Compilation of my tweets while listening to the goddamn 6-hour stream
- Ishida’s general recs for this section: BNHA (cutest character: Toga, best drawn part: hands), Midsommar (because of Bjorn Anderson), Persona games (all of them)
Ishida: I don’t really care for magazines, I prefer online publishing. Jump+? Hahaha no, they’d kick me out. Not that they ever invited me.
Q: is a weekly series hard?
A: of course it’s hard! How did I even do that? I was sleepy all the time. I don’t like page count restrictions and such things, so I’d be okay with a bi-weekly or monthly release. People do read weeklies more though…
He reallllly wants to try a One Punch Man model where he publishes online and then physical volumes come out normally.
re: Choujin X: I’m really worried that I won’t be able to fit into the 18-19 page count that’s normal wor a weekly
People keep asking him if he’s going to serialize in Young Jump this time around as well, and he keeps dancing around the answer (the current one is “Oh no, not YanJan, but TonaJan, the best magazine ever” both referring to Tonari no Young Jump, but YanJan is the physical edition and TonaJan is the web-only edition)
Ishida: I don’t want any information about me to be on wikipedia but I’m so offended that it has nothing other than my birthday
Takahashi (osterreich’s composer whom Ishida called bc bored): isn’t Choujin X coming out in January? Or are you waiting for Jack & Jeanne first?
Ishida: idk? I want to finish writing it first
T: gonna be a bestseller again
I: yeah, watch it be the worst seller ever
- it almost seems like Ishida’s planning to shop his new series around after finishing the manuscript, but it can’t be, can it? But what it DOES definitely sound like is that he plans on having more creative control
I’m like 2.5 hrs into this livestream btw and I’m only listening with half an ear. I just heard something about streaming games and Ishida was like, you need EIGHT friends where would I get EIGHT (oh and he mentioned he wanted to try Cyberpunk 2077 next early on)
Ishida: a runner, bakes cakes, played voleyball (bc he wanted to master a spike), gamer, knows his philosophy. A worthy bride indeed.
T: let’s swap dating stories
I: my first date was at a fresh produce market. Where I was immediately dumped.
T: on the first date?
I: they didn’t like the fresh produce market idea
T: how old were you?
I: like… seventeen? I didn’t know where to go! It was deep countryside!
- oh he mentioned that Chainsawman’s Fujimoto was his first commenter/fan back on the NEET forum, which: I just found that out recently, wild that he’d say it! Ishida actually drew him fanart (of a Penisman character for some reason). Ishida’s like, “I can never think of him as “fujimoto-kun” lol”
Oh Ishida doesn’t use assistants anymore? It was in the middle of a joke but this specific bit didn’t sound like a joke.
Me reading the text on Choujin X pages while Ishida is hiding it: bitch you can’t hide it fast enough I have a PAUSE button
(so they are literal supermen? 増えてるってどう言う意味 “does the bug know it lives under a rock” ah here it is, classic Ishida)
they’re trying to remember greetings in other languages: somehow ended up googling how to say things in Russian
Turns out Ishida’s TG editor has been appointed to Tonari no YJ (the web magazine) committee (and also promoted to deputy editor-in-chief for WYJ), so who knows, maybe he’ll serialize in the web version…
Takahashi: I remember you near the end of TG. You kept insisting you’d end with a tournament arc
Ishida: lmao I decided against it
Takahashi: and then you said you’d end it with a literal explosion
Ishida: I was very tired
- Takahashi and Ishida apparently go way back, since Takahashi remembers how alternately hyper and despairing Ishida was right before TG’s serialization. Talk about nepotism! (later, in the anime)
