Beetnik Amuse Bouche

When this Beetnik appeared on 70s Dinner Party’s feed I knew I had to give it a go. So fun and so accessible, although god knows how to tint a cream cheese beret with vegetable colour.

As you can see, I did not graft a carrot beard on with a toothpick - I simply placed it on the beetroot’s chinny chin chin. I was true to the recipe except for tinting the beret. The beetniks themselves are tasty veggie morsels that you have to swiftly bung in your gob in one go.

April 17, 202 - i found a winner. I’ve struggled over the last few years to grow cucumbers, that backyard garden staple, and get more that one little green cuke before the bugs and mildew took over the plant. But this old variety loves my garden. I’m going to plant another round and see how far into full summer I can push it, but I’m still very happy to know I can at least get cucumbers in the spring and fall now
