False Postive

Zails wasn’t sure how to go about letting a happy father know that his wife wasn’t pregnant. Sure, it wasn’t such terrible news, but he had seemed so happy when he came by asking for vitamins for his expectant wife that he knew he wasn’t going to be happy about it at all. He approached Scourge who seemed happy to see him, and shook his hand.

“Thank you for seeing me. Seeing as how you came to me for help, I decided to give your wife a routine exam to check up on her pregnancy and… well, it would seem as though the test she took was a false positive.” he explained to him.

“I’m very sorry… I know you were looking forward to more children, but you’ll just have to try with her again.”

Amy sighed ” oh thank god i didnt kill it..” she rubbed her face ” but Scourge..”

Zails took her hand and smiled a bit. “Don’t worry. He might be disappointed but it’s not like you and him couldn’t try again, right? I’ll be more than happy to break the news?”

Amy frowned. ” um..ok.. yes please.. i just..i cant see the look on his face when he finds out..” she bit her lip and trembled

“Of course. Now let’s get you dressed so I can get you back home someplace warm.” he smiled.

“i-i trust you not to hurt me so its ok..” she bit her lip and pulled of her panties and laid on her back, her legs closed tightly and subconsciously not willing to move.

“Thank you, I promise it won’t hurt at all.” he promised as he sat in front of her and began his exam. “I’ll just need to open up here for a moment…” he said as he guided her legs apart. He could tell she was nervous; a combination of embarrassment and perhaps fear for her child. “You might feel a bit of pressure for a moment, and I’ll be done.”

Zails took a quick look at her and knew right away what the problem was. “Hmm. All done, Mrs. Laufeyson.” he stood and removed his gloves, throwing them out. “The good news is that your cervix isn’t purple… a very tell-tale sign of pregnancy. You aren’t pregnant, and you didn’t hurt your child. The bad news is… well, you aren’t pregnant, if that’s what you were hoping for.” he said as he took a look over the results of her blood test. “This confirms my suspicions. Your over the counter test was most definitely a false positive.”

Amy sighed ” oh thank god i didnt kill it..” she rubbed her face ” but Scourge..”

Zails took her hand and smiled a bit. “Don’t worry. He might be disappointed but it’s not like you and him couldn’t try again, right? I’ll be more than happy to break the news?”

“yea ok” she trusted him so she didnt put up a fit. she quickly striped and put the gown on, but left her panties. she sat back on the table and waited for him

Zails returned. “The results should be in before I’m even done with this.” he said with a comforting smile. “I’ll have to examine your cervix… I’m afraid you’ll have to lose the undergarments.” he explained as he put on some gloves. He had many a zone cop come to him for unplanned and planned pregnancies; he’d done this a few times and knew what to look for. “I’m very sorry if it’s embarrassing, Mrs. Laufeyson.”

Amy bit her lip “o-ok..” she tensed

The fox took her hand and lead her to the exam table and had her sit down. He swabbed her arm with alcohol before reaching for some instrument to draw blood from her wrist. “This will hardly hurt.” he said as the tool made a snapping sound. It quickly stabbed her skin and drew a very small sample of blood. He set it aside and swabbed again, then covered the small wound with a red liquid that soon began to bubble; within seconds he wiped it off and she was healed.

“This is a healing gel made with stem cells. It will fix anything from small scrapes to third degree burns. Very useful.” he muttered as he patched her up and walked off to put the sample in a machine. “I will have to ask you to put on an exam gown and remove your clothing, please.”

Zails stood and offered his hand. “Please, come with me. I’d prefer to use the equipment in my office.” he said. “Please, don’t be nervous. We’ll have this all settled soon.” With that, he opened his warp ring and hopped through to his office, helping Amy through.

“Now I’ll need two things from you… a simply blood test, and then a physical exam. Neither should take long.”

“n-no! he’d be so dissiponted.. i think i killed it..” she whimpered and bit her lip “ i-i smoked some cigarettes cause i was upset and then i took another test and it said negative..i kept taking them but they where negative..” she covered her face “ Scourge is going to kill me..”

Zails shook his head. “Don’t frett. You couldn’t possibly have killed your child with one night of smoking. It’s far more likely your previous positives were false. If the baby was unfortunately lost, you’d still have a positive test. Don’t be upset. If you’d like, I can give you a more thorough examination and we can explain it to him, if you’d like.”

“I believe I began to grow when I turned 14… from then on, it was nonstop until I was about seventeen.” he replied, ears twitching.

“Do not worry, Amy. I would never dream of bringing any harm to you.” he reassured as he laid her on a hospital bed and began clicking away at the computers. Mechanical arms and scanners went about her body checking out the damage to her. “Oh I see now… hmm. Well, they could have done much better to cure you, but I will fix that mistake.”

Within a few moments, she felt a comforting warmth as one of the machines began to emit a light yellow light in her. It seemed to be beginning some kind of healing process.

“Just lie still for a few moments. Care to chat?”

He took her hand and slowly walked her along the long, metallic hallways of the Dyson Sphere, taking her right to where the med bay was located. He didn’t want to draw this out. “It looks as though you have a serious injury. I will stay alongside you until I see that you’re well enough to go home.”
