I would love a rocketman type scene where Jug, maybe after Archie returns from the mines, is just. Overjoyed. Ecstatic, relived, he's jumping in well-worked arms and Archie spins him around and Jug's little hands frame his scruffy face and he- he kisses him.

It lasts a few seconds. Closed lipped and no feeling from the other hand and Jug pulls away feeling a few decades older.

Archie's face is carefully numb, emotion tucked away, not unkind, but not. Not what Jug hoped for. Theres just a bit of sadness melting his amber eyes and jug feels his chest constrict.

Even more so when Archie ruffles his hair and touches his face, " ...I love you. I love you. But... But not like that."

and Jug nods, smile shaking at the edges. " I know. I know. I just wanted... to dream about it, for a second. "

" ... Jug, I- "

Excerpt:

It wasn’t their fault. It wasn't his. Maybe it isn’t hers either.

  That didn’t make it easier.

  Garrus gestures for Akira to strike and she does, springing forward with a sharp jab that he dodges, eyes never leaving hers, arms raised to defend himself. 

   She falls back and he pushes forward, using his larger build and natural agility to try and undermine her defenses. But Akira uses her own size to her advantage in response, her speed making her difficult to catch.

  She didn’t know how long they continued their dance, only that she was beginning to move slower. Her lack of sleep and the fact she had been doing training for longer than him was catching up to her; it was getting harder to slip out of his reach.

  It turns out it wasn’t a battle of speed, but of endurance.

  Finally Garrus catches her, but she pivots, using his weight against him to throw the Turian over her shoulder. He twists mid-air to roll into the throw, landing safely on his back with an “oof.”

  Akira hesitates for a moment, hovering where she stood above him, still holding onto his arm. He blinks and looks up at her and she steps back, his arm falling from her grasp.

  The sparring had elicited some excitement, threading through her as though tempted to give into the familiarity, accept the thrill. But she hadn’t meant to throw him.

  She hadn’t wanted to let go of him.
