    5.17.21

Prepping for the next sequencing run! I have two students shadowing me while I teach them how to pool samples for next gen sequencing, it's a great way for me to see where my lab notes aren't clear enough. Also, I love when fruit prices drop it means summer is near, even if it doesn't feel like it 🌫️🌧️

Exploration of Organic Compound Degradation Capability of Indigenous Soil Bacteria and their Consortium from Oil Refinery of Assam-Crimson Publishers

Exploration of Organic Compound Degradation Capability of Indigenous Soil Bacteria and their Consortium from Oil Refinery of Assam by Eram Ayaz in Significances of Bioengineering & Biosciences: Crimson Publishers- Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering

Present study was focused on the biodegradation capability of indigenous bacterial culture and their consortium. On the basis of GC-FID, Consortium Qs15 was found to be potent consortium for the degradation of petrol, toluene, xylene, diesel, benzene and hexane. Gene which is responsible for the degradation is present on the plasmid. The amplification and sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed, Consortium Qs15 comprised of two Bacillus strains namely, Bacillus sp E14 and Bacillus sp E87. Experimental data reveals that Qs15 proven to be better option to eradicate wide range of hydrocarbon via bioremediation technique.

    Cell biology definitions (1)

Next article for the website in progress!

Felt like sharing some definitions on cell biology.

MEIOSIS: A type of cell division in which a nucleus divides into four daughter nuclei, each containing half the chromosome number of the parent nucleus.

I got asked to submit an updated version of my resume by the man in charge of my tiny internship about continuing it further into the summer - highlighting particular skills of mine. If accepted, I’d be working with CS people on making a bioinformatics deliverable for the company and tbh I’m .... at a loss for words. I hope I get this so bad omg

Enjoy this picture of a secret pond I found while walking through the forest.

#I was gonna email him next week mentioning I’m interested in continuing relationship w company and then HE contacted ME #so crazy #if I get this I’m gonna cry #I have wanted a bioinfo internship for so long now #study#studyblr#laegless#engineering#bioengineering#biology#compsci #I only take pictures of nature never homework/stem related things lmao #worst studyblr ever

Smart magnetic soft materials to develop artificial muscles and therapeutic robots

Smart magnetic soft materials to develop artificial muscles and therapeutic robots

“The overarching idea of this research project is to influence different biological processes at the cellular level (that is, wound healing, brain synapses or nervous system responses) by developing timely engineering applications”, explains 4D-BIOMAP’s lead researcher, Daniel García González from the UC3M’s Department of Continuum Mechanics and Structural Analysis. The so-called magneto-active…

finally kind of have an idea for a design of my vandal and less so for ilarok omg omg omg pain *blows up*

#i drew ilarok like exactly two times a couple months ago and i just. sure #also im iffy on his name but once i give a character a name theres no turning back. thos is it. ilarok i feel like ur name #is copyrighted somehow or like illegal to say like whenever i say or type ilarok i feel like a criminal IDK #i feel like its an established eliksni word but i dont . think it is. i hope omg one day im just gonna obliviously name an eliksni 'verlask' #i sitll have to learn the eliksni language ummm maybe ill indulge after i do my trial exams so i feel less guilty for studying a fictional #language rather than spending time on studying my actual subjects #ANYWAY SIDE TRACKED.... my vandal doesnt have a name yet but i needed to fill a geek/nerd spot on my character chart so. here he is #i mean the closest i have to one is malkisk but hes like knowledgeable n wise rather than like hey wanna watch me solve this rubiks cube ? #n then it would be. kivri. believe it or not. i mean its not UNBELIEVEABLE considering he IS a splicer but i just. its HIM............... #kivri. ur average eliksni. a little loud but hes got spirit. then boom 87 posts in a row about advanced robotics and bioengineering #ok tag rant over before kivri skins me alive for even comparing him to a nerd im sorry king ur smart n sexy as fuck aha

    SINGA scholarships

    09/05/2021

Hi guys! Today I want to tell you about the SINGA scholarships. I got an answer by one of the people I contacted for a PhD in there, and they adviced me to ask for this funding, so what is it?

    A short explanation:

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Singapore Management University (SMU). PhD training will be carried out in English at your chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU. Students will be supervised by distinguished and world-renowned researchers in these labs. Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU.

I think that the most interesting thing it is the kind of PhD one can purchase, perfect if doing Bioengineering or related sciences, and also the fact that there are a lot of singaporian Universities.

Their website is on here. Check it out!

I finally have some free time to take some pictures and post them! I can't believe how busy I've been this semester... I took these right after my Biomaterials exam and that's why the calculator is out, I think it makes a nice touch though.

What is it about the mechanisms of flow cytometry that is so attractive? Like I can read about it for hours mmm yes give me light scattering, give me that short pass and band pass. 900 words on hydrodynamic focusing? Yes I want to read it! And in the end the results are so boring :/ just gives you boring graphs

#is this relatable to anyone at all? #probably not#bioengineering#stemblr
