Why I Love Lucifer Morningstar #1
If anyone can recall in S1E6 “Favorite Son,” Lucifer lost a very important container that stored his wings—until he found them gone by the end of the episode, obviously.
Now, I binge-watched the hell out of Lucifer. I got enough info on the characters to enjoy it while I sped through hours of content, but after rewatching some of the episodes, I found a really cool, minor detail in “Favorite Son.”
One thing we know about Lucifer is that he never lies. Granted, he doesn’t tell the whole truth by omitting certain things, but he never says anything that wouldn’t be considered true to himself or others.
What’s cool about this is that he’s well aware of this fact. He prides himself in telling the truth, even if it ruins someone’s whole week from his lack of filter.
However, that leaves him vulnerable to saying things he rather not speak about. He wouldn’t be able to hide his secrets if someone came right out and asked him something like, “What’s in the container?” He could dodge it all he wants, but eventually, that wouldn’t be good enough to keep someone from trying to pry.
And so, he found a loophole. Knowing that his container would gain the attention of those curious about it, and knowing he couldn’t lie to anyone who asked, he put something else in the container.
He put a whole chest of Russian Dolls in that container with his angel wings. This was completely intentional.
We can assume that he had his wings in that container since he made Maze cut them off on that beach five years prior to that day, so his secret was pretty much hidden for awhile, until Amenadiel orchestrated a plan to have Lucifer’s wings stolen.
So, not only did Lucifer make sure that container was well-hidden, but he went the extra mile to put another item in there in case someone ended up finding and/or asking about said container that protected his wings.
It may not be a big deal, but I find that to be incredibly impressive. It made me love him even more than I already do.
