I've just finished the 1st book of the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead.
So, to be honest, I started reading this book some years ago after my obsession with Vampire Academy series. But when I read it back then, I was so head-over-heels with the previous cycle that I didn't pay much attention to Sydney, Adrian and the others. I read it just to see Rose and Dimitri cameo and didn't remember the plot.
As for now, I definately read it to know Sydney's story and her development as a character. To tell the truth, after these years Rose, Dimitri, their company and all the adventures feel like nostalgia. Plus, my favourite characters from VA series are still Janine and Abe, Rose's parents. Thus, I'm more fond of them at the moment.
Well, the 1st book was like an introduction and there were no large dynamic twists mostly. I mean, there were some, but it was like the beginning of one big story. And I liked it.
Maybe, I even would like this series almost as much as I enjoyed VA in the past because I feel I can understand Sydney much better than Rose. I mean, her thoughts, insecurities, habits, and intentions. While reading I was hit by the idea how Sydney and I were similiar time to time. Furthermore, I appreciate that slow burn trope with Adrian and Sydney. Not only slow burn, but even forbidden love trope.
So, I'm going to start reading the 3rd book as soon as possible.
