“Until we meet again” | Perseus x GN!Bell!Reader | Part 3
Warnings: Mentions of depression and poor mental effects.
Before you and Perseus returned to Verdansk, you and the Perseus Collective headed to Solovetsky to relocate supplies and weapons. After a day’s work, you and Perseus headed to the cliffsides.
“Nothing beats arctic air.” You took a deep breath in the nose and out through the mouth. Then it occurred to you.
You never managed to do that during your time in the CIA. Whenever you took a breath, tension in your neck, shoulders and chest. flared up. The habit of looking over your shoulder was tiring your eyes out. It was almost as though a dark cloud was floating around you, weighing you down.
After ridding yourself of the plague that was Russell Adler, your chest loosened.
You felt as though you could breathe again.
Perseus took a great look at his surroundings.
The skies were clear. The sun’s reflection on White Sea. And most important of all...
His comrade...no. His beloved was by his side.
The one who persevered despite the odds. The one whose loyalty defied all. The one who brought the CIA’s plan to ruin.
That one was you.
“Comrade...” He turned back to you.
“At the moment of truth, you chose to fight for the past and the future glory of our homeland. I will do whatever it takes for your sacrifice not to go in vain.“
“I owe you my life.“
Perseus got down on one knee. “And I would want to spend the rest of it with you.”
Your stomach dropped. It was almost surreal. For a minute there, you thought you were to be executed for “outliving your usefulness.“ For being a loose end.
“Y/N, you have made me the happiest man in the world. Will you marry me?“
Without a second thought, you rushed the man, firmly embracing him.
“YES, YES, YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!“ You immediately pressed your lips toward his. You kissed him harder, to show how much you yearned for his presence. He happily kissed back, without hesitation.
His breath was minty fresh, which indicated his impeccable dental hygiene. This was the best part in your opinion.
You both pulled away to catch some air. After you got back up on your feet, you pressed you foreheads together and rubbed your noses against each other. You decided to get things off your chest.
“Lyubim, I knew you would never abandon me. The Americans may have imprisoned me, but I have broken free. And I will continue to break free. Thank you for not giving up on me.“
Tears welled up in his eyes and rolled down his cheeks. He never realized just how The CIA nearly broke you. At that moment he took a vow. A vow to aid and protect you and make the United States pay for what they did.
“Lyubimo, there is nothing more valuable to me than your safety. Anyone who dares to violate you will suffer.“ He said with certainty.
Though there is still time needed for healing, you know you were not alone. You had your future husband beside you, determined to stand by you during your recovery.
