I hear a lot of people talking shit and spreading rumors about the whole conflict (as they always have) and im sick of it?? I always say to get your information straight before going on a tyrant and their response?

"what happens in those countries is too confusing."

Okay?? Cool but like you could make the effort to try and learn instead of just spouting baseless shit?? I still don't 100% understand and I actively try and get my facts straight about the history and conflicts that both are experiencing. If your not willing to take the time to learn about a countries struggles values and history, keep your mouth shut.

I know I don’t need to say it but bombing media offices reporting on your military committing acts that if Palestine had international standing would be international crimes is making me seriously concerned that larger scale ethnic cleansing to going to take place

#also bombing refugee camps #and firing on people while they’re in a house of worship praying? #oh baby that’s not good

MOVE bombing victims' remains weren't cremated, says Philadelphia mayor

MOVE bombing victims’ remains weren’t cremated, says Philadelphia mayor

The remains of MOVE bombing victims thought to have been cremated and disposed of have been found, according to Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. The discovery came a day after city Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley was forced to resign for ordering the remains to be cremated in 2017. Kenney says he was notified Friday afternoon that a box labeled “MOVE” was found in a refrigerated area of the…

The Israeli army made Hamas a 'trick' with vague media statements on the Gaza attack.

The Israeli army made Hamas a ‘trick’ with vague media statements on the Gaza attack.

The vaguely worded statement aroused frenzied speculation that Israel had launched a ground attack on Gaza – a much-anticipated scenario that would mark a bloody escalation of this week’s operation against Hamas militants. Some journalists were also told that infiltration had started. In early Friday, just after midnight, the Israeli military made an ominous statement in front of the media: “IDF…

The Jedi make a lot more sense if you look at them through the lens of harm reduction.

A lot of criticisms run along the lines of "they lost the moral high ground by joining the war" and framing the discussion like that misses the point entirely.

It was never about having an arbitrary amount of Good Guy Points at the end of the day. It was about lessening harm as much as their position allowed.

In fact, if you go into any discussion about how to help people with the idea that there is a moral high ground, you've already lost! You are having the wrong conversation. Keep walking.

There is no good or bad here. Just people.

I don't want people to do hard drugs, because it's bad for them. However, I cannot wave a magic wand and make people stop wanting to do drugs. You know what I can do, though? Support a needle exchange program!

I don't want people to do hard drugs, but I've accepted that a needle exchange will alleviate suffering. Does increasing access to harmful drugs go against my personal sense of ethics? Sure! Does that change the fact that needle exchanges help people survive long enough until they can get into treatment? Nope!

The war was never gonna vanish if the Jedi resisted being drafted. They realized that. They understood that the way they could do the most good, spare the most lives, was by accepting the appointment and having some power to effect change rather than none at all.

Is it a perfect solution? Of course not! But harm reduction is about accepting that there are no perfect solutions, and that you are sometimes gonna have to do shit you don't personally like in order to help.

Helping people is not about your ego. It doesn't matter how you feel about the zoomed-out conceptual view, because your personal feelings have no bearing on someone else's suffering.

Anytime the argument drifts into bleating about how peacekeepers shouldn't fight, the thread is lost.

#there are literally a million things I'm pre-emptively disappointed with in the temple bombing arc #if barriss is supposed to be anything other than the galaxy's worst healer how could she not understand harm reduction #star wars

Sadly some things hit closer than others. A teacher from "La Terra dei Bambini" had her house bombed on Thursday. The attack killed a child and three adults in her family.

Um Al Nasser is a beduin village in the Gaza strip, and the school the teacher works at was build for the beduin community with the help of Vento di Terra NGO, a small but mighty NGO that I have been volunteering in for years.

They are constantly in contact with their staff there and it's so fucking hard hearing the news every few hours wondering if your friend or coworker has been hit by a bomb.

It was heartbreaking hearing Fatima's voice (another teacher) yesterday telling that they are gathered with the children in the school and there's no water, no food, no electricity. The hospitals are struggling, with the Covid crisis and years and years of Israel blocking their access to medicines and equipment, and now there's hundreds of people that need urgent care.

This is the biggest strike on Gaza since 2014, more than a hundred civilians are dead. At least 30 children are dead. The places that are being hit are people homes and offices, they are not fucking "Hamas headquarters". Israel has the most advanced military technology in the world, they have surveillance technology to rival China and you want me to believe they really think those homes are Hamas hiding places ?

When you hear that "the conflict is complicated" or "we have to hear both sides" please remember that although the history is complicated the present is really fucking clear: there's an oppressor and an oppressed. Israel checks all the boxes for being an apartheid state .

Philadelphia official resigns after saying he cremated the remains of MOVE bombing victims. But the story isn’t over

However, on Friday, it was unclear what exactly had happened as the city announced that the remains were discovered in a refrigerated section of the Medical Examiner’s Office. “This action lacked empathy for the victims, their family, and the deep pain that the MOVE bombing has brought to our city for nearly four decades,” Kenney said in a statement. “The Team investigating this incident will…

the fact that there are still posts on tumblr with like 200-300 notes talking about how Isr*el has a right to defend itself means you need to work overtime to spread the truth

and that is that Israel is demolishing residential towers — and they KNOW they are residential because of the rare occasion they give residents a head start to evacuate before their home is demolished. And they know there are children in them, and they are demolishing them anyway

if you can rationalize that as self defense then it's clear you do not think our lives mean anything. it means you think those deaths are acceptable.

#I keep hearing from family and friends over there how they're sleeping in the corridors with their jewelry and valuables #in case they need to evacuate on short notice #their kids are so scared they're physically ill #literally if you even entertained the thought that 'isr/ael has a right to defend itself' fucking look at yourself in the mirror #Palestine#free Palestine#gaza #save sheikh jarrah #child death cw #bombing cw#genocide cw #ethnic cleansing cw #paptalk
