An Oriental Odyssey [Ep.28]
Lan Zhi continues to beg Ming Hui to not torture Yuan'An resolving to offer to do whatever she needs him to do as long as she doesn't torture Yuan'An. Ming Hui reluctantly agrees to this deal but warns him to keep his word. Lan Zhi releases Yuan'An and tells her he will meet with the Emperor and Empress and asks her if it's worth risking her life for someone. She states "If I don't fight for what I think is right, then who will fight for me?". Ming Hui is listening and states she longs for someone to treat her this way and that she would cherish it more. [Note on this is my review lol].
Lan Zhi kneels outside to speak to the empress, but she refuses to meet with him. He then confronts the State Preceptor when he is coming to treat the Emperor. Lan Zhi implicates him and Ming Hui with the past cases and states he won't investigate them further if he lets Yuan'An go. The State Preceptor attacks him with magic (i guess); while the Empresses as heard and seen everything and tells him to stop and go treat the Emperor. She then tells Lan Zhi that until the case is solved Yuan'An cannot be released.
Meanwhile, Mu Le is out in the market and comes across a vender selling flowers from Suoluo. The name sounds familiar to him but he doesn't know why. He also sees the announcement poster about Tian Shu wanted for arrest and Yuan'An being detained. He remembers in the past that Yuan'An said she would send Tian Shu off to a temple so he goes to that one to find Tian Shu. Mu Le outs him and demands he goes back now to release Yuan'An. Tian Shu tries to explain that he was framed and that Yuan'An has done everything to protect him and that she is willing. Mu Le says her life is the most important thing and drags Tian Shu away.
Lan Zhi continues to kneel and the Empress talks to the Emperor to let Yuan'An go he agrees assuming that if she knew the whereabouts of Tian Shu she would have told already having spent 3 days in the torturous jail. The State Preceptor refuses this and says he will interrogate her himself.
His minions come to the prison to take Yuan'An to the palace. Ming Hui tries to stop them but is stopped and is told to also be sure to kill Lan Zhi. Yuan'An meets with the State Preceptor. He tries to persuade her with being his disciple, then threatens her with her family. Of course Mu Le and Tian Shu arrive just in time.
Meanwhile, the Empress has the incense for the Emperor examined and finds out that it is actually harming him. This was given to him by the State Preceptor.
The end of the episode shows Ming Hui preparing to shoot down a kneeling Lan Zhi.
Ming Hui had a man that cherished her but then she didn't want to be with him cuz he was a servant...like girl i don't get you. Now you begging for a man to treat you that way. WHATEVER!
So are we about to find out the real story behind what happened 19 years ago?? I hope so. Also, I'm really hoping the Empress somehow figures out the truth and spares Tian Shu's life somehow...he doesn't deserve to die.
I understand Mu Le cares about Yuan'An and doesn't want her to die but also bringing Tian Shu is putting all her efforts in vain. And yeah Lan Zhi cares about her too but idk I still think his affections are much more deep than hers are.
The State Preceptor is just evil, i don't like him. I mean I know we're not supposed to like him anyway but like damn he just really sucks. Like here's your shitty ass evil person award. Ming Hui gets one too. I wonder if they're gonna like give her character redemption or not? I hope not...unless she actually develops real feelings for Lan Zhi and does something in regards to that and finally decides to be a good person but I doubt it.
