given tobias’ new focus on teaching moral values in his league (albeit using morally grey fuckhat methods), all the typed badges in preuzien are named after the moral and personal values that each typing and/or the associated trial is supposed to represent. to give a few examples:
anakin’s flying-type badge is called the freedom badge, representing, well, freedom. yes i called it the liberty badge because canonically skyla in masters has the freedom badge but yoU KNOW WHAT I LIKE FREEDOM BETTER SO I’M STEALING IT.
nadia’s fighting-type badge is called the guardian badge, because she believes that martial arts and fighting abilities are supposed to be used first and foremost to protect others.
peter’s rock-type badge is called the resilience badge. because rocks are nothing if not sturdy, which you must also be as you go through life.
psyche’s psychic-type badge is called the insight badge. this could mean intellectual and philosophical insights, and it could also mean having personal insight and empathy for your team.
marcia’s grass-type badge is called the nurture badge. named for how you nurture plants and help them grow.
flosshilde’s fairy-type badge is called the enigma badge, which stands for the ability to contemplate the world’s deepest secrets, which fairies are often the guardians of.
feiyun’s dragon-type badge is called the ritual badge. this name has its roots in chinese culture, where dragons are a symbol of the rulers’ authority, which is also tied to confucian beliefs in ritual as the bedrock of a stable society.
the badges of the other gym leaders are also given such names, though those are more directly related to their challenges.
