THE BODHI TREE & THE FOREST OF TERROR

The Forest of Terror took inspiration from the Bodhi Tree, which is also called the Tree of Enlightenment.

The Bodhi Tree is the tree that Buddha found enlightenment under. The tree also is one of the many symbols of enlightenment.

This connection between the Bodhi Tree & the Forest of Terror is illustrated by the way the tree branches in the Forest of Terror stretch out like Bodhi Tree branches

There is also the fact that Krillin awakened to enlightenment in this forest, further connecting it to the Bodhi Tree.

The Forest of Terror soon became a Forest of Enlightenment for Krillin; a Bodhi Forest.

THE IMMORTAL PHOENIX & IT'S CONNECTION TO THE PARADISE HERB

So... I wasn't even trying to do anymore research, I just happened to discover more info about Krillin's Non-Self State lol 😅. This power-up has a connection to the Immortal Phoenix that granted Roshi immortality.

In the "EXTRA THOUGHTS" section at the bottom of my post explaining Krillin's power, I explain how the Immortal Phoenix granted Roshi immortality. The Immortality Elixer 🍵 was likely made from the Paradise Herb 🌿 brought to Roshi by the Immortal Phoenix.

Roshi knew of the blessed herb that was able to extend the lifespan, but he did not earn it through enlightenment as Krillin did.

Immortality was gifted to Roshi by the Immortal Phoenix, then again by Krillin, who had achieved enlightenment.

Why is enlightnement important? How does this connect Krillin's new power with the Immortal Phoenix?

The Paradise Herb only appears for those who have achieved enlightenment, which is why the Paradise Herb appeared after Krillin achieved enlightenment. In Buddhism, the phoenix is a symbol of enlightenment. This is why the Immortal Phoenix was able to gather the Paradise Herb to make the Immortality Elixer that Master Roshi drank.

The Immortal Phoenix was an enlightened being, so it could gather the Paradise Herb at any time & the same goes for Krillin who achieved enlightenment (who can also be considered "immortal" since he can now partake of the life extending plant anytime he wants).

So there you have it!

Only enlightened beings can gather the Paradise Herb. Krillin gathered the herb for Roshi just as the Immortal Phoenix did before him. And the Immortality Elixer is made of the Paradise Herb.
