My husband has Rheumatoid Arthritis so I was browsing the joint health section at my local Sprouts. I found Hyaluronic Acid supplements that are marketed for joint/cartilage/tendon health, but the claims on the back say that since HA molecules can hold 1000x their weight in water (I may be misremembering the exact claims) they also really benefit the skin too. For him, his chronic pain significantly improves the more hydrated he is, so I bought a 60 day supply for $15
I always read about how certain ingredients in topical serums, moisturizers, etc. are fairly pointless due to the skin only being able to absorb a certain amount. Like Collogen, topically doesn’t really do much, but orally has some effects. I’m not sure how HA works topically vs orally, since I’ve never seen it in a supplement. Considering picking up a bottle for myself- does anyone have experience with products like this? Does it give more noticeable results than topicals? In my head I’d think it would have better long term effects, but I am neither nutritionist nor skincare expert 🧐
