star wars au in which palpatine’s plans for taking over the galaxy don’t rely on him becoming the chancellor, rather he becomes the head of space buzzfeed with the intention of brainwashing the population with clickbait articles. this works surprisingly well and he obtains galactic control years before he did in actual canon.

Drunk emotional post:
You were warned:
All my life I’ve been a maladaptive day dreamer lost in my own worlds. No piece of media really captured my imagination enough for me to spend my time there, it always had to be my world.
And then Star Trek came along and totally shook up my world.
I always had this idea that Trek was this lame super nerdy thing that would never appeal to me or sweep me away into my own imagination.
But it has.
My own worlds and stories are still there and I still visit them but I also go into Gene Roddenberys world and for the first time in my life I feel like I’ve truly connected with another visionaries imagination. For the first time ever I’ve found this universe where I want to spend my time in fandom and in my own artistic way.
And that’s deeply gratifying because for so long I doubted my self like; “could somebody ever love my vision as much as I do?”
And being somebody who now shares another persons world in an intimate way I understand that somebody out there might be craving what I have to say. There might be another person out there that needs my stories to escape into. It inspires me to keep fighting to tell my stories because I know now what it feels like to truely love somebody else’s art!
So thank you Gene and all the actors, directors, writers, costume designers, FX artists, makeup artists, cinematographers, story board artists, stage hands, set designers, and creatives who made Star Trek possible.
You gave me a world to escape into when I most needed it, and you inspired me to continue making my own world.
I know now that no matter how bat shit wild and out-there my ideas are, that there’s a person who is looking for me, and it’s my responsibility to keep creating and working to deliver my own work.
Thank you Star Trek for being my light at the end of the tunnel. And thank you to everybody involved from the biggest star to the smallest stage hand for making that dream possible ❤️
Some wataeis from earlier this year
Tcw really introduced the most interesting clone and then proceeded to wipe his existence from everyone’s minds huh
Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker and Bilbo Baggins are each represented by one of the Deathly Hallows. Let me explain.
First we have Harry Potter represented by the Invisibility Cloak. He spent the first 10 years of his life locked away (figuratively and literally) from the magical world, not knowing he was famous. When he got to Hogwarts, he must have felt overwhelmed at being the famous student.
Next we have Luke Skywalker represented by the Elder Wand. He was the son of the prophisiced Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker. He held his father's lightsaber, got dismembered by said father and ultimately saw the light in his father when everyone couldn't except one person: Padmé.
Finally we have Bilbo Baggins represented by the Ressurection Stone. Now you may be thinking: 'uh Ryan, didnt Bilbo possess the One ring and when the Ring was on his finger it turned him invisible. Surely he would be better represented by the Invisibility cloak, right?' I agree with you and one or more of the Hallows might fit two characters, but I think that Bilbo is represented by the Ressurection Stone more because it's the intention of ones actions rather than the value that defines ones willingness to not cave in the face of danger. I also would like to add Percy Jackson for the exact same reasons.

Big games for Gotham and Chicago today. Standings are still so close at the bottom of those 6 playoff spots😬
thoughts about Jim Kirk saying he knows he'll die alone
as long as he has his ship, his crew, Bones, Spock, he knows he won't die. he won't die, he refuses to give up and he has so much faith and trust in them.
he'd sacrifice himself a hundred times over, because he can't be without them
how terrified he must have been in The Tholian Web "I had a whole universe to myself....there was absolutely no one else in it. I must say, I prefer a crowded universe much better." When you see the image of him shouting out for Spock, any hope that he's not alone.
the five year mission ends, Spock leaves him. and then we see him in TMP, "Spock, I wish you were here" "I need you" he says to both Bones and Spock. (don't let me be alone) Then he nearly loses Spock, risks his life to make sure Spock is okay. "I need Spock on the bridge"
in WOK, he's an Admiral now, he's lonely and feels old.
(also Spock basically saying "why did you accept position of Admiral? you belong at my side" and Jim's like "yeah ur right lol" then saying "I have been and always shall be yours" like I'll never leave you)
the Kobayashi Maru, he changes the fucking programming. he never gives up "I don't believe in the no win scenario" "you've never faced death" there's always a way out as long as he's not alone.
his face when he realises Spock isn't at his station, and then runs down to the engine room. he considers flooding the whole room with radiation just to get to Spock. "he's dead already" the devastation in his voice. losing the one who was there without fail, realising he won't be there anymore. "you never have faced death." "no, not like this" Spock's death means his own.
the beginning of SFS, losing Spock makes the whole ship feel so empty. he's back to feeling alone again after having got Spock back then losing him. even worse that he loses the Enterprise and he's starting to lose Bones too. he risks everything he has just for a chance to get them back. "you'll lose everything, you'll destroy yourself" David gets killed. he blows up the supposed love of his life (his ship) to have Spock. he can't even watch during the ritual which might lose him everything. "if I hadn't tried, the cost would've been my soul" "the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many" yes he was talking about the needs of Spock but also himself. he needs Spock, can't live without him.
let's be honest TVH is just a big ridiculous film so there aren't too many dramatic moments where they seriously think they'll die. but you can see the change in him from the first 3 movies. him and Spock are practically married in this.
"I've always known, I'll die alone." you can see Spock thinking he's never going to leave his side again even if it kills him, he spends the whole film trying to prove it to Kirk. he doesn't want to believe Spock betrayed him. "you're either with me or you're not" "I am here, Captain" he's saying you're not alone Jim, I'm right here with you. but Jim doesn't hear what he's saying. "I belong here". sacrifices himself for Spock and Bones, again. and this time he really thinks this is it, he thinks he's alone "what are you waiting for?". then the disbelief and pure adoration when he sees Spock. the moment he finally understands "you were never alone". he won't abandon him. then goes to kiss him THEY'RE FAMILY
mummy and daddy are fighting at the start of TUC :') Spock putting the tracker on him (idk if they planned it or not) just another reassurance that they're a team and they have each others backs. "come on, I need you"
Eli: Girls, this is my partner. Thrawn, these are the sky-walkers.
Thrawn: Why are they looking at me that way?
Un'hee: Eli sorta acts as a dad for us, so this is kinda like being told that you’re our new mom.
Thrawn: You are aware it is not like that at all, yes?
Un'hee: Sure, do you cook macaroni?
Alright. Here’s my Hot Take about Chris Pratt playing Mario:
Y’all don’t actually care about the casting, y’all just like shitting on Chris Pratt.
I know this because I’ve not seen a single person mad about Luigi (I’ve seen fanart of always sunny Luigi), and Charles Martinet voices Luigi too.
I’m just so tired of seeing this kind of “justified criticism” as a cover for not liking a specific actor.
Love how sexy Star Trek TOS is. 2 characters have appeared almost fully naked in this episode and it’s pretty tame all things considered. Desire is often a theme. Whoever wrote it was at least a little horny. I appreciate that.
