I can't tell if I want to be azula, be friends with azula, or have an intensely complicated romantic relationship with azula
Me: I should write a fic about this paring
My bastard brain: But it's so niche!
Me: But i like it
My brain: Nobody will read it! Who's your target audience?!
Me: ...but i like it
last night i dreamed i had a boyfriend and he wound up among the final candidates for a mystical competition to become the magic king or whatever. but the thing was he wasn’t in town, so i had to carry my laptop around the competition while he zoomed in, and because of time zones it was like 3am for him and he was really out of it. anyways i ended up winning and he was like mm. that’s good. proud of you. and went back to sleep
My top 9 favorite fictional female characters. No particular order.
no one asked for this so here you go:
DO IT @hajime-isayama-official
there’s just smth about sun and moon dynamics
asides for Haru (mother, nonbender; father, bender) and Katara (mother, nb; father, nb) are there any other characters in avatar with both parents bending status confirmed?
(Korra doesn’t count, since the avatar spirit would override her status as B/NB)
She’s deadly 🔥
One of these days I’ll get back to working on Fanning the Flames and then the Tam/Piandao murder mystery. And all the little Azuki and Sokkla one-shots I have puttering in my head.
If I ever finish this fucking Overwatch Mercy series that’s been going on since fucking OCTOBER...

Someone brought up something interesting in the comments of my fic. They mentioned that Zuko, Jet and Jin's friendship is a direct antithesis to Azula, Mai and Ty Lee's.
WHICH is not something I thought of, and so here are my thoughts:
Zuko vs Azula: Nothing comes naturally to Zuko like it does for Azula, he is unlucky, she is not; he wears his heart on his sleeve while Azula uses emotions to manipulate people. And while his exterior is prickly, he endears people and earns their friendship while Azula frightens people into surrounding her. They were both raised with similar backgrounds and have incredible singlemindedness, but beyond that, their personalities are very different.
Jet vs Mai: She was raised to be the perfect daughter and dislikes her brother who doesn't have the same stress/pressure she does. Jet on the other hand, wasn't raised at all. He is essentially a feral child who LOVES other kids and raised them in the woods. She bottles up her emotions so no one can use it against her and Jet is always ready for a fight, passionate. While she maintains a bored exterior, he cares so much about the people closest to him.
Jin vs Ty Lee: Ty Lee was raised among many siblings and ended up running away to the circus to find and make her own identity, but Jin is sure of who she is. An only child, she loves her home in Ba Sing Se and works in the clinic to save it, her community. Ty Lee always seems to be a positive person, but Jin is a realist. She is kind, but not blindly optimistic.
This is by no means a post to bash on Azula&Mai&Ty Lee. Their friendship has many interesting levels and could be great (once Azula gets therapy). But I find it interesting how I accidently made them foils to the lantern kids. 🤔
You've probably seen this masterpiece before but if you haven't, here: https://va.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_qexc503vE31rdilao.mp4 It's so fucking accurate XD
I have seen before, but I'm so grateful that you made me see it again because it is a fucking master-piece, especially the bit when she's about to cut her hair XD (And I love how we all recognize that Azula is essentially Regina George if Regina didn't know how social interactions work)
Also, as someone who was once a dramatic girl who relied too much on my friends AND was a represed bisexual totally in love with one of my friends, this whole thing is so accurate, I feel exposed, attacked, and am very scared because HOW DOES SHE KNOW?
for azula’s redemption arc that never happened.

These are the last photos from this scene! Wow there were so many clouds.
one thing about Azula I think is essential to her character, and would make for excellent fic fuel by exploring this concept or deconstructing the heck out of it, is certainty.
Azula takes many things for granted, and she assumes its just the way the world works. It can be assumed that this is an aspect of her sense of entitlement (being a crown princess and Ozai’s most prominent asset to do his bidding); things work out for her, as she wants, and she doesn’t think of it in terms of a host of other factors coming together for her benefit, but because that’s just how the world works.
This can be seen when she attributes her success and leadership solely to divine blessing. This is usually seen as a sign of Azula being a Boss Lady, but it’s worth pointing out that she is fighting against Aang’s intent to save the world from Fire Nation dominion, as she has essentially taken over the Earth Kingdom at this point. She is fighting divine will, in the form of Aang, and thus the will of the world spirit itself, but does not realize this.
She believes that royalty only has the right to rule, and anyone else must bow before her because she is royal. She doesn’t see it as pure blind coincidence she happened to be born into a royal family, she believes she has divine power to do as she pleases and all must do as she commands, because she is royal.
She is absolutely certain she gets what she wants, or what she believes is her duty to her nation. She is talented, and skilled, and a perfectionist, but the key idea here is that she misattributes her success to, essentially, she wants it so she gets it.
So analyzing this, or doing fic where this idea is torn apart, would make for an interesting story concept.
Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender is autistic!
