“The investigation into the apparent assassination of businessman and media mogul Rudolph McAvery has taken a dark and chilling turn over the past few days. Several documents leaked by prolific and notoriously anonymous hacking organisation BLSCRN indicate that McAvery had been bankrolling several Cerberus cells within the city of Colchester. BLSCRN previously “declared war” on Cerberus back in November. A formal inquest has been opened into McAvery’s activities and all assets seized from the McAvery estate and businesses. McAvery was shot by a concealed sniper whilst giving a speech to Colchester university students on Friday. Though there were several attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“At approximately 11PM yesterday evening, an explosion shook the downtown area of Colchester. Emergency services pinpointed a disused warehouse as its source. Though police, fire and ambulance services all arrived promptly, six people were pronounced dead at the scene. Three further individuals were subsequently arrested. Though there has been no official statement released about either the explosion or the arrests, an anonymous source has suggested that these individuals are suspected to be affiliated with the terrorist organisation known as Cerberus.”
Gavriel Mosseri was born into almost abject poverty. His father died before his mother gave birth to him as collateral damage in gang warfare going on in downtown Colchester. As a result, his mother raised him alone, as she never took another lover. Gav was born into a deeply religious sephardic Jewish community and practiced with his mother throughout his childhood. To this day, he is very devout and can be borderline bigoted about the religious beliefs and practices of others. In spite of this, Gav was raised with a very strong sense of national pride in Illyria and a great desire to see his nation both defended from all threats and to grow great itself.
When Gav was sixteen, his mother died of breast cancer, which left Gav without any family to take care of him. He was briefly taken into the foster system, but did not do well there. He routinely got into brutal fights with other children, which led to him spending a few months in a juvenile correctional facility. It was there that he was recruited for covert AO operations.
Even before Cerberus became a threat, the AO needed ears to the ground on the streets of Colchester to deal with gang warfare and other threats. At the age of seventeen, Gav was utilised as an asset and informant. He sent them information and was only a text away if they needed someone to turn up with emergency supplies. As one of their surviving (and admittedly, much more savvy) assets, he was slowly given larger and more difficult tasks. Officially, the AO has no record of any ties with Gavriel. At twenty-nine, they now use him as an infiltration agent, working under the codename Abhorsen, gaining the trust of Cerberus in order to bring them down from them inside and to feed them false information (Cerberus think he is their double agent). If he gets caught, however, he is on his own.
As someone prepared to do absolutely anything to protect Illyria, Gavriel routinely kills in ways that many would consider callous. He has been responsible for significant assassinations, the destruction of entire buildings of people as well as “clean up” on people that just needed to be shut up. He has also slept with a number of people for information and other nefarious purposes (in this regard, being bisexual helps). If it comes to it, Gav is prepared to give his life for the cause.
Although he does not have much of a life outside of his work, when he has a moment to relax, Gavriel is honestly a little bit of a playboy, a little bit of a joker and a little bit of a monk (as odd as that combination of things may sound). He practices his religion with fervour and is at total ease around the few people that he calls friends, enough to be a sarcastic, flirty little shit. However, to deal with his work, he has cultivated several different identities.

“Recently appointed Thomas Weston wasn’t the smartest decision the Queen could have made. After the recent tragedy and breach in security the Queen and Crown Prince experienced, we expected a trained and careful eye to take over the protection of Illyria’s most powerful couple in the government. But a young soldier seems to have stepped up to the plate. Only time will show just how foolish this decision was.”
- Colchester Gazette
“Perhaps the Queen has been much too friendly with this new captain of the guard. His recent promotion was unexpected, but we’re interested to see how he will fit into the position. We’re especially interested in seeing this friendship develop, and what Crown Prince Henry feels about the apparent relationship between the two.”
The product of an illicit relationship between a member of the Queen’s Guard and the head housekeeper at the palace, Thomas grew up with a work ethic and sense of patriotism often unmatched by his peers. It was no surprise when he grew up to be one of the youngest members of the Queen’s Guard and most recently, the Captain.
A stoic but kind young boy, Thomas found himself splitting his time between school, the soccer field and shadowing both of his parents during their daily duties at the palace (only when he was allowed, of course – and it wasn’t nearly as often as the young boy would have liked). Those visits, however, became more infrequent as he got older, his mother fell ill and the now teenage Tommy was spending most of his time going back and forth from school, soccer practice and his mother’s bedside while his father threw himself into work to support his ailing family. After his mother’s passing just one short year after his fourteenth birthday, Thomas threw himself into football, going so far as to master the skill and being offered a scholarship to a prestigious school once he finished his secondary education. While the chance to play football for a university was the dream for some boys his age, the only child decided to go a different route in following his father’s footsteps to join the Queen’s Guard – a route he had been planning to take since he was a toddler wandering about the palace, jogging to keep up with his father’s quick strides.
Now promoted to Captain following the unfortunate incident involving the King, Thomas is more focused on his work than ever, but it’s not just because of his new distinguished position. His personal life is in turmoil as he’s currently going through a rocky divorce and intense custody battle while his relationship with the Queen, his closest friend, is being thrust into the spotlight and twisted into something it has never been. The stress is getting to Thomas, but he’d never show it. His face remains hard as stone as he stands in the background, protecting everyone he cared for – everyone but himself.

“Arabella Van Buren has always had a silver spoon in her mouth. When she acted out, her mother is right there to clean up the mess. Anytime she needed money, her father hands her a couple hundred dollar bills to keep her quiet. What we don’t understand is how an American heiress has made her way across the Atlantic to Illyria. Of course, the duke of Veneto is known for finding women who could do more harm than good to his reputation. We’re excited to see how Arabella does on our turf.”
- Colchester Gazette
“Though the duke has made poor decision in the past, such as his engagement to Katerina Hale, we’re interested in seeing how this new fling of his plays out. A young American heiress seems to have her in her trap, and he’s eating up. What is Miss Arabella Van Buren up to? She’s got her own money, but it looks like she wants to pull a Grace Kelly. Unfortunately for Miss Van Buren, Charles Astor cannot make her a princess.”
Spoiled, bratty, manipulative, these were all words that the public used to describe Arabella van Buren from the time she was twelve and ran away from home after her dad didn’t get her exactly what she wanted for her birthday. Apparently, a three carat diamond ring from Tiffany was not a suitable birthday gift like Arabella had first thought it was. Ever since there her behavior got worse and worse and Arabella never really had to pay for any of it. There were rumors of random hook ups, drunken nights, and drug use. Ara was the life of the party, the belle of the ball, and she intended to leave a lasting impression on everyone around her. Daddy’s money got her into as much trouble as it got her out of, but like most spoiled princesses eventually all of her activities would catch up with her. At 17 she found herself pregnant with her father’s associate’s baby. The man was barely older than she was, but he was making his way through the business world. Arabella had to sit down and consider what she wanted to do with the child. She had the option to make it all go away without a whisper from anybody. All she had to do was call her daddy and tell him she was in trouble. It was as simple as that, but she had to think about it. If she kept it, her name would be even further ruined, if she got rid of it and someone on the off chance found out she’d be ruined just the same. Nature took care of that for her though, and she lost the baby. This caused the young woman to go on a bender that lasted for months til she was found nearly dead on the bathroom floor of a swanky hotel room. On that cold tile, soaked in sweat, and filled with drugs and regret, the new Arabella van Buren was born.
Arabella knew that she had to pull herself together, or she would completely die. Maybe it was waking up in the hospital with her father sobbing next to her hospital bed was what finally did her in. She decided it was the time to get sober and get serious because she would not be a teenager forever and one day she might have a company to run. After that Arabella cleaned up, she became the picture of a perfect daughter, working to get her SAT scores up so she could attend a good school. After some finagling and many sleepless nights studying and proving her smarts Arabella was accepted to Harvard and pursued a business degree. It was not always easy to resist falling back into her old ways, but Arabella proved to be much stronger than any of the temptation. She continued to study, make friends with good people, and eventually she graduated with honors and a business degree. She wanted to make her father proud instead of being his heartache. The spoiled brat grew up from being a wild heiress to a sophisticated business woman, though the media would still try to paint her as the girl who had a new boyfriend every week. She resolved herself to be a better person, a kind, honest, caring individual. The one time party girl had successfully turned herself into a proper little lady in the matter of a few years, and she’s much happier with this version of herself than the old one. After all, who wouldn’t be?

“The wedding of Elias and Annabelle was rushed but well put-together. Rumors have been flooding since the announcement and with Annabelle’s baby bump clear in view during the wedding it’s no shock why this was a shotgun wedding between a couple who came out of no where. Question is did the friends finally cross that line or are they just giving their families what they always wanted?”
- Colchester Gazette
“Elias Cooper has step forward. With the passing of his parents it seems the 31 year old has stepped up to take their place and run the Cooper Estate. His sister Emily seems to have joined his side, trying to help him along the way but not even a pair of shades can hide that those brown eyes are looking a little green as she watches her brother in the roll she was primed to take.”
Since he was born the Coopers had high hopes for Elias. The Cooper men were military men, the family was traditional and straight-laced. His father trained him from a young age to join the family legacy while his mother nudged him towards Annabelle, a sweet girl of the neighboring estate she believed would make a good wife. To their disappointment however, Elias was more of a wild child, preferring to be out in the estate rather than donning a suit and schmoozing. He had a pension for getting in trouble, though never too far to get him arrested and his mother’s attempts at matchmaking only succeeded in making the pair friends.
When he left for a year traveling the world after high school, his parents were fairly certain he’d never take up the family title. Their eyes set instead on his little sister, Emily. She’d shown far more interest in being a Lady of the Estate after all. However while Elias was often late, he always showed up and after a year to the day he returned home enlisting in the military the next week. The military suited him well. Though he had a pension for bending the rules he had no trouble with authority and as he rose in the ranks his father was grinning form ear to ear.
Dress blues were no help to his mother’s desire for him to settle down but even she was in for the shock of her life. When the news of Annabelle’s pregnancy came forward it was a bit of a scandal around the town. Neither family had been expecting it when Elias stood up in the middle of a heated argument to announce the child was his. Both families moved quick pushing the pair into marriage and before long the Coopers were sure that Elias would find his way into the world they’d always wanted him in.
Caring for their son however did little to calm Elias down. Instead it only helped him keep up with the kid. And though they desired it, fate had it that his parents would never see him take up the position they’d always longed for him. In January, his parents had been in the center of the attack during Duke Astor’s speech and though he’d pushed hard to find them, he was too late. In the end they would get what they wanted as Elias found himself donning a suit and taking up his father’s mantle in hopes that honoring him and his mother’s wishes.

“Aina Castell-Baudin has made quite the name for herself in Illyrian news in the last few years. A sharp tongue, paired with an intense reverence for the facts, no one could deny her reporting has brought much-needed transparency to the media of the country. After her verbal attack on Cerberus, it would be hard not to consider herself an everyday hero of sorts to the Illyrian people. No doubt the people consistently look forward to hearing more from Miss Castell-Baudin.”
- Colchester Gazette
“We all know the heroism of one Miss Aina Castell-Baudin, but who is she really? Born in Illyria, raised a fourth of her life in Ithaca? Daughter of a shunned and disgraced Ithacan Lady? And why still alone at her age? Surely a title-less Lady should be able to find love somewhere, despite being married to her job. None of us are quite willing to dismiss the fact that she’s spent more time rubbing elbows with the elite than she cares for us knowing. One thing’s for sure, Aina Castell-Baudin tries to keep the spotlight away from herself, but we see you Aina. We see you.”
Two names for two worlds. That’s how Aina Castell-Baudin’s life has always been. She was born in the mid-1980s in Illyria to her father, a world-renowned, but quiet, photojournalist, and her mother, a title-less Ithacan Noble and philanthropist in the Veneto Province. From the beginning, she was involved in the political landscape, even before she’d mastered walking and talking. She was the subject of an award-winning photo series called “Parenthood Unscripted” with her father at age two and sometimes accompanied her mother to events, though by the time she was seven or eight, Aina shied away from her mother’s very public life.
She grew up closer to her father, for all intensive purposes – though her mother wasn’t a horrible woman. Aina wasn’t very glamorous and she found that her mother was poised and polished, and even though Aina was privately schooled, she found that she had a bigger desire to speak her mind. Summers were spent in Ithaca with her mother’s family. Noble cousins, aunts and uncles further solidified Aina’s ideology that there was more to life than being rich and powerful. As she got older, she learned very well how to toe the lines between the worlds of Castell and Baudin.
When it came time for her to study, Aina decided to go abroad. She took Undergraduate degree courses in Journalism at Notre Dame in the United States – a far cry from her polished European world, despite its prestige – and finished a second degree in Political Sciences at Cambridge in England. She’d tasted the world and its many different ways of life – something she’d craved for much of her own – and found that she liked the differences. Even so, she returned to Illyria – heart always with her home – and took a minor correspondent’s position with a major news outlet.
After a few years of reporting on minor political issues, speculating on Council events and participating in feel-good stories, Aina got her big break. Several months after the initial Cerberus mail attacks, she was able to secure a lead to an “insider” to the terrorist network. The interview was live and uncensored, and while Aina was able to remain impartial for much of the time, at the promise of death and “plague on all the noble houses of Illyria”, she lost her cool – very publicly and loudly addressing the Cerberus movement as “cowardly, thuggish and the most traitorous of men, unworthy of the Illyrian people.”
After that, Aina became a champion of the people of sorts. She was thrust to a Senior Correspondent position and began reporting nightly to the Illyrian people. Even with her new prominence, she refused to forsake her journalistic integrity and continued to present the sole facts of the issue at hand. While remaining loyal to her people and her country, Aina has never chosen a side, only denouncing the tactics of the Cerberus rebellion – though at the rise of Alexandra to the thone, Aina shared a confidence in the new Queen with the people.

Thanks to our lovely member, Nicole, we will be instituting a new blog! We’re unveiling Vivat Gossip! Please note that anything submitted to the gossip blog will be treated as if it ran in the tabloids, so do be careful what is submitted. That means that it is going to become public knowledge. Not even the Queen herself can alter the press, for Illyria has the freedom of speech and press.
Happy gossiping, and gossip responsibly!

“Now, we aren’t saying she a gold digger, but why else would Kathryn DeMarco have married the Duke of Veneto if not for the power he brought her? It’s more than obvious to the world that she never loved him, how heartless does one have to be to mess with a man’s heart in such a way? The split makes good news for the rest of use eligible bachelorettes, however. Perhaps we could all turn to Kathryn for advice: How to further destroy an already broken man?”
- Colchester Gazette
“Looks like Kathryn DeMarco’s at it again! This time with Lucas van Allan. At this point we can’t decide if she’s desperate or just feeding into our attentions. Either way, at least these sexploits keep us interested. It begs the question of who’s next? Bets anyone?”
Kathryn DeMarco grew up well off, but never well off enough for her tastes. At an early age she began to set her sights towards the sky in anything she could lay her hands on. Be it grades in school, placement on student councils, etc… Kathryn pushed herself to the edge in almost any and all scenarios, but that mindset wasn’t only the produce of pure determination, rather the product of causing for a distraction.
An only child, she wouldn’t have wished her home life upon any sibling her parents might have brought into the world. There were very few good days in the DeMarco household. Parents who constantly bickered, made it obvious they didn’t care for one another in any and every way possible, the girl grew up wondering if love and stability was something that even existed. She’d seen the photographs, knew that they’d loved each other at one point in time, thus it begged the theory that nothing lasted forever.
It was that mindset that would ultimately ruin her own marriage years down the line. Charles Astor, a childhood friend, there came a point where she couldn’t help as see him as something more; easy to do as he’d always been someone who was there for her, not to mention the status that came with marrying into the Astor family. While she did love him, in a way, she wasn’t sure that this was it, questioning how long it would be until things faded and she found herself on a different side of a relationship that made her miserable as a child.
Cheating on Charles, caught as she knew she would be. Maybe it was a test, that’s still something that she thinks about to this day, but honestly she didn’t expect him to stick around the first time. Then there was take two - the time he’d leave. Sabotaging her own relationship, it was easier than letting it crumble slowly over time. After a messy divorce, Kathryn fled Illyria for Paris. Enough from the settlement to live comfortably for a couple of years, feeling defeated after losing custody of both of their daughters, it wasn’t until two weeks ago that her home land saw for a return.
Hearing about the attacks from Cerberus, of Charles own involvement, something told her that it was time to head back home. Still scared, she knew that she had to face the music one of these days. Wondering whether or not her daughters will even remember who she is or if she’ll be no more than a stranger to them, toying with the idea that with all that’s going on, Charles might reconsider his custody of them; wanting the girls to grow up where it’s safe, selfishly wanting to right her mistakes that she was punished for in the first place.

I answered a similar question here before we opened, and it lists some occupations.
In addition to that, we’re working on a list of possible connections. Some I can think of off the top of my head, if you are interested in playing an older character, would be a duke, duchess, or their living parents. Most, such as Henry Westmore (former Duke of Mantalto), Charles Astor (Duke of Veneto), and Emilia Westmore (current Duchess of Mantalto), had the parent holding the title pass away, meaning the other parent is possibly still living.
Another faction we are very intersted in trying to get started is the Royal Guard. We have one original character who is a member of the Guard, and we would love to see more. They have the ability to be around everyone without security or clearance, because that’s their job!
We’re also really interested in more people in the spotlight, specifically opera singers. Opera singers are usually 30+ in age, so we’re looking for more established, grandiose singers who are a huge part of Illyrian culture there.
If you’d like more, or would like us to talk more specifically, let us know!
Any of our open skeletons are most wanted. I’m still working on ideas for connections and such, but if you have a specific idea in mind, let us know! We are really good at fitting what you’re thinking into this massive puzzle of connections!
But, we are going to assess from members what sorts of connections they’d be interested in having, then compiling a list.
That may or may not have been a heavy inspiration! I’ll be posting deceased bios of the two former kings soon, and you’ll be pleased to know that Ian McShane is the face claim for Richard Winters.
We are going to create an OOC page, complete with listing everyone’s alias, timezone, whether or not they are underage, who they play, and their best forms of communication. We have some of your information from your applications. If members could send us an ask for what they’d like posted, we will get it up as soon as possible.

“It has been assumed that Prince Erich of Goth was sent to Illyria in hopes of bridging a gap for Goth and Illyria, a country who wishes to ensure that the transition to the new monarch and the handling of the Cerberus crisis are effectiv. No one wants to see this terrorist organization gain a new target before it has been handled, and the Goth monarchs want to ensure that the “disease” of a succession crisis does not spread and destabilize neighboring states in the European continent. Whether or not that will prove to be beneficial, we will find out.”
- Colchester Gazette
“At the moment we see a young Prince who has been doing well. His personal life seems stable for now. With two children by his wife, the Princess Margaret, Prince Erich is not particularly known for having affairs. With a tight image, we don’t have much to comment on just yet. We are just waiting with baited breath for him to screw up in front of Illyrian cameras. That would be stellar for the Goth reputation in the European union.”
Erich was born ten years into the rule of his father, Wilfred, to much fanfare and excitement. The rule of the House of Falkenheim had ensured the quick recovery and prosperity of the country, and so the birth of another heir was tremendously exciting. It was seen that the young Erich would be a great ruler someday, just like his grandfather and father had turned out to be. His education began from a very early age, not just with private tutors, but learning first hand by watching his father rule the kingdom closely. Erich showed a particular aptitude and understanding of international diplomacy and the high stakes economic/trade negotiations that an emergent Gotha was getting involved in. His strength as a leader and as a man has been proven all the more when he took up a modest soldier’s life and served in the Gotha Air Force as a pilot.
At just the age of 25 and newly engaged to the Ithacan princess, Margaret, Erich ascended to the role of Regent of Gotha. His father had taken very ill and could no longer rule on his own, and Erich took up the crown for a brief time. Though there were many who worried that such a young and inexperienced regent would be unable to fill the large role his father temporarily stepped away from, Erich proved them all quite wrong. Erich quickly became the darling of domestic and international politics. He proved himself a skillful negotiator, intense yet accommodating, and the policy direction he followed clear and successful, driven by evidence and produced effective outcomes. There was no question that Erich was the right man for the job of King and there has been much talk about King Wilfred never returning to the throne.
However, after five years of Erich’s regency, King Wilfred recovered from his long battle with cancer and returned to the throne. Erich passed rule back to his father gracefully, speaking of the fact that he was only a caretaker of the crown as opposed to its ruler. He spoke of wanting to return to power once again, but of course, spoke of how the kingdom had much to gain from the far greater knowledge and experience of his father. Having stepped down, Erich took on the role of being the kingdom’s top diplomat - and thus he has found himself in Illyria.
Erich has a very private family life despite his very public life. His marriage to Princess Margaret of Ithaca was a marriage of convenience at the start, but they grew to love each other. Erich is the father of an 8 year old daughter, Princess Elisabeth. After her birth two years into his regency, at Erich’s request, King Wilfred passed the Succession to the Crown Act, which proclaimed that the first born child, regardless of gender, could inherit the crown, making Elisabeth second in line to the throne. Such a change made him very popular among Goth’s predominantly liberal population, and is also serving to make him popular amongst Illyrians who support Queen Alexandra. He also has a two year old son, Friedrich. Though he is in Illyria for the time being, his family has remained in the Goth court.

Goth is a country neighboring Illyria. Below is a brief history of the country.
Less than two hundred years ago, the area now known as “Gotha” was divided into dozens of different principalities and smaller kingdoms comprising the Goth states. Each principality was independent, though they formed the Goth Confederation which enabled the coordination of the Goth economies and social integration between the different Goth peoples. Then in 1870, the Confederation became a unified state under a model of constitutional monarchy - with elected officials serving in Parliament, and a King as the head of state. This model largely failed, and the system - which came to be aggressively ruled by military and industrial oligarchs who looked for the domination of Gotha over the rest of Europe. The first attempt to dominate the continent resulted in the First World War. Gotha’s crushing defeat and the crippling economic impact of war reparations further destabilized the state, enabling the rise of an extreme fascist government - the Nazis - that gained the military force to roll over Europe and perpetrate genocide. After the defeat of the Nazis, the international allied powers decided to install an absolute monarchy that was friendly to the allied powers and could control the various spheres of influence that would otherwise have destabilized Gotha again and brought about yet another war. Thus, the House of Falkenheim - a minor branch of the Goth ruling family who had been exiled for opposing the Nazi regime - was installed on the throne. Gotha quickly emerged as an economic powerhouse in the continent, as it already had the existing industrial base that simply needed to be rebuilt and the highly educated population (though decimated by the war and the subsequent invasion) to do it. Gotha also received significant aid from the Allies to rebuild and to ensure that the chaos which came at the end of the First World War did not return. With the guidance of the House of Falkenheim and the statesmanship of the successive kings Alfred and Wilfred, and the regency of Wilfred’s son, Erich, Gotha is now one of the most powerful states and largest economies in the world.
We are going to go for a rolling principle. 24 hours after we receive an application is when we’ll review and make acceptances.
