Morning - coming soon
LMAOOO 4 ballades in f minor and 2 fantasies in f-minor. We're looking at an f-minor kind of day!
Riko Imai - nice nocturne! Right into revolutionary! just a little uneven. good limited pedal, the notes are really easy to hear. i appreciate that. wrong note etude seems pretty unremarkable. moderate tempo, fine. Ballade was a little subdued but clean. Pretty solid performance. Probably safe to round 1. Rec: Etude 10-12 (7:34)
Sze Yuen Wong - less common nocturne i think? it's nice and a little unremarkable. octaves basically fine, a bit of note mashing. Winter wind slower than usual? Basically clean but unremarkable. Nice mazurkas. How am I supposed to judge this ballade? it's impressive but they all are. Rec: Nocturne 55-2 (2:15)
Victoria Wong - nice nocturne as usual lol. nice wrong note etude, clean and unremarkable. This is a very clean sunshine etude! started a bit fast and a bit much pedal on the end but generally clean. this fantasy sounds cool but doesn't it always? A few note mashes near the end. Well, I always like this fantasy. lol she makes really goofy faces. Rec: Etude 10-8 (11:55)
Maciej Wota - starting with the fantasy! back to back fantasies! very slow and rhythmically regular intro, but it kinda works! Like a funeral march, sorta. Ok this is a legit really nice fantasy. all the notes are important and the sound is deep. a few note mashes. The last fast section got away from him. Would love for him to clean it up and play it again. nice sound on the nocturne. Not the cleanest black keys etude, but a very exciting one. Not the cleanest 10-10 either. mashing notes all over the place. loud and exciting mazurkas. I'm really torn. I love his interpretations but that's just too many wrong notes. Rec: Etude 10-5 (20:49) - Not the cleanest black keys etude, but a very exciting one.
Maiqi Wu - nocturne seemed fine, not super interesting. first mazurka felt a bit unremarkable. second is a bit more interesting, has more of a mazurka swoopy feel. still seems to go on a while. sunshine etude tone is clear but i feel like some of the fast notes are getting skipped. settled down a bit in and it's good now. maybe started too fast? nice leggiero tone. etude 25-4 a straightforward and not dramatic interpretation but clean. Ballade basically fine I think, really fast coda. Not entirely feeling this interpretation. Rec: Etude 10-8 (15:15)
Yuchong Wu - nocturne seemed fine. i'm liking this arpeggios etude. nice twinkly sound. not sure i like this ending flourish but it's interesting. sunshine etude sounds sorta muddled throughout. I like this first mazurka. the ballade was fine I guess. Rec: Etude 10-11 (7:38)
If you were to ask me what my favorite song of all time was, this would be the answer.

🎹Alternating between these two books. I love Joan Didion. I love the way she’s able to write in present tense and take topics on one at a time. She really allows you to soak up the moment in the book. Magical Thinking is incredibly meditative in that way. I love that kind of book. Highly recommended.🎹
26 Jul 2021 // Been feeling in a Raindrop Prelude mood lately so that's what I've been practicing today and yesterday... Trying to practice performing it but I keep finding places that I play the way I want it to sound inconsistently so I keep going back before continuing on. I think what I should do is *stop* continuing on for now, zero in on those inconsistent areas, and practice playing them the way I want it to sound until it always sounds like that when I play it XD On the bright side, that third page which I've struggled with since the first time I learned this is flowing much better! 😊🎉
Day 21 - Tag someone you think works really hard and deserves appreciation
Tagging @studyviolette who actually pulled an all-nighter for her qualifying exam recently and deserves all the time for R&R she can get 💆 because all-nighters and big exams take a *lot* out of you and she made it through successfully!
