“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.”
Philippians 2:12-18 NKJV

And to those friends who are struggling
Let Your power be their strength

Leviticus 15
A few years ago when I was counseling, I had a client tell me that they thought the Bible was boring. They explained that the Bible was just a bunch of old history with nothing unique, interesting, or different than any other 'self help' book. Baffled and a bit frustrated, I opened my Bible to Leviticus 15. Without saying a word I handed it to the person and waited for their response.
*Warning* The below content was written to be as PG as possible, however, I would recommend parents filter the content appropriately.
Chapter 15 deals primarily with uncleanness in the sexual organs (you probably already figured that part out), however what might be misunderstood here is the context of this chapter. God is setting standards and rules for ceremonial cleanliness for bodily discharges. This chapter is divided into two main sections. Verses 2-18 deals with men and verses 19-30 deal with women. However, you may notice that verses 2-15 reference something different than verses 16-18. Verses 2-15 specifically have guidelines surrounding diseases associated with intercourse, whereas 16-24 deal with natural bodily discharge from intercourse. Historically, we know that STD's were not unheard of at this time. Some of the scientific explanations for this will be explained in later chapters.
Like other areas of disease, those associated with intercourse are treated much more seriously than natural uncleanliness. The cleansing requirements are more stringent, the wait time is longer (7 days), and the sacrifice is less costly compared to the washing and waiting until the next evening for a natural bodily discharge. It should be noted that ceremonial uncleanliness did not automatically assume a person had sinned.
Finally, verse 31 answers the simple question, "Why is this in the Bible?" Because it will guard the people and keep them safe from more serious harm later on. Remember, the Israelite people are to be holy and set apart, not living like the Egyptians from their past or the Canaanites from their future.
In case you're wondering, the client read this chapter, handed my Bible back to me and said, "Why do you always have to prove me wrong?"
I would love to hear your guys opinions on fasting! What fast would you recommend to someone who has never done it before? Would you recommend the Daniel fast? Why or why not?
“Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” -Daniel 1:12-13 NKJV
“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ” Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ” Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.” -Luke 4:1-15 NKJV
“O LORD, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.”
Isaiah 25:1 NKJV
In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. #verseoftheday #bible #scriptureoftheday #jesus #jesuslovesyou #jesuschrist #jesusisalive #jesusitrustinyou #jesuschristlovesyou #jesuschristoursavior #jesuschristismysavior #christian #christians #christianlouboutins #scripture #verse #christianity #christ #bibleverse #biblescripture (オープン・ドア・チャペル) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNuQ5lfJYBo/?igshid=4fp0l4mpayqf
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.
—Proverbs 15:1,2,4,7,18
-Know when to speak and when to be silent.
I love this! It’s so respectful, no judgement and just pure love from both sides!
Leviticus 14:1-32
Chapter 14 continues our look into the understanding, treatment, and cleansing of skin diseases. An important note here is that the priests don't provide any medical care to the ill. Their duty was to help determine if a person was ceremonially clean or unclean. This differs strongly from other ancient societies where an ill person would seek help from a medicine man, exorcist, or type of magician.
The actual ritual involving blood, water, wood, cord, and hyssop is an integral part of the purification process. Each had its own purpose and requirements, though we do not know the details of each. The initial cleansing happens outside of the camp using a bird, while the second cleansing was done seven days later inside the camp using a lamb. Notice the use of the number 7. Biblically, the number 7 represents completeness.
Finally, something beautiful about this chapter is that it shows the ceremony involved in welcoming someone back into the community of God. The person was once cast out and is now ceremonially brought back to the encampment, the people, and the Tabernacle. This would have been a time of great joy and celebration for the person declared clean again. Specifically, this reminds me of the Prodigal Son story. The Prodigal son was disheveled, dirty, run down, and cast out by his 'friends.' When he returned home, he was cleaned up, given a new robe and welcome with great celebration back into his fathers house.
Being reunited with God and His people is cause for great joy. Why we were separated to begin with doesn't matter, the important point is that we be reunited.
Jesus gave His life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. #verseoftheday #bible #scriptureoftheday #jesus #jesuslovesyou #jesuschrist #jesusisalive #jesusitrustinyou #jesuschristlovesyou #jesuschristoursavior #jesuschristismysavior #christian #christians #christianlouboutins #scripture #verse #christianity #christ #bibleverse #biblescripture (オープン・ドア・チャペル) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNq9kplJie3/?igshid=6tmhwk1iu08j
“Religion is for people who don’t want to go to hell.
Relationship is for people who have been through hell.”
