I just treated my scalp to some damiana & green tea. My previously itchy scalp feels soothed 😊🌿. I’m drinking this tea too; which is kinda relaxing and stimulating at the same time 😆.
I put my hair up in a puff, to keep it slightly stretched, and poured the tea over my head focusing on the scalp, massaging it into my roots. Yesterday I poured a different tea on my head of loose hair, and the SHRINKAGE was crazy, and the finger-detangling was a nightmare 😅…
My hair loves tea, when my hair isn’t too stripped of it’s natural oil.
I co-washed with the “Tropic Cool-Laid” papaya & pineapple Infinite Conditioner 12 days ago, which softened my hair until I rinsed it, THEN it was like I never even USED the product on it 😭. So then I put the “Proceed With Caution” mask in my hair for 2 hours covered with a plastic cap, and it got kinda soft, but I rinsed it out (with cool water) and it was like the whole thing NEVER HAPPENED 😭💔… So then, girl…. 🤣 I used leave-in product after leave-in product after LEAVE-IN PRODUCT, and STILL no luck! 😭😭😭 GOT damn.
So, dead-ass, I had to rinse that shit out (cuz it was just too oily while serving NO PURPOSE) , and just wrapped my hair up in a big cotton scarf, to go out in…. and the next day I just had to put the CHEAP shit in 😭. That Cantu is the go-to.
From now on I’m only tryna use tea, lime, lemon, oregano, essential oil rinses in some combination, to wash my hair weekly. Light rinses with tea in-between. Co-wash less frequently. And this “The Mane Choice” shampoo is for when I really need it 😩.
Last week I washed my hair with hot water and balsam fir essential oil & marjoram essential oil in olive oil as a carrier oil. But THREE washes ago I used green tea with lime, and it took 3 days of reapplying an African Pride & a Cantu product, and accumulated scalp oil, and a twist out, and a pony-puff all day that stretched it, and I got HOME n let my hair out, and NOW it looked cute as a fro 😭😭😭😭.

Girl power! Excuse my poor attempt at cursive on the ribbons…
that being said I wanna mindlessly Ask smthn of other BLACK or AFRO TEXTURED HAIR AFAB enby people who have an attatchment to their hair; how do you manage?
Growing up the way my hair has looked is a REALLY big part of my confidence level. While I’m not on the “I’m not leaving the house with my hair looking like this” kind of person, I also take pride in having my hair Done. I’ve been on a hair journey, but to keep this short, I have been growing my hair out for the past 3n a half years after a SUPER big chop. it’s at a decent length and I want it to keep growing to at least ass length lol. But I find it hard to find styles for it that lend to a more masculine look. I refuse to cut it short and I don’t often blow dry or flat iron (NEVER) it. It’s usually in buns or some kind of Afro. When it was shorter and it shrunk, I could braid the sides and rock a Mohawk but now my hair is too long for it to shrink to a not floppy Mohawk state. I used to have an undercut and I like the look it provides, but I’m not willing to cut my hair. I often think about buying cosplay wigs meant to be styled for anime boy hair and just wearing those w a beanie bc at this point it might be my only option. I also hate braiding my hair down into any kind of cornrow or anything bc it makes my head look like an ugly lil peanut and honestly I have a very round baby face so they cornrows don’t do anything for me 😭
TLDR: Im black have med length 4a/4b hair that I REFUSE to cut or color. How I manipulate it to look more masculine?
Any ideas, suggestions, pointers?
