Hello darlings! We’re past the middle of January already. My this month is flying by!
Today’s story was brought to you by Emily! Darling, we don’t speak much, but you’re always a joy when we do. Thank you for your support!
Prompt: The Silver Rose

Lydia’s house was a maze of doors that went nowhere, stairs that were missing steps, and mushrooms carved into every available surface. Jax knew better than most the artifacts that littered the house, set on tables, or mounted on the walls. He had acquired most of them for Lydia over the years. Her house, her place of power, was tailored precisely to her desires.
Getting into the house was easy. Lydia wanted them there. Getting back out would be much harder. The house itself would fight them, and so would Lydia. It was a mercy that she considered herself too powerful to need guards. That would make escaping substantially easier.
Jax was mentally going over what he had on him that might help. Had all his gear, because he wasn’t expecting Tanglethorn to come along as willingly as he had. Unfortunately, as difficult as a rogue Fae could be, Jax hadn’t anticipated the kind of trouble that called for heavy arsenal. That meant that, although he had a lot of ‘take it alive’ tricks on him, he didn’t have much in the way of ‘kill it dead’ tricks.

At the Sign of the Silver Rose:
Jax took a contract from a Fae when he really should have refused. Now he has to find his bounty without falling into the razor-wire of Faerie politics.
