I wanna see Hadestown live...
That's all I want.
Like hearing Wait for me, Chant, Our lady of the underground and Why we build the wall
Apparently the cost of Euridyce saving herself come with the price of Orpheus being decent and their whole love story being genuine.

So I'm working on a piece for the book of Greek Mythology short stories I'm working on... And I think I might post it here in pieces (it's written in pieces a la The Last Five Years), would that interest anyone?
It's the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Orfeo ed Euridice, C.W. Gluck - Irish National Opera
[ID: 5 images alternating between performance of Orfeo ed Euridice and libretto of Orfeo ed Euridice. FIrst image is of Orfeo facing forward with a mournful face being held by Euridice, who is covered by a veil. Second image is of libretto
“EURYDICE Leave me in peace! ORPHEUS No, my life, I will always come after you like a haunting shadow.”
Third image is of Orfeo and Euridice from the side. Orfeo is sitting on the floor, turned away from Euridice, who is touching his back. She is still covered in a veil. Fourth image is of libretto
“EURYDICE Then why are you so harsh? ORPHEUS I well could die of sorrow, but I will never tell you why.”
Fifth image is of a chorus dragging Euridice, still in her veil, away from Orfeo, who is held back with arms outstretched towards Euridice. /end ID]
i firmly believe that if all the suits had survived the ulysses job they would’ve gone their separate ways BUT they still meet up on holidays for an incredibly tense dinner during which they try their very hardest not to talk about politics or sports
wait no actually someone ask me how i hc that euridyce died bcus i’m actually kind of proud of how i managed to adapt that from the original myth
i have so so many thoughts about echo and euridice but i don’t know how to share them so they will simply sit in my head until i do pensive emoji
had the worlds DUMBEST brain freeze and thought signals (from transistor) was a song from hades
Recently, Hades by Supergiant Games won the Best Game Award at the BAFTA Games awards.
A couple of days later, I finished my adventure in the underworld.
I still have to get Achilles and Patroclus together and we all know that's too important to pass.
But since I technically finished the main story, I decided to give it a go to write a little review of my own for such a wonderful game.
Let me start by saying that when I was younger, I was a 100% AAA games girl. Never would have crossed my mind to play indie games because, why playing small simple games when a mass production with amazing graphics was waiting for me?
Today, many indie games later, I'm grateful for not being that person anymore.
Hades is a rogue like game where you play as Zagreus, the rebellious and insubordinate son of the lord of the Underworld himself, Hades. You have one goal: escaping the underworld to get to the surface, where freedom and someone else (Not the point of this review to spoil anything) awaits you.
The first thing that shocked me was how a game based on the premise of repetition, wouldnt get boring no matter how many times I had to restart everything from the beginning.
Maybe that everytime you have to start over, something is different. Maybe it's your best pal Hipnos with a different joke, maybe it's your mentor and father figure Achilles waiting to share a different kind of advice, maybe it's the fact that this time you can unlock a different power that will help you achieve what you couldn't before while you run through the chambers of the underworld. Or maybe its Zagreus.
Or you, as the player.
The characters on the game are simply wonderful. Setting aside my too big for my body love for any kind of mythology, seeing the Greek pantheon take form and talk to you through your adventure, sharing stuff about their godly family, jesting and even getting vengeful because yes, this are gods we are talking about, is amazing. And they are so diverse too! Please discard the idea of all Greek gods being too white too blonde little angel faces and come here with us to enjoy Ares or Athena in their full glory.
The gods, as someone from Supergiant Games itself said, are suppose to represent people from all over the world. And boy do we all come in all shapes and forms.
And then you have your batch of mythical heroes like Achilles, Patroclus, Euridice and even Theseus waiting to talk to you or fight you, and this time hey, maybe you can help them find a softer ending for their stories.
Hades plays with the myths we all know and match them together to create a beautiful and original story that it's not about repeating Homeric tales but about telling a different story, with an original character in the center of it all and you, as the player, discovering a very well designed underworld and fighting your way out to the surface with your sword, your fists or however you feel more comfortable punching shades in the face.
And please, the visuals. This game is beautiful from the moment you leave Hades home until the moment you see the sunset for the first time on the surface. Feast for the eyes.
So yes, after finishing Hades and knowing I'm going to go back to it, I'm grateful for having learned to appreciate this little (And please, sometimes big too) masterpieces called indie games. And I'm so beyond excited to see so much recognition for them in big awards too.
Play Hades. Help Zagreus fight until the end. Then die. And start again. And again. And again, and let this story of resilience and bravery warm your heart.
We are all Zagreus, after all. ⚔
big ol sketch dump of Dadmentio I forget if I posted or not but have it anyway
