I’m low key tired of parents threatening their kids when they ask, “Hey can you do this?” Which is a yes or no question with a yes or no reply and you give them an answer and it’s something the Parent wasn’t ready for just because they had HIGH EXPECTATIONS “because” you the son or daughter….they hit you with a “okay, don’t ask me to do anything for you, do ask to get something to eat at my house, don’t ask me shit.” But you say no to me all the time tho 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♂️ .
Idk. I probably won’t get that line of understanding But y’all need to stop that. That’s some toxic shit and its aggravating. And by the way, I’m talking about ground ass kids that are adults, with a place of their own🙎🏾♀️🙍🏾♂️

Good morning kings and queens 👑! In the #music industry death is happening more rapidly due to hating. In the #blackcommunity its always been a #hood commandment to not let anyone catch you slipping because they might take your spot. It’s time for us to change the narrative. It can no longer be standard practice for someone to be able to just walk up and take what you worked hard for. We need to stop killing each other out of envy! The time is now for us to work together. If we do…WE ALL EAT!

Taraji allows us to remember that a fulfilling life is a life of self-awareness and self-care. We have to take time out for our mental health. Please WATCH!
“Black Men, Your Health Matters”, one of my previous blog posts was steered towards the physical health of Black men. This was mostly because I wanted to highlight the importance of Black men getting the proper healthcare that they deserve. But now I want to discuss the mental health issues that they often endure, all while constantly getting it kicked under the rug.
society has this notion where the Black man is hyper-sexualized and deemed as intensely masculine, with no need of showing emotion whatsoever. this has caused them to resort to various forms of addiction, from alcohol to opioids. similarly to Black women, Black men develop severe anxiety and depression over their lifetime because of the never ending cycle of hiding their emotions to keep up with a continuous display of being “Okay”. going to therapy is seen as a weakness within the black community because we somehow are supposed to be “fine” ALL the time. ridiculous concept right? I know many Black men who wholeheartedly believe that they shouldn’t cry because its “feminine behavior”, this mentality honestly accumulated across generations, from family members and even friends.
the main issue is the negative stigma towards Mental Health and its high prevalence within the Black community, specifically the Black male community. we need to have more programs and better family structures surrounding these men so that they won’t feel the need to close themselves off or become accustomed to lacking emotional intelligence.
we need to understand that it is okay to not be okay, we are all human beings and we are allowed to make mistakes. healing is a long term process that will pick at the most vulnerable parts of our character. but it will all be okay, our future generations need to have the understanding that mental health is important and can shape us in so many ways that we dont even realize. Black men need to be allowed to express themselves without feeling criticized or feeling like their emotions are invalid, they are very valid and we hear you. you matter..
We are discussing “Toxicity In Black Families”. We know this is a sensitive subject but we felt we really needed to be a voice and touch base on this subject.
If you’ve experienced these kind of events in your life, Just know you aren’t alone and the purpose of this video is to bring awareness to the way situations in our lives have been mishandled, so #LetsTalk

#HipHopPSA “Hip-Hop is a weapon..go research on how we’re using it. 🎬📹🎥 from @dothemathtv @janitaharris2018 We all know the power of hip hop to be a vehicle for transformation, healing, and to transcend our conditions. We must also understand the impact on our mental health especially when our children consume hip hop for lifestyle and not for entertainment. Therefore we have a responsibility to speak up about these changes we are noticing in our hip hop culture for the sake of now and the next generation who is being influenced because it is COMMUNICATING a very particular lifestyle for success that in reality will most likely not produce the results they think. The mainstream hip hop that is promoted is hyper sexualization and violence of us killing each other . Hip hop used to be more balanced, it inspired people to be more in their lives and it also shared the darker realities of people experiences but there was balance in the images and lyrics overall. But now we mostly only get one and it’s the ladder! What’s going on? What’s does that communicate to the next generation? While others may be afraid to have the tough conversations, I will be leaning in ! Our silence on these changes make us culpable. Do not be afraid to speak truth when others want you to play small and safe.
And for those who pretend my voice would ruin their brand-you really give me too much credit lol really.
@wesleymuhammad and I will continue having the tough conversations and leaning in. Too much is at stake to be afraid and allow others to censor us.

One of my favorite moments throughout my black boy fly journey was photographing my nephew, Levi Trayvon Simmons back home in Tuskegee, Alabama. I mean isn’t he perfect?
I love the idea of him wearing the @pyermoss tee. An iconic black owned brand delivering an important message to stop harassing US.
Even his expression and pose in this photo are v telling. He looks like an angelic/heroic being flying in to save the day yet again!
It was beyond special to have him apart of BBF. Once he grows older he will gain a greater understanding of race relations in America and appreciate what projects like this represent.
STOP CALLING 911 ON THE CULTURE.
I’ve always been fascinated by the art of ballet. I love the movement, so whimsical yet so precise, so vulnerable yet so strong.
It’s a beautiful thing.
I definitely wanted to highlight my gifted brothers who are dominating this art form in my book. And of course, making the editorial black af by putting the dancers in du rags. Because who doesn’t love a du rag moment?
The trust in this image also speaks to me. A true reflection of brotherhood.
This is for all black boys with ballet dreams, you can do it and it’s cool af.
I also learned a lot on set for this shoot like how dancers warm up and stretch their foot muscles with tennis balls. Iconic.
