listen . billie’s had their fair share of supernatural entities being present , but jesus , never like this . they always kind of figured ghosts didn’t have the energy ( or time , really ) to be lurking around and being totally cool with a living human seeing them . was she cool with a living human seeing her ? billie doesn’t know . billie doesn’t know shit , suddenly , and every bit of knowledge about making contact with ghosts is completely out the window . is billie scared ? a little bit . more so surprised . they never really get confronted with anything when they investigate things . they definitely were not prepared for this . now , billie is just bumbling about . wait , is that —“ hailey ? ” billie would never think they would ever be in contact with , well , hailey . it’s been , what , ten years since she died ? and suddenly she’s just hanging around this basement like nothing ? this has to be a joke . “ you know , looking to see if the noises down here was just signs i need to call an exterminator but i found you instead — ” oh , shit . “ wait , sorry , that implied that you’re a rat . which you are not .. you are — ” billie stops . they don’t know if she knows she’s dead , and by the looks of it , she kind of implies that she knows , but they’re not going to assume anything . “ i — what am i doing ? chilling , dude . absolutely vibing . what are you doing here ? ” billie leans a hand against the wall , trying to look cool , but it slips and they stumble forward a bit . they catch themself from falling and immediately stands up straight , totally acting absolutely cool .
she thinks it’s going well for about half a second before billie’s saying her name . her face falls slightly , ‘cause now she probably has to deal with a whole lot of questions . it would be fine , she assumes , so long as vinnie doesn’t come down . if he sees her it’d make it so much harder to mess with him in the future . they keep talking , and realistically she should be using this time to come up with her response or excuses or stories , just so she’s not left awkward when the question turns around on her . but then time’s up and it’s back to her again .

she’s been mostly trying to stay out of their way, just hang around and watch and make sure no dangerous ghosts come their way. it was a simple idea, and a good one too, except for the fact that hailey seems to be far clumsier in the afterlife than she was before. she keeps forgetting when she’s corporeal and when she isn’t, so she backs her way into a table while looking around to see if any other ghosts are there. and then she hears billie’s words and hears the sound of billie coming down the stairs and she doesn’t really know what to do because her options are to either reveal herself and deal with that or stay hidden and disappoint them. but before she can scramble to make a choice billie’s in front of her, and she’s entirely visible - something she could tell just by the look on their face. it had been quite some time since she’d been really face to face with billie, considering being dead and all, so she doesn’t really know how billie would react. so, of course, she tries to play if off casual, as if they aren’t entirely aware of the fact that she’s dead. she’s mostly just hoping they happened to forget about her, thinks she’s just some weirdo in a basement. but the chances of that? pretty low. “ long time, no see, huh? ” cue an awkward laugh. not exactly going to plan. “whatcha doin’?”
