Hundreds - no, thousands - of years spent recharging. Dormant beneath the crust of some planet he didn't know the name of, he awoke, ripping out of the ground with all of the destructive force of a mountain breaking apart. He'd abandoned the planet shortly after, finding that it had not evolved far after his initial landing.
After finding shelter in the little explored parts of Cybertron's Rust Sea - one of the few places he'd felt comfortable in - he had set out to find signs of life in his old home, using his holoform.
And that is what led to him wandering through the ruins of some city he didn't know, snout to the ground as he snuffled through the wreckage, large dark horns occasionally scraping over the ground. The sights were different, outside of the Rust Sea and the Dead End, but the scents were about the same. Energon, both old and fresh, spilled from war, hunts and desperation, no doubt. Oil, coolant. Smoke and fear and fire.
Cybertron hadn't completely changed in his time away. The familiarity brought him some comfort. It wasn't much, but it was something, and for that the golden and grey predacon was grateful to whatever luck preserved his home.
Delicate audios heard something - something small. Sun-Eater paused, helm rising from the ground as bright, glowing green optics surveyed the area around him. He saw nothing but crumbling buildings; all other senses screamed a different story, though, and snarled, grand wings flaring out as he stood proudly, snarling into the gloomy shadows that surrounded the ruins.
"I AM NOT TO BE TRIFLED WITH, YE WANDERER, SHOW YOURSELF NOW OR BECOME THE PREY OF A TRUE PREDACON!"
Predictions for the new classes (going round the most recent table flow) based on late night discussion between my girlfriend and I.
Travis: Sorcerer. Travis chose Pact of the Blade warlock so he could still hit stuff but he really enjoyed spellcasting this time round and with a barbarian under his belt too, I’m unconvinced that he’ll go melee again.
Laura: Bard. She had so much fun animating jester and being a spellcaster. The only other immediate thought it warlock since she forewent it for Travis, but that seems less likely now for obvious reasons re patrons.
Liam: Druid. I think Liam really enjoyed being a spell casting class this time around, but more importantly I think he fucking LOVED being animals all the time after her got polymorph. Druid seems a natural next step.
Sam: Cleric. Hear me out. Sam went from a bard and then briefly artificer to a rogue. He’s been a bit all over. But I think even we he was a rogue he was using his abilities for battlefield control, so I think he might go for that sort of class and also be able to run Laura about her non healing cleric for another 3 years.
Ashley: Rogue. Ashley seems to have really enjoyed being a hitter over spell casting, and I think being a barbarian was helpful for her because Travis was there to remind her of stuff. I can see Ashley playing a class which has some tradition around the table so there are players to remind her to use special skills.
Taliesin: unknowable-Artificer? Look. Look. Of the three characters Taliesin has played 2 custom classes/sub classes and one class which was narratively necessitated by his own character death. I’m going with my gut for artificer but I’ve got no clue to be honest. I also see sorcerer as a possibility but who knows.
Marisha: Ranger(?) I love Keyleth, but Marisha did so amazingly without having to maintain a spells list. I think she’ll probably enjoy a Ranger as a character that can be a bit earthy (get back to her roots, pun!) but also is fundamentally a physical attacker. Otherwise, we’ve been going between fighter for it’s pure melee or Barbarian for the sweet sweet moment when Marisha would inevitably ask to rage.
Most of the classes are from CR1 so I’m not certain they’d go for this as a combo. Matt might try to encourage mixing in some new blood, but they are running out of untried options. However, there’s lots of subclass options and specialisms so who knows.
Races and accents are also on my mind but they’re sort of unguessable due to their vastness. I hope someone goes a bit weird with an Aarakocra or something else a bit odd. The Goliath, goblin, and firbolg in particular have offered some great moments and I’d like to see more of that.
