Such a great movie. I love the dancing, music and the romance. I also like that they deal with topics such as abortion and at the end of the movie you’ll see two ladies dancing together. 3 out of 5 stars.
When they first moved in together they didn't really know how to function around each other, beyond saying hi in the halls.
No amount of saying it actually made them realize that they were brothers now. Finn would still jump when he turned into the kitchen and saw Kurt, Kurt would still freeze when he saw Finn on the couch watching TV with his dad.
Finn lasted 3 weeks before he broke and asked Mercedes what Kurt's favorite movies were. She said "The Sound of Music, but you can't go wrong with a Disney movie."
Finn had never seen The Sound of Music.
"Hey man," he knocked on Kurt's door, "Rachel wouldn't stop talking about this movie, you wanna watch it with me so I don't embarrass myself?"
He wasn't subtle, but apparently the concept of watching The Sound of Music with someone who had never seen it was enough to get Kurt's attention.
"I actually like musicals," he told Kurt. "I just never get a chance to watch them with someone who won't make fun of me for it."
"What about Carole?"
"She's always working, I'm sure you've noticed. She doesn't really have a lot of free time to watch a movie she's already seen just so I have someone to hang out with."
"And I know I've been hanging around Burt a lot but, just being around your parents all the time is kind of a drag y'know?"
He liked the sound of music, even if it was a little long and he almost fell asleep in the middle there.
The next day Kurt knocked on his door, "Do you want to watch The Matrix with me? I've never seen it."
"You've never seen The Matrix?!"
"I didn't come here to be judged Finn."
"No, no, let's go."
Kurt liked it.
They found out about a week later, after they had been hanging out nearly every day, that their "favorite movies" were not actually their favorite movies.
Kurt's favorite movie was Spider-Man. Or Rush Hour, depending on how he feels that day.
Finn's was Dirty Dancing. Full stop.
"Really?! Puck told me it was The Matrix, or Inception."
"Ha, those are his favorite movies, I just like them a lot. Mercedes told me yours was The Sound of Music."
"Well it's certainly up there, but it's not really something you can just throw on and watch all the time."
It was nice knowing that Kurt put in the same effort that he did.
They adjusted. It didn't take Finn long to realize he loved him now. Kurt's his brother. He always wanted a little brother.
A year later Sam moved in. When they all jumped when he entered the living room, they just looked at each other and asked him what his favorite movie was.
Neither of them liked Avatar. But Sam's enthusiasm and info-dumping distracted from how boring they thought it was.
(Sam thought it was crazy how it seemed like they could read each other's minds. Finn and Kurt at school were nothing like Finn and Kurt at home. Kurt would nudge Finn, hold up three fingers and look pointedly at the tv and Finn would lose it, as if any of that made any sense at all. But Sam was used to it, after having to babysit his siblings, who were the masters of inside jokes even though they were only ten. He just hoped someday he would have something like that.)
One look at you and I can't disguise

Unknown Pleasures #14: Rebecca Shannon
It was a quiet early lockdown day last year. I’d been providing free mentoring sessions through a Covid Scheme in Scotland when BOOM, my life changed. Rebecca Shannon came into it. Ostensibly looking for advice she was really just doing what smart entrepreneurs do, sifting the world for insight and inspiration. We hit it off on the spot. She liked my approach and later, it turned out, she…

Dirty Dancing Review-
Ok so , I just want to state right of the bat. This movie made me a bisexual mess.... both Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey... I just. God this movie.
Something I want to congratulate this movie for is their soundtrack. It’s actually extremely clever and PERFECTION though the entire film. I love when movies will do that, when the songs are not just for background but actually hold deeper meaning either in the title or lyrics. Like how half the songs, though love songs like any other , specifically included Baby. Also all the songs were just catchy as hell but that’s just me. Love is strange. That whole scene just mmm 👌
The story is actually more then I expected initially, the setting is both kinda hysterical but also extremely efficient? Just Dance instructor that drives the cougars wild is both funny and sad. The movie does do the common storyline of
seamingly has everything
Throw money at problem or get daddy’s help and it’s fine
Except uh oh being rich means basically being a prop to your parents and not your on thing, you think you know it all when you know nothing in life
Envy those below you, romanticizing being poor but are shocked when it’s not that great
Doesn’t have much
Rough on the outside, doesn’t want to show the other anything, actually a sweetie
The responsibilities , stress, work and work , was on the streets or street ™️ at some point
Envy and hate those above you to find out it’s not that great for them either
However semi tropy that is I’m always a sucker for the Romeo and Juliet , wrong side of the tracks sort of romance. If my obsession with pretty in pink hasn’t told you that yet. I’m also loving that it’s also a stand up for what you love/ believe in story as well as a Get with the times old man™️ sort of thing. As much as it does the more trope/basic plot points it stands out to me personally. I’m not usually a romance person but I’m living for this movie.
I’m really not doing it justice by just talking about the tropes it does. Penny, the whole major plot point around her? How the problem pushes forth the entire plot itself? Also how teaching baby to dance leads to several montage scenes .... have I ever mentioned how I’m a SUCKER for montage scenes especially with great music.
Do I even need to talk about the dancing?! Like holy shit. Yes yes yes yes yes yes hello yes.
The outfits, the music, the dancing?! Hell yes
Also all my love for Tito. You were there for 3 minutes and I love you.
I don’t care who you are, this line is WAY better then the baby in a corner one :
I feel a new obsession coming on and I blame absolutely all of you even though no one suggested it
