Something that gets me curious is Alexander Hamilton behavior during war, is a fact he didn't have the best moral compass during his life in MANY things and I consider he just became worse while his aging, and that's why is curious for me how he was during war. (Especially because most part of information about his personality is known during his politic and lawyer career).
And I could assume he always was an asshole BUT the people he met during war makes me think in some part of his life he had a hope of having some dencency or a true moral compass. I mean, he made friends with Lafayette, Meade and Laurens (all of them men with some dencency, we could say), probably the three deepest friendships in his life. And idk, it just strange for me thinking this three people would be Alexander's friends readily if he hadn't had a hope as a decent person. He wasn't an easy person to make friends with, however this people was patient and tried and I just think they hadn't tried if they hadn't seen something good in Hamilton.
I don't think he could be a saint but is still being an interesting thought.
It is also interesting think about the reasons when this hope died, personally, in a part I relate it with Laurens' death, despite if you think they were lovers or friends is a fact they changed each other life and the differences between Hamilton's cynicism and Laurens' idealism makes me think they gave moral issues to the other and the possibility of Laurens living after war opens a new view into their morals and points of view, also, I think Laurens was definitely a good influence for Hamilton in his personal and political life so that imaginary possibility is turned much interesting.
Those is one of the parts I like most about them, love and friendship aren't all about acceptance and tolerance, love and friendship are about becoming better and for me, they got it, good for them.

Washington: Okay. Rule number 1, do not go off on your own. Rule number 2, if you do go off on your own, do not go in the woods. Rule number 3, if you do go into the woods, never, ever, EVER make out in the woods, or you will DIE in the woods... Lafayette:
Washington: Where’s Laurens and Hamilton?
Lafayette: Breaking rules 1, 2 and 3.
Laurens spoke before thinking. “You, goddammit! You, me, all of this! I can’t take it anymore, Alexander!” He was barely aware of what he was saying anymore. “I don’t know who I am anymore, I just feel paralyzed with this feeling and I can’t shake it.” His eyes stung. “I’m not supposed to be feeling this, am I?”

John gulped a long, heavy breath behind him that sounded like he had been trapped underwater for too long, struggling to reach the surface, and had finally broken through.
And then, he wasn’t two steps away anymore.
In a dizzying whirl of movement, Alex was spun around and crushed back against the door.
John pressed in on him, all rough but no longer dirty hands and whisper-soft lips claiming his mouth in a bruising kiss. Alex’s own hands clawed into John’s muddied coat, his fingers tangled in the heavy fabric at his back, his waist, pulling him closer, drawing him in until even their little pocket of space fell away and it was just them, biting desperate kisses to the other’s lips.
