The fact that the six idiots never made a joke about the cir-cum-stances of Julian’s death is actually a missed opportunity.

I sent a text to my Egyptian vibe. It’s been some months since I’ve seen her, we weren’t on the best terms. She responded with “come get it”… now when I think of her my dick gets hard in my pants…

Merlin and pro-magic rebels +Uther, murder, morality and 1x11

I wish we would have gotten more of Merlin being tempted to kill Uther, and wanting to push the liberation of magic along. I know it was brought up once in awhile, and I know he couldn’t start pestering Arthur legalizing magic the moment he became regent, or after he became king given Morgana’s betrayal and the circustances of Uther’s death, plus it might get Merlin in trouble to start pushing for something that is considered dangerous and evil (though Merlin might be able to hide behind Will’s memory, if the writers hadn’t forgotten about him). Still, I wish we could have seen Merlin helping other magic users who are fighting for his freedom instead of working against them and that we would have gotten more “positive” portrayals of pro-magic rebels.

Also I didn’t like the whole reason why merlin didn’t let Uther die in 1x12. It ignored that merlin had killed before (arguably to protect himself and others from an immediate threat), killed people to protect Uther in the episode and that more people would most likely die if Uther didn’t. I would have prefered it if Merlin saved him because of his loyality to Arthur, or because he feared what it might do to Morgana to kill her Guardian and the king. Would she be able to cover up her involvement? Would she be able to live with the guilt of having taken Arthur’s father from him? A scene where Arthur and Merlin talk about Gwen losing her father, what they would do if they lost their remaining parent and/or Morgana and Uther’s relationship. That would have been a better motivator. Which is a shame, because I otherwise loved that episode.

Gaius’ argument that Arthur wasn’t ready to be king might have made sense, but after listening to Destiny and Chicken (a merlin podcast) I realized that Arthur had several time shown to be pretty descent at dealing with state matters. Though if he is good enough to run an entire kingdom is debatable. He would probably still be better than Uther, though if his inexperience led to an disaster, then it might not matter if he is kinder and more egalitarian than Uther, or more reasonable when it comes to magic.

I get that the writers wanted to keep Uther alive for story reason, but they could have found reasons.
