Some helpful things to remember if you are a parent or work with kids.
This episode is with Marc Miller, my friend and partner in the career space discussing personal branding for older workers as it pertains to video. Marc’s advice will serve older workers aspiring or already working remotely. Older workers’ obstacles with video presentations to their employer are addressed in our conversation.
Marc says you’re an actor. Video is your stage so it’s important for you to consider the quality of your sound and lighting. You can take your clues from newscasters reporting from home says, “Watch what’s behind them and the Zoom backgrounds. And I tell people don’t use them because I want the focus on you. What’s behind you brands you.”
The way you communicate in person doesn’t always translate virtually or to video. It’s a matter of creating comfort with various audience dynamics. People who are creating networking opportunities are now scheduling Zoom calls than phone calls because multiple people can participate in a single meeting. Marc says, “We may never shake hands again.”
“You’ll need to decide how you want to be perceived, and that’s your personal brand.”

Friendly reminder that not everyone needs to persue higher education.
Don’t get pressured by friends, school, family or society to do that.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to get higher education even if you don’t want to.
If you don’t want to, that’s totally fine. Not everyone needs a degree.
Please get a job that makes you happy. Don’t go to college/university and study something only for the money.
Money doesn’t make you happy. Passion does.

We are lucky to have such a wonderful outdoor learning environment to help us with the new world situation. When we re-open on August 3, we will be utilizing all of our outdoor spaces to provide safer learning environments for our students.
Students at TMA are responsible for maintaining and caring for their environment, both indoors and outside. Here are students from Toddler through Elementary working in and taking care of our lovely gardens, from the courtyard beds to the geodesic dome.

Crossmen’s (based in Austin, Texas) opening statement from last year’s show, “Valkyrie.”
Considering the 2020 DCI season has been cancelled (due to you-know-what) I’m going to share & recognize all of the Top 12 Corps from 2019 because I believe these organizations have so much important educational & life experiences to offer the youth. I marched drum corps years ago and I still believe that it was one of the most important experiences in my life and taught me so much. I believe it’s an activity that should live on so that more and more younger people can, too, have those truly remarkable life experiences and can continue to thrive within the journey. Here’s to the current members of the drum corps community who are keeping the activity alive & well. Totally looking forward to what the future holds for the activity.
Stuck on vanderwaal’s equation. Hopefully can finish off this module till tomorrow afternoon. Peace.
