Headcanons under the cut

Okay, so Xiao’s original name is Alatus, which is a Latin name, and I have gone on to decide that Red Xiao’s name is Cassius. I chose the name Cassius for him not only due to its Latin origin, but also because it means hollow, empty, or vain.
This is because he and Xiao were supposed to be one person. Cassius was created first, but the creator decided they had a different plan and turned it into Xiao instead. However, because the creator still held a love for Cassius, Teyvat itself decided to use the residual power to create Cassius after Xiao had awoken. Due to him technically being a creation of Teyvat and not the creator, he always felt like something was missing. He could feel the god’s light much like Xiao did, but it never flowed through him or connected with him the same way. He always felt a bit empty, and he knew exactly why.
When he woke up, he was alone. He was born in a different location than Xiao, and he didn’t know where to start looking for him. So he stayed in the area for a while. He was alone, and unlike Xiao, who knew exactly where to wander, Cassius didn’t. It was basically like if you took a human child and threw them into the world to survive.
Now, this leads to the formation of their non-human forms. The name Alatus means "winged," which is what tells us that Xiao’s other form likely had wings, but Cassius didn’t give me that vibe. I feel like his other form would be some kind of serpent. While Alatus is bound to the skies and spends his time travelling and flying, Cassius is bound to the earth, days spent slowly making his way through the world, and taking in what’s around him, trying to find a way to stop the emptiness within him. I feel like it’s a nice contrast, isn’t it?
This is also why they never met each other until much, much later in life. Alatus would often spend his days flying from place to place while Cassius wandered beneath the trees and through caves. They just kept missing each other.
They didn’t meet each other until long after the Archon War. It wasn’t any sort of dramatic or worthwhile meeting or anything. While Xiao was healing after a particularly harsh battle, one of the newer Yakshas saw Cassius and thought Xiao had done something new with his look. Cassius questioned him and managed to get him to direct him to where his brother was staying, and it was then that they met.
Both brothers were shocked to see each other. Both of them immediately felt a sense of sadness.
For Xiao, it was because he had a brother this whole time who he hadn’t known about. Why didn’t he know? He actually had a family. When he was still Alatus, he would often see other families and wonder what it would be like to have siblings of some sort, and turns out he had one this whole time?
For Cassius, it was because of the state his brother was in. Cassius is a laid-back person, so he was never too concerned about finding his brother, he knew they’d meet when the time was right. But right now, he can’t help but feel like he should’ve tried harder. All the scars visible on his brother’s body hurt his soul. All this time he’s been wandering and living life without a real care in the world, other than the emptiness he feels, and his brother had been kidnapped? Tortured? What would’ve happened if they had met sooner? Would he have been able to stop it from happening? Would he have been taken as well? Would they have been able to escape together?
Cassius also felt a small spark of jealousy when seeing the creator’s light flowing through his brother, but that didn't last long. After seeing his brother’s scars, he decides that maybe it might be better that the creator didn’t watch him that closely. But a tiny bit of the jealousy still remains.
Now! Finally! Personality headcanons! I do like to believe that Cassius is flirty, but it’s because he finds people's reactions entertaining. If he actually likes someone, the flirting tones down a bit since he’s actually worried about impressing you now. I personally don’t feel like he’s a manipulative person, though. Like, if he has to, then he’s really, really good at manipulating people, but overall, it’s just not something he does pretty often. He’s also pretty laid back, and more often than not, you’ll find him napping in weird places. He’s also a very protective person. He worries a lot, even if he doesn’t show it, due to his brother being hurt by him not worrying enough.
Despite being empty and devoid of the god’s light, he’s still a devout worshipper and is very excited when Xiao agrees to teach him the things that he knows about them. When it comes to things concerning the creator, he trusts Xiao’s word over anyone else's, so when Xiao tells him that the imposter everyone was talking about was actually the creator themselves, he believes them without question. His belief is further cemented when he meets the "imposter" and he suddenly feels a rush of warmth, before glowing marks appear on his skin. He falls to his knees, realizing that the empty feeling that he’s been trying to get rid of his entire life is finally gone. The creator is here. They’ve found him and blessed him with their light, and he won’t ever lose it.
When it came to travelling there was always the possibility of danger, these hilichurls made that fact so much clearer but before he could pull his blade the traveler was already rescued by another swordsman, an armored maid from what he could tell but then his mind began to think, a maid, brute strength and geo vision..this must be the valiant maid-knight of Mondstadt, with the rush of the wind in his face Kazuha heard her aspirations, of what she wanted to be so badly and honestly if she continued to work like this then that dream would soon become a reality.
Whilst it was impressive the way she defended him from the number of Mitachurls, he couldn’t help but worry if she sustained any bodily injury herself. Slowly, with concern in his face he took a hold of her hand, his touch was gentle as his scarlet hues began to examine her. “You seem fine, oh me? Trust me, you’ve kept me quite safe from that monster. I was surprised there would be anyone else out here in the woods so far away from Mondstadt.” Letting her go and displaying a rather bright smile. “You have my eternal thanks Miss, you may call me Kazuha.”
