Exploration of Organic Compound Degradation Capability of Indigenous Soil Bacteria and their Consortium from Oil Refinery of Assam by Eram Ayaz in Significances of Bioengineering & Biosciences: Crimson Publishers- Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering
Present study was focused on the biodegradation capability of indigenous bacterial culture and their consortium. On the basis of GC-FID, Consortium Qs15 was found to be potent consortium for the degradation of petrol, toluene, xylene, diesel, benzene and hexane. Gene which is responsible for the degradation is present on the plasmid. The amplification and sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed, Consortium Qs15 comprised of two Bacillus strains namely, Bacillus sp E14 and Bacillus sp E87. Experimental data reveals that Qs15 proven to be better option to eradicate wide range of hydrocarbon via bioremediation technique.

Hi guys! Today I want to tell you about the SINGA scholarships. I got an answer by one of the people I contacted for a PhD in there, and they adviced me to ask for this funding, so what is it?
A short explanation:
The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Singapore Management University (SMU). PhD training will be carried out in English at your chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU. Students will be supervised by distinguished and world-renowned researchers in these labs. Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU.
I think that the most interesting thing it is the kind of PhD one can purchase, perfect if doing Bioengineering or related sciences, and also the fact that there are a lot of singaporian Universities.

I finally have some free time to take some pictures and post them! I can't believe how busy I've been this semester... I took these right after my Biomaterials exam and that's why the calculator is out, I think it makes a nice touch though.
What is it about the mechanisms of flow cytometry that is so attractive? Like I can read about it for hours mmm yes give me light scattering, give me that short pass and band pass. 900 words on hydrodynamic focusing? Yes I want to read it! And in the end the results are so boring :/ just gives you boring graphs
Grad school’s helped me come up with a myriad of excuses for drinking. I cannot wait to defend in a month.
