    Hell, 1929 Stock Market Crash

Esteemed Mortal of New Orleans: The Deer Devil

They have never caught me and they never will. They have never seen me, for I am invisible, even as the sound waves that surround your earth. I am not a human being, but a demon and overlord from the hottest hell. I am what you Orleanians call the Deer Devil. Down here, I’m the inevitable Radio Demon.

When I see fit, I shall appear and claim other victims as I see fit. I alone know whom they shall be. No clues will be left behind, save for what you might hear on the next broadcast.

Tell the police and the racist, elite scum of the world to beware. Let them try not to discover who I am, for it’d be better for them not to have been born than to incur the wrath of the Deer Devil. You’ll have a deer in the headlights look and won’t have any idea what hit you until after it’s too late.

Undoubtedly, you Orleanians think of me as a monster and murderer. But if I wanted to hurt anyone else here, I would have done so already. If I wished, I could pay a visit to your city every night. I could kill every one of your best and worst citizens, for I am in a close relationship with the Shadows of the Other Side.

At 6:06 pm next Friday night, I am going to pass over New Orleans and then visit those in Hell. I am going to make a little proposition to you people. Here it is:

I am very fond of jazz music, electro swing, and jambalaya. I swear by all the Loas and deities that I will spare those who can provide me with some great entertainment when I visit. Word of warning, I can read you people like a book, and see into your very souls. Anyone foolish enough to challenge me will have their corpses consumed and their screams muffled by the lovely sound of jazz bands jamming the night away.

I have been, am, and will be, the worst spirit that ever existed in fact, fantasy, or realm of Hazbins.

    Smile and stay tuned!

    “Murder on the Air!”

Chapter 1: “Down in New Orleans”

    January 24th, 1896, 3:00 AM

(Alternate version of “Down in New Orleans” plays as Loretta gives birth to Alastor in the dead of night)

In the South Land, there’s a city

    Way down on the river

Where the women are very pretty

    And the men deliver

They got music, it’s always playin’

    Start in the day time

    Go all through the night

When you hear that music playin’

    Hear what I’m sayin’

    It make you feel alright

    Grab somebody, come on down

Bring your paintbrush, we’re paintin’ the town

Oh there’s some sweetness goin’ round

Catch it down in New Orleans

We got magic, good or bad

Make you happy or make you real sad

    Get everything you want

    Lose what you had

    Down here in New Orleans

    Hey, partner don’t be shy

Come on down here and give us a try

You wanna do some living before you die

Do it down in New Orleans

    Stately homes and mansions

Of the Sugar Barons, and the Cotton Kings,

Rich people, old people, all got dreams

Dreams do come true in New Orleans

    New Orleans history etc.

Alastor’s childhood favorite dish, almost killed his mother when hot sauce and ghost peppers were added…and when drunk Alastor’s father tried to poison Al’s mother.

Religious beliefs: rooted in ancestral worship, respect for elders, creation of charms and amulets (cure aliments, grant desires, hurt enemies). Catholic practices adapted, negative stereotypes of black people (as evil/primitive).

Voodoo ritual: preparation, invocation, possession, and farewell

Alastor’s mother communicates with the good loa but Alastor makes a deal with evil loa after finding the Satanic ritual book

Loretta Petit (famous black radio personality)

Marie Laveau (Louisiana Creole practitioner of Voodoo, part Native American, African and European)

    Alastor favorite music:

    Jazz

    Electro swing

    Post Modern Jukebox

Before Alastor became the powerful flamboyant overlord in Hell, he was an eccentric human being living in New Orleans. Along the way he discovers theater, jambalaya, singing, dancing…and the many ways to slaughter living things. Dealing with racism, poverty, and an abusive household, it’s no wonder his insanity made him known as the “Devil of the Night.” serial killer.

How long will the charming radio host get away with his actions?

And after meeting his death, what’s next?

The hellish past life of the infamous Radio Demon shall be told.

CURRENTLY IN OUTLINE FORM. HOPEFULLY MORE TO COME IN THE FUTURE.

Chapter 1: “Down in New Orleans”

Alastor birth January 24 1896 (Alastor’s birth and young childhood)

    Chapter 2: “Theatrical Geek”

1900: age 5, Alastor discovers his love of theater at school and his mother’s jambalaya. The elementary school kids pick on him for being awkward and his dad slaps him for the first time for not getting into sports.

Alastor is considered black based on the one drop rule. However, his skin is white like his father and he doesn’t feel like either white or black, resulting in bullying.

    Chapter 3: “Deer Hunting”

1903: age 8, Alastor’s father takes him deer hunting and teaches him how to skin a deer for venison and fur. The young boy is sacred at first, but soon finds the process fascinating.

Alastor watches violent programs on TV with his father, much to his mother’s disapproval.

Alastor gets beaten up by his drunken father, while his mother is too sacred to do anything.

    Chapter 4: “The Diagnosis” 1907: age 12

Alastor is diagnosed with anxiety, narcissism and psychopathic tendencies. He is bullied in middle school and is not interested in sex and girls like the other boys. He finds it gross and pointless.

Alastor’s father sleeps with other women behind his wife’s back, and Alastor witnesses the act, terrified. His father finds out and proceeds to molest him. After it’s too late, his mother runs in to comfort him after his father leaves.

It is at this point that Alastor wonders what it’d feel like to kill a human being.

Chapter 5: “Deal with the Other Side” 1910 age 15

Alastor finds a Satanic ritual book that a group of imps called K.I.L.L. accidentally left behind. He makes a deal with some evil Loas: gain unlimited power in the afterlife at the cost of a loved one’s life and his own.

He practices using a gun and knife, quickly mastering them. He also creates voodoo dolls in secret.

Alastor kills his first human with a knife after a white man insults him for being Creole and of mixed race (part white from his European father, part Creole from his brown-skinned mother).

For the first time, Alastor feels powerful as well as shocked. He was worried that he would get caught. When he didn’t…he wondered what it’d be like to do it again.

    Chapter 6: “Radio Host” 1911 age 16

Alastor starts his job as a radio host and DJ, earning more money to support his family. (Though his father still verbally insults him every day and his mother is often working.) He discovers dad jokes and electro swing, getting back into his love of theater and dance.

Chapter 7: “Stock Market Crash” 1929 age 34

Hell, March 13, 1919 1929 Stock Market Crash

    ~Deer Devil (Alastor)

Alastor becomes the most well-known Radio show-host in New Orleans. But no one else knows that he is the infamous “Devil of the Dark” serial killer. Now he enjoys seeing orphans and children in misery, reminding him that he was better off than many. He also eats both deer and human meat, along with jambalaya. He announces the murders on the air in detail, all with a cheerful tone.

He meets a lovely blond woman named Rachiel, befriends her and dances with her.

    Chapter 8: “A Great Depression” 1930 age 35

The event hits the family hard, and his mother is out of a job. Only cans of food and the occasional game are enough to sustain them. Alastor kills and eats people, mostly ones who were racist, rich, or looked upon him in disgust. He then saw others as nothing more than prey to be played with.

Alastor’s mother becomes a prostitute and Alastor’s father secretly sells drugs and sleeps with other women. Alastor gets beat up yet again for “being a pussy and not being a proper man.” One night, in a fit of rage, Alastor’s mother dies by her husband’s hands before he is arrested.

Chapter 9: “Death by Dogs” 1933 age 38.

Once Alastor’s father is released from prison, Alastor tracks him down and brutally kills him in an act of vengeance. Unfortunately, Racheil stopped by the house and witnessed the entire thing. Alastor slits her throat just as the police are called. Knowing that he had finally been discovered, Alastor fled.

The police chase Alastor though the dark woods, dogs hot on the trail. A local hunter and his hunting dog joins in on the chase, for he had found Racheil, his daughter, dead. Alastor navigates the woods, trying to find a place to hide. He is finally surrounded by the growling police dogs. The dogs begin to attack him. Off from a distance, the hunter’s dog howls at the distant sound. Thinking that a deer had been spotted, the hunter fires his rifle…shooting the cannibal criminal right between the eyes. A lone buck in the distance is the last thing Alastor sees before his body is mauled by the dogs.

    Chapter 11: “Hell Hotel”

Alastor transforms into his current red deer demon form. Due to the deal, Alastor gains his powers from the Loas and a vintage microphone staff. His deer-like shadow comes alive, revealing his true feelings and having its own agendas. He begins his conquests in Hell, killing demons at a circus, broadcasting his victories and creating his interdimensional lair.

    Chapter 12: “That’s Entertainment”

Then the scenes with Alastor meeting Charlie, singing the reprise, and defeating Sir Pentious appear.

    Chapter 13: “Episode 2”

Name: Alastor (meaning Greek spirit of vengeance/tormentor)

Human name:  Alastor Roscoe Duvalier (Roscoe means deer forest, Duvalier is last name of Voodoo genocidal dictator of Haiti) Fun fact: Alastor uses his initials A.R.D. to mean “A Radio Demon”

    Mother:

Loretta P. Duvalier (named after Loretta Petit, American radio personality born in New Orleans)

Speaks French and can also manipulate shadows/spirits. Became a short red deer demon in Hell, wearing 1910’s dress. Is able to visit Alastor in private on his birthday, (so as to not let other rivals know his family/weakness) She fixes him his childhood favorite Jambalaya and is the only time during the year in which Alastor cries and accepts physical touch.

Father: Adrian Duvalier (Adrian Greek for “wealthy/dark”) died and became an oppressive black deer overlord but was defeated by Alastor a second time.

Birth: January 24th 1896, New Orleans, Louisiana (VA Edward Bosco’s birthday is January 24, 1986)

    Date of death: 1933

Cause of death: Fatal shooting in the head by deer hunter seeking revenge for the murder of his family victims. Alastor’s dying body mauled by police dogs

Demonic life: deer demon, overlord, radio host. His deer-like shadow has a mind of its own and reveals his true feelings.

Likes: cooking, singing, dancing, electro swing, Rosie, Mimzy, Charlie (as a friend), his mother, people failing, dark coffee, the Picture Show, the Stock Market Crash of 1929, theater, liquor, dad jokes, Jambalaya, epicurean food, making voodoo dolls of the Hazbin characters

Dislikes: being touched, post 30’s technology, dogs, anything sweet, frowning, Angel’s sexual remarks, tea, spray can foods, ketchup,

Abilities: supernatural powers, voodoo, radio broadcasting, shadow manipulation, warping space, singing, charm

Human life: radio host, deer hunter, serial killer, singer and dancer.

Caramel short brown hair, white skin, small glasses/monocle, slender build, brown eyes, frequently wore dress suits, bow ties and top hats. Transatlantic accent, part white (from his father’s father) part Creole (from his mother and her family). Red was his favorite color, the color of blood, passion, roses, wine, strawberries, his girlfriend’s lips, etc.

Young Alastor was a musical theater nerd at school but frequently picked on by bullies. Lived with his abusive molesting father and his stressed but kind-hearted mother in New Orleans. Jambalaya was his favorite food and he frequently dreamed about being in the spotlight. Music, singing, and dancing were immersed in his culture and hometown, quickly becoming his favorite hobbies.

After killing deer as a way to relieve stress and enjoying the thrill of the moment, people often called him a psychopath behind his back. Due to his father being violent and molesting him, Alastor developed violent tendencies and a strong aversion to touch and anything sexual. He was later diagnosed with many disorders including anxiety and narcissistic personality disorder. His mother didn’t like her husband’s behavior toward her son, but was too afraid to confront him. She thought therapy would be best for Alastor and his dad, but the sessions didn’t go well. (the therapist was racist and later met a gruesome death by Alastor’s hands).

He later became a well-known radio host, even managing to impress and flirt with a blond woman who briefly became his girlfriend (with similar bubbly personality to Charlie: her name was Racheil Rosie.) (notice that the letters in the Rachel alternate spelling “Racheil” are also in “Charlie” and Rosie is a demon overlord woman.

His life began to spiral downhill when he discovered a Satanic ritual book accidentally left behind by a group of imps called K.I. L. L. (a group that preceded Blitzo and family). Entranced by the spells and listed methods of killing, he decided to practice with guns, knives etc. which pleased his father but scared his mother at first. He was finally becoming “a real man” according to his father. Determined to please him, Alastor practiced more and more.

As he was assaulted by his father, taunted by his classmates, mistrusted by authority and dealing with racist comments, his eagerness to murder others grew to the point of him going on murder sprees at night. It was the one way for him to feel powerful and dominant in a world where he was often seen as the weird creepy outcast.

This eventually led him to a deal with the Loas: gain unlimited power in the afterlife, at the price of killing someone he loved.

When his father beat him up one fateful night and almost raped him, Alastor had enough. He stabbed him repeatedly until he fell to the floor in a bloodied mess, a sinister grin on Alastor’s face. It was at this moment that Alastor’s shadow was conceived from his hate and would come to life in Hell.

His mother and girlfriend caught him in the act, stunned. Alastor could see in their eyes that all trust and love for him had vanished. A seemingly innocent man turned into a demonic monster. Even his shadow seemed to warp and twist into terrifying shapes from behind him. A terrified Racheil broke up with him without using words, breaking Alastor’s heart and fueling his rage. His mother called the police and Racheil tried to run to get help. Realizing he had to escape, he quickly killed both of them and dashed out into the woods just as the police spotted him.

Alone in the woods and stained with blood, Alastor strangely felt at home in the dark forest under a full blood moon. After killing another deer for food, he made a run for it when police dogs sniffed him out. A hunter named Robert had also followed Alastor and realized what he had done…for he was Rachel’s father and a good friend of Alastor’s father. Sensing a noise and the sound of thumps, Robert searched for his daughter’s killer. Thinking he saw a buck, he moved closer…and unintentionally shot Alastor in the head. The police dogs heard the noise and immediately mauled the dying radio host, while Robert looked on in shock and horror. He had gotten his revenge…but at the same time, felt disgusted and horrified, for now he had become the very man he killed. He told the police to arrest him, breaking down in tears, before he was led away to seek therapy and rehabilitation. Robert glanced back and saw Alastor’s glazed brown eyes, torn body, and strange frozen smile on his pale dead face, a sight that would haunt him for the rest of his days.

The killing of Alastor’s loved ones, as well as his own gruesome death was enough payment for the Loas to grant Alastor his powers…that led him to take over hell and the overlords…and soon enough, Lucifer as well. Even the Archangel Exterminators would steer clear of Alastor during the annual Purge.

Alastor was reborn as a red deer demon, dressed in red attire to hide the bloodstains. His enchanted microphone cane was a part of him, allowing him to broadcast his conquests. The microphone cane and his shadow were part of him, though seemed like separate entities. While his microphone represented the showy side he displayed to others, his shadow revealed his true feelings and the vulnerable sides he hid from others. While his microphone was more submissive, Alastor’s shadow had a separate agenda (like Dr. Facilier’s shadow)

Vox, the TV demon was one of his biggest rivals, and he had a bad feeling that Vox, Valentino etc. would try to brainwash the population to their desires. To assert his authority, he smiled constantly as to not let any signs of weakness show to other demons. (But when he was alone, he couldn’t help it when tears randomly fell from his cheeks. He missed his mother and knew he would never see Racheil or live again. Once he met Charlie, his instantly cheered up. Not only was she an optimistic, if not silly, friend, she also happened to be the daughter of the king of hell. (He finds her beautiful and fun but doesn’t want to marry nor have sexual relations with her. Even with Charlie, he’s still aversive to touch not initiated by him).

To sing and dance with Charlie and her friends would be great entertainment for him…but she would also prove of great use in the future…) Charlie, Angel, Husk, Niffty and even Vaggie would become affectionate friends…and perhaps the only friends he had down in Hell. Indeed, besides taking over Hell, there was another reason why he wanted Charlie’s plan to fail. For if she succeeded, she and the others would likely go to Heaven…and he’d be all alone with no one else to befriend/kill…sealing his fate as an unwanted outcast.

But with his Eldritch powers and charm, he’d make sure that wouldn’t happen…
