> A quiet evening alone.
> A light classical playlist to keep me company.
> A chunky book.
> A soft sweater.
> An English paper draft that sucks but could be submitted, if I became desperate enough.
> A cup of warm hot chocolate that is calling my name.
> An overwhelming sense of my own insignificance.
“Your soul is a beautiful thing, child,” replied the man’s voice, “and I thank you. No emperor ever received so fair a gift. The angels wept tonight.” – Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera
I think this quote is so beautiful 😫
An ethical, independent alternative to Goodreads.
- They make book discovery better for readers and fairer for authors by challenging the ever-growing influence Amazon has over our reading choices.
- Their mission is to help readers discover great books and support the creators, publishers, and booksellers who nourish the writer-to-reader chain.
Ending the generic 5-star rating system
It’s 2021, and the world is still using a 5-star rating system to grade highly subjective work. Too many excellent books go undiscovered because they weren’t written for the majority and received below the dreaded 3.5 star average.
They treat readers as individuals, tailoring the platform to your unique tastes. Instead of giving books a single rating, we show the percentage of people similar to you who recommended the book.

"It is true, we shall be monsters, cut off from all the world; but on that account we shall be more attached to one another."
-Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
A book full of pirates and adventure is what filled my day after I worked an hour of overtime this morning. (Seriously. Why did I do that to myself? There wasn't enough coffee to get me through today. 😅)
Anyway, this book was everything I had hoped it would be. I mean, who doesn't love a book full of pirates trying to take on a treasure hunt and prevent mutiny from taking place on board their ship?
I don't have much of a review for this book, to be honest. I promise I paid attention to it, but somehow I've already forgotten most of what happened. Maybe this means next Saturday, when I work another hour of overtime first thing in the morning, I'll just listen to music all day or work through some more Marvel movies instead of listening to a book. 😅🤷🏼♀️
ATY: A book that takes place on an island
Less studying and more reading. I am often stressed.
**screaming because 4 weeks is too long a time to wait for the binge-reading classic lit vibes that are coming my way after commencement**
Just want to be loved. But I have trust issues. Because of all the pain I’ve got through. The relationships. But is there literally no one who would love to read books, visit museums, have movie nights and to travel to historical places? Because sometimes I just wait for that one ask from someone who would love to have this with me. Just reading books, just watching movies, to talk about history all the time. To give each other kindness, to care, to compliment and such.
I just wait for that one ask from someone, one day.
I wrote 2 books on living with, and overcoming, schizophrenia. I have lived with schizophrenia for 25+ years. I currently work as a post-masters mental health talk-therapist (a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-LCSW). My first book is titled “On Conquering Schizophrenia; From the Desk of a Therapist and Survivor”. My second book is titled “The Essential Schizophrenia Companion; With Foreword by Elyn R Saks, PhD, JD”. I write from the perspectives of both a provider and also someone with schizophrenia. Both are on Amazon. If you go to Amazon you can see all the editorial reviews. My books are intended to provide education and hope, and to let others know a regular life is obtainable. Dr Saks, who wrote the foreword to my second book, is the leading global icon and legend in the schizophrenia canon. Check out her INCREDIBLE TedTalk! It has over 4 million views! I remain ever astounded and grateful for her support! #readmore #classicbooks #summerreads #ipad #nook #goodreads

After all, man may be fond of not only well-being. Perhaps he is just as fond of suffering? Perhaps suffering is just as much in his interest as well-being?
- Fydor Dostoevsky, Notes from Underground
