such a fun manga from Koda Momoko and the second i recommend for shoujo, the first is Boku no orion.
if you read Heroine Shikkaku then you know about Koda Momoko sensei and her unparalleled ability to make a love triangle story hilarious, one of my problems with shoujo is that they make the FL so dull and boring to the point i drop the series altogether.
is different i love her personality and expression
the better, i want to see more of this manga, i hope we get an update soon.
it’s hard to write a review without having the the urge to spoil too much, so if you like reading shoujo every now and then like me, give this manga a chance.
So, apparently 13 year old Hoshiki Nana’s debut 音信の雪/inshin no yuki/Snow’s Tidings has been making some noise after being released with Betsuma’s March issue. After briefly leafing through the issue, I gotta say, that’s not without reason. Compared to the average quality of a lot of the other serialized works in the magazine, it’s pretty outstanding work.
Maybe I’m just a sucker for clean lines, but that’s a pretty no-nonsense style for a shoujo manga heroine. The story is, well, a love story, moreover one that begins with a dose of the good old “I don’t really know the feelings of ‘love’ or ‘hate’“ (*cough* don’t worry, Yuu, you’re still my favorite *cough*). It’s a well written one-shot, comprised mostly of a conversation between Ooda-san and her beau-to-be Kitashima-kun (they’re both total cutiepies, I mean just look at that:
) at the train station. Main topic: snow and when and how it’s gonna snow again and who doesn’t like or likes *hint hint nudge nudge* snow. (Also good guy Kitashima-kun lends Ooda-san his muffler.)
Kitashima-kun makes to take the regular train (whereas Ooda-san usually would take the Express) and they say goodbye for the day. Or do they?
“I’m taking this one, too!”
This just has to be my very first love …
If this gets a serialization, or indeed if Hoshiki-san releases another work, I’ll be sure to pick it up again. She can only get better with time and certainly already has the tidings (heh) of a great romance author – or maybe even something completely different? I’ll be on the lookout and report back for sure.
Finally got my copy of the May issue of Betsuma!!! The articles saying it’s about Kazehaya and Sawako’s long distance relationship are very misleading. It’s a Kurumi chapter….a Kurumi x Eiji Akahoshi chapter. The 2nd male lead from Shiina’s previous manga ‘Crazy For You’ was revealed to be Sawako’s cousin in a short side story years ago and he makes a long appearance in this chapter with Sawako and Kurumi. It looks like an interesting chapter (they look a good pair) but… I am a bit disappointed that we don’t see Pin,Ayane, Chizuru, Ryu, etc. I’m guessing, with the announcement of another side story, that we’ll get one centred on each of the other couples (and possibly Kento?) eventually but it might be months, even years away. 😩
