parker and hardison went from “twenty pounds of crazy in a five pound bag” and “you are why I work alone” to being the loves of eliot’s life
everyone’s always like “once i’m vaccinated i’ll be shaking my ass at every club” but i think we should all remember what we’ve learned to appreciate during the pandemic which is human touch and togetherness are everything so i for one suggest we start dancing in circles again. only folk music at the club from now on
Lol, here’s a fun one: if you had been born in the medieval era and without access to modern medicine, how long would you have lived? If I managed to survive being born (unlikely) I would have died at age 22 from appendicitis :) hbu?
The number of you absolutely convinced you would have been convicted of witchcraft and burned at the stake seems statistically unlikely.
I saw someone mention recently that they noticed how in the First David Job, when they’re running from the museum, Sophie takes the time to remove her heels, but I was just rewatching the Reunion Job and when Sophie and Nikki/Miranda/the assassin sent to kill Duberman get into a fight, both of them remove their shoes in that scene too and once again, it would’ve been easy for another show or movie to be like, “Yeah, women fight in heels, right?” but just that little detail really separates Leverage from other shows or movies.
Assassin or not, fighting in heels is tough and can lead to potential injuries, and Leverage isn’t about to keep them heels in so they can look nice while fighting.
New definition of gritty reboot: the story is exactly the same, but one main character has been replaced by Gritty.
Jane. All the dialogue about how she’s objectively the prettiest and sweetest sister with the most delicate manners and constitution and has trouble expressing her emotions especially when in love remain 100% unchanged.
Meanwhile, Jane “Gritty” Bennet is in the background of the shot in a 100% period-accurate dress, throwing Mr Collins through a window.
Pride and Extreme Prejudice
The responses to this post just keep getting better.
Mr. Darcy: You are dancing with the only handsome girl in the room.
Mr. Bingley: She is the most beautiful creature I have ever beheld.
Hey, just a heads up to everyone who follows my blog: if you see anybody with an orange and black square in their bio, they’re a transphobe.
Idiots on TikTok have been coming out in droves in support of some bullshit identity called “super straight” which basically means that they’re only attracted to cis people 🙄 They’re trying to wedge themselves into the LGBTQ+ community and their claim is that it’s phobic toward them to say that they’re transphobic… it’s just a gargantuan cishet headache.
So, to reiterate: orange and black squares = the “super straight” flag = transphobic dogwhistle. Stay safe everyone!
People have been pointing out additional things in the replies of this post and I’ll summarize them here because it’s important!
- This isn’t something that only cishet people are doing, there are cis lesbians, cis gay men, and cis bi people who have been labelling themselves “super (insert sexual orientation)” and I’ve seen a couple of them on Tumblr already when I went digging in the tags for more information. Please, for your own safety and mental wellbeing, just block them immediately.
- Although it is now rampant on TikTok and Twitter (I believe), “super straight” originated on 4chan and it is a gigantic Nazi dogwhistle in addition to being transphobic as fuck. Basically, the term can be abbreviated to “SS” which is also short for Schutzstaffel (a paramilitary organization under Hitler in Nazi Germany). The colours of the “super straight” flag are also the colours of a specific Nazi flag.
These people are extremely bad news. Please block them if you see them.
I want to make an addition!
If you’re reading this post, or about the subject another thing you can do aside from spreading, blocking, educating yourself and deconstructing biases, etc., etc., is donate to Trans people or Trans mutual aid funds if you’re able.
Examples like The Okra Project, the Trans Women of Colour Collective, the BlkTransFutures collective, Black and Pink, the FTEF, the Black Trans Travel Fund, the BFTA collective, the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, or the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.
These are literally only some of the available options out there. There’s also different transition funds and donation lists around Tumblr that are organised by trans people (tpoc specially) to help each other and that you can donate, too.
Transphobia isn’t just TERFs outing themselves as Nazis once again, transphobia is also the unsustantiability of trans life by altering the conditions which would otherwise allow us to live — specially of trans people of colour.
Here is another post with many other alternatives.
This is also a time for standing with Jewish trans people, listening to them, and learning from them and standing by them. I, personally, don’t know specific coalitions or groups where you can donate or find other ways to support them. Of course, I’ll personally keep looking, but if you have some, make them circulate.
Fuck TERFs, fuck Nazis, block them and ridicule them but most importantly stand in solidarity with the groups which are the most affected by transphobia and Nazism.
I remember I was a bit surprised watching s5 final scene where Parker essentially takes the mastermind role (probably because I wasn’t paying attention). Since then every time I rewatch I’m unconsciously trying to find clues, not in s5, where there’s even an episode about it (The Broken Wing) but in earlier seasons.
The Nigerian Job: There’s this scene at the beginning where she asks Nate how does he know how many guards are there, and he tells him to count the haircuts. Parker responds with “I would have miss that.”
And it seems small, but I think it’s interesting to note that she’s the one always learning these little things from Nate. If you compare it to, say, Hardison trying to figure out in The Real Fake Car Job how Nate knew everything would happen like it did, it tells you how they perceive the mastermind role: Parker sees Nate as someone who can teach her skills she doesn’t know, while Hardison sees the Mastermind as someone all-knowing that controls everything, and has perfectly effective and intricate plans for everything, like a puppet master. When in reality you can tell Nate improvises things most of the time, even if he does have back up plans to fall back into.
The Bank Shot Job: Parker explains to Hardison how easy it’s to rob a bank like that, displaying in her plans something that Nate teachs Hardison in The Gold Job: the best plans are simple and effective.
Parker: It’s embarrassing. Everyone knows you don’t rob a bank without an exit strategy. These two deserve to get caught. 42 seconds.
Parker: To rob this bank. One security guard who has never fired his gun before, 2 closed-circuit cameras outside, 1 inside, and a Glen-Reader safe built in the 50’s whose default combination is the birth date of the manager’s wife! Get in, get out, 42 seconds.
This also ties with something she says later to Hardison in s2.
The Bean Town Bailor Job:
Parker: I think people are like locks. Really complicated and frustrating. But you can’t force them. You have to take time and be fiddly.
Parker: You learn to be patient, and just wait until you hear the…
(the lock opens and the door swings wide)
As a thief, she has to be able to unravel complex locks and security mechanisms all the time. Nate’s great at getting inside the bad guys’ heads and bringing them to their undoing. (As an aside, I like the fact that the show let us know that Sophie was perfectly capable of leading the cons if she wanted to, because she’s also great at manipulating people).
And if she applies the locks=people thing to the plans she makes, it’s not unexpected that planning a con and planning a theft would be quite similar to her.
Another point: as a thief pre-Leverage, she was always at more risk, not because she wasn’t capable of defending herself, but probably because she had to avoid security guards and the like, and because she wasn’t the best at social interaction at the time. Where Sophie would make the mark open the door, Eliot would barrel through any barrier and make himself an exit and Hardison would simply hack something, or not be in a place where he could be caught.
Parker would have had to make contingency plans every time she went to steal something. It’s also because she’s great at improvising, and adapting, which she hones over the years working with the team.
The Three-Car Monte Job:
Nate: First Boston Independent, State Street Branch of the Boston Bank, Commonwealth Loan and Securities. Now…
Parker: First independent’s got a Glenn-Reeder alarm system, series f-900. Two guards in the front, (laughs) one guard in the back. Cameras record, not monitored. Daily turnover, $2 million. State Street, mostly commercial papers and loans, but they do have bearer bonds in a basement lockdown room. Just takes a key and a retina scanner. Commonwealth (laughs) they-their alarm system’s a holdover from the ‘70s, But (chuckles) But it’s…
(everyone is looking at Parker, making her feel uncomfortable)
Parker: What? What do you guys do on your weekends?
She plans/analyses how to rob banks on her weekends, as a hobby. It’s like Nate and Sophie’s past-time being solving murder mysteries. Parker loves that kind of thing and she’s great at it.
The Rashomon Job: She’s the one that gets closer to stealing the dagger, and only loses it because she accidentally drops it and someone (cofsophiecof) took her duffle bag by mistake.
(Transcripts taken from here)
This feels like a rather incomplete post without any useful conclusion lol But my point is, or what I was trying to prove to myself at least, is that from the begining Parker was the best candidate to the mastermind role.
I was so totally not aware that people didn’t know that being sorted into Houses was a real thing in UK schools. It’s not something made up just for the Harry Potter world, it’s a real schooling system, I was in the St George House at my school and everyone had the same attitude to Prefects as everyone in the HP world did to Percy Weasley I can assure you.
how do you get the hat to talk
We had them in my high school here in Australia and let me tell you I wish we didn’t
i’m torn between my feelings about OP’s statement, and my feelings about your school’s officially sponsored raunchy furry artwork
Like most people don’t like to admit this, but one of the reasons a lot of us have so many mental health issues is because we live in a world that has basically become untenable. People can’t afford basic necessities, let alone to cultivate their interests or take breaks and rest or do any of the things necessary for good mental health. People my age are wracked with debt, working at jobs they hate or studying topics they hate, living in a shitty apartment with five roommates. We live in a world that’s very hard to be healthy in. So while yeah, a lot of people obviously do have mental illnesses that would need medication no matter what, they are greatly exacerbated by these issues, and a lot of people have basically just been thrust into an eternal situational depression. So if that doesn’t change, medication is just a band-aid.
there is no physical disability, no chronic illness, no injury, no deformity, no terminal illness, no prognosis, no bodily condition that makes someone inherently unlovable. love is much more complex and powerful than that. friendship, romance, sex - - love is more complicated than anything your body is or will be. it can be wonderful and scary, how many people are out there ready to accept you for who you are in this massive world
to love you and your medicine, oxygen tank, prosthetic, wheelchair, cane, walker, brace, cast, appointments, IV, pacemaker, colostomy bag
your flare ups, your pain, your surgeries, your joy
one condition, one dozen conditions, invisible, visible, common, rare
at your lowest, at your most isolated, at your most unsexy
you are still there, and you are still here, in a world of so many unpredictable people, unpredictable emotions, unpredictable encounters, and unpredictable relationships just waiting to become part of your life, just as you are
i never see positivity for us so: if you had bad grades, dropped out, or cheated your way through school i love you so much and you deserve the world <3
did yall know you can reblog this without tagging it with “i was a gifted kid but-”/“i was in honors and never cheated but-”/etc.?
did you know you can just reblog positivity for people who did shitty in school without mentioning how you did well in school?
more of you should be taking vitamin D supplements
sincerely. especially after this year of being in quarantine. more people should be taking vitamin D daily
my good dude do not hide this in the tags, and i’ll explain before everyone asks: vitamin D deficiency increases your likelihood of upper respiratory infections. so it’s not that vitamin D will cure you of COVID, but that it will help prevent you from being susceptible to contracting it (along with all other measures) and help you fight it if you do contract it as it stops an exaggerated inflammatory response!
take vitamin D supplements kids!!!
here’s a reminder for anyone who needs it: that small embarrassing thing you did earlier? no one remembers it. they have their own day to day lives they’re focusing on, they aren’t focusing on whatever it was that happened. you’re human, you’re awkward sometimes, and that’s okay. people aren’t judging you as harshly as you worry they are
As a lesbian i will always relate more to trans women than cishet women. Made to feel disgusting and predatory in women’s spaces? Check. Berated and mocked for our relation to sexuality and womanhood? Check. Hated for our “deviancy from the norm”? Check. Every single essay about womanhood by a trans woman–and especially, especially by trans wlw–has spoken more to me than anything written by a cis straight woman ever could. T*rfs can take that to the bank.
also, may I add because it’s not just the negative stuff. there’s so much positive connection:
gender euphoria experiences with a self determined approach to womanhood, attraction and sexuality
celebration of bodies beyond the norm
creating our own culture of appreciating complex and intertwined expressions of gender and sexuality
destigmatization and newfound respect of and for our bodies
true sisterhood based on choice not force
the inherent revolutionary nature of our existence and our love and community
creating space for exploration of pleasure and identity
These posts were fundamental in my coming out as a woman and hopefully someone else will see them and see the overflowing love and acceptance that is waiting for them too.
