Being bothered or upset by something is not a sign of weakness; it's a sign of being human. Society likes to uphold this belief that not being fazed by things makes someone superior, that the ideal goal for us all is to stop being upset, hurt, or bothered by things in life. To be the bigger person, and not let things get to you. Just let things slide off your back.
But it's absolutely okay to be upset by things. It's okay to feel hurt. It's okay to be bothered. It's okay to feel real feelings. Shutting off our ability to feel bothered or upset by things does not make us better. Someone not being upset by something that someone said or did does not make them superior to us.
The goal should not be to not be hurt or upset by something: but to be able to accept when we are and process that in a healthy way. If we keep shaming people for showing "negative" emotions then people are less likely to accept and acknowledge those feelings and are more likely to become emotionally dysregulated.

Me: *manifests from the ether with a laser pointer and a PowerPoint presentation about why they’re amazing*
People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar.

Your heartbeat serves as evidence that you are stronger than the demons.
Seven days clean, not a big achievement but it's still an achievement all the same.
To anyone dealing with self harm, addiction, depression, anxiety etc, you will heal. It may not be today, not tomorrow or even next year but you will heal. You are all survivors! You are so strong, and worthy of a beautiful life ❤️
