taking a moment to remember (with EXTREME fondness) the summer of 2016, when I lived my truly-tiny dreams in Awkward Annie, a 64 square foot playhouse made from scraps of my grandmother’s old house. 😌
when it was given to me in 2001 or so it was about half this size, but my grandfather expanded it when the wind kept blowing it over. Logan and my dad helped me shingle the roof and add a big shelf for my various vinegars and things. there were crocks of sauerkraut everywhere, kombucha brewing on the counter, little plants in the windows…
it has suffered some pretty major abandonment since then, but Logan has been working to get it cleaned out, properly-floored, and ready to be moved to our property where it will be the ultimate potting shed. I’ll be glad to see it used again. I really enjoyed this little space.

hi friends! I just finished reading The Abdication by Justin Newland, and I have some thoughts.
in The Abdication by Justin Newland, a young woman confronts her faith in a higher purpose, and what it means to abdicate that faith. this blog tour is organized by Lola's Blog Tours and the tour runs from 11 till 31 October. check out the schedule here: https://www.lolasblogtours.net/blog-tour-the-abdication-by-justin-newland
I haven’t been into fantasy or new history since I was in middle school, and being able to read and enjoy it again was just so nice. I love Justin Newland’s work with this book because it truly felt like I escaped reality for a moment, and that’s always something I look for in a good book. something about this writing felt akin to home for me, because I haven’t seen this style in a long time. the language was super detailed in the way that children’s books are, but it didn’t make me feel like a child, it just made me appreciate the world that Newland was building. overall, I would give it a 4.5/5, mainly because I just am not a huge fan of new history. however, this book might’ve made me change my mind.
