the internet on how to go about creating a game, but I think experimenting is essential when starting anything new. There are a lot of ways to do things, but I think it’s most important to find the one that works for you and your goals. Understanding what you want to get out of making your game is essential!

Ann Leckie’s new book, The Raven Tower, is coming out on February 26th, and the Imperial Radch fandom has gotten together again to do another lead-up event to the release!
Each day, fans are encouraged to post work under the #AL Raven Tower tag. As a reminder, most people make fanart and fanfiction, but any medium is welcome!
Additionally, The Raven Tower is set in a shared universe with several previously published works of short fiction that are available to read for free online! While the universe is shared, none of the characters or plot from The Raven Tower are present, but they may be good inspiration or jumping off points for some of the events! Also they are just good stories! Ann wrote them! Go read:
You can also listen to the first five minutes of The Raven Tower here!
On to the event days:
Saturday: February 23rd: The God of Alternate Universes (AU Day) - The fandom favorite day re-imagined: Create an AU for something in Leckie’s canon! Imperial Radch characters, Provenance characters, short fiction characters or anything else you can think of are fair game for re-imagining or crossovers. Maybe put some Radch Gods in the Godsverse? Maybe make Godsverse Gods as Radchaai ships? Maybe something totally different. (Hey we can always use another coffee shop AU). Go nuts!
Sunday, February 24th: Build a God Day - Gods are powered by belief, so why not make your own? Imagine a God in Leckie’s Godverse (Or the Radch, who am I to tell you God isn’t like a duck?). These can also be serious or silly (Propriety Turtle is probably worshipped somewhere at this point and don’t get us started on the Butter God).
Monday, Feb 25th: Only the Gods Know What Comes (Predictions Day) - The Gods probably have no better ideas than you do about what The Raven Tower will contain, but this is the day to share your predictions and hopes for what the new novel will be about. These can be serious or silly! Anything at all! Text wall us! Draw some Gods! Draw some humans! Draw Dlique coming back to life in the middle of The Raven Tower (Don’t actually do that–ok maybe but listen, I have this theory…) One very important disclaimer though: if you’ve read an ARC do not post stuff on this day! Or if you have, only post what your thoughts were before you read it!
Tuesday, February 26th: Release day! Spend the day reading! Liveblogging your reading is encouraged, but if you do so, please use the #AL Raven Tower Spoilers tag. The general #AL Raven Tower tag is okay for posts that do not contain spoilers, but please be mindful of other readers for the first few weeks especially and tag! If there is anything you wish to post but do not wish Ann Leckie to see, she encourages the use of the #Not for AL tag, which she blacklists.
Real Neko Atsume Cats
I know there’s already a similar post floating around, but I had already planned on making my own, and I had very specific breed headcanons! Also, this one includes the most recent cats :3
Now THIS is the content I signed up for!
