Day 21 - Severe lacerations
Could’ve done something detailed but no... subtle.
My condolences to all the Brettsey fans out there! I stopped watching Fire a long time ago but I know it absolutely sucks when your favorite character leaves a show :(
Now that you’re finally building the deck of your dreams, it’s time to consider outdoor lighting. While there are many reasons why you should illuminate your outdoor living space, there is absolutely no reason not to do so. Simply put, deck lighting is an investment you won’t regret.
Reasons to Illuminate Your Kansas City Deck
Right now, the days are getting shorter and the nights longer, which means deck lighting is more important than ever, especially if you want to enjoy everything your outdoor living space has to offer. Plus, once springtime rolls around, outdoor lighting will allow you to relax on your deck late into the night.
Added safety and security are the main reasons to invest in deck lighting. When it’s dark outside, it’s easy to trip over a flowerpot or miss a step because you can’t see well. This fact alone is why many homeowners are choosing to add lights to their stairsteps, which we’re seeing a high demand for as a preferred Kansas City deck contractor.
If you intend on using your outdoor living space at night to unwind or want to party with friends after the sun goes down, any type of lighting will increase your deck’s level of safety. However, one of the most essential types of illumination is a flood light with a motion sensor. This technology is a life saver because it instantly lets you see everything around you and it’ll scare off human and animal trespassers by brightening the area as soon as it senses movement.
Aesthetic appeal is another reason why homeowners should invest in deck lighting. When you’re beautifying your home by adding an outdoor living space, installing strategically placed lights is the icing on the cake. Not only are you illuminating the deck for your own personal enjoyment, but it presents guests with a warm welcome—even during daytime hours! For a natural glow, consider adding a Kansas City fire pit to your deck or patio, which we can install as your trusted Kansas City deck contractor.
Extend your indoor living space by investing in bright lights that illuminate your backyard retreat. When the lights on your deck are the same strength as the ones inside your home, it’ll feel as though your Kansas City deck is an extension of your living room or kitchen. This unique atmosphere will also allow you to entertain guests until the early morning hours.
Calming ambiance can be achieved when you add soft lighting to your backyard retreat. Installing accent lighting not only creates a romantic atmosphere, but it also allows you to enjoy quiet solitude. Just imagine leaving the stresses of the day behind as you step onto your illuminated deck with a good book and cup of tea or glass of wine.
Deck Lighting is an Essential Investment
All Weather Decks is the ultimate Kansas City deck contractor because we care about the finer details of every deck we design and construct. This is the reason why we want everyone to appreciate the importance of lighting as much as we do. We’re experienced at installing everything from low-voltage LED lights to arbor lights, and even illuminated water features!
Prior to the construction of your deck, we’ll be happy to introduce you to the different types of lighting available and explain how each will enhance the beauty, safety, and comfort of your dream deck. As with any home improvement project, it’s important to consider a variety of deck plans, which we are happy to present and discuss. We will only move ahead with construction once we know you feel confident with the intended results.

Fire safety training teaches employees how to avoid fires. Workers who are aware of the best ways to prevent fires can significantly contribute to a safer workplace.
Tips to prevent fires in the workplace:
Maintain a clean workplace. Litter and construction debris serve as fuel for fires, and clutter can obstruct exits and emergency equipment.
Smoke only in designated areas and safely dispose of smoking materials. Never, ever smoke in a storeroom or near a chemical storage area.
Mark potential fire hazards with clear, visible signage. In all work areas, post emergency phone numbers and the company address near the phone.
To avoid overheating and friction sparks, keep machinery clean and properly lubricated.
Repair faulty wiring and malfunctioning electrical equipment as soon as possible. It would help if you never attempted electrical repairs unless you were qualified and authorized to do so.
When working in potentially explosive environments, such as those containing flammable liquid vapors or fine particles, be aware of potential ignition sources. Use non-sparking tools and keep static electricity under control as needed.
Learn how to use a fire extinguisher correctly. Know where the fire extinguishers are and which extinguishers to use for which type of fire.

upon dumbledore’s request, he had wanted to bring the muggles and the wizards together. you had been the newest addition to the hogwarts staff. he had brought you in to teach muggle literature to the hogwarts students.
it was quite a daunting ask, which left you quite anxious.
were you even the right teacher?
what would the students even think of you?
maybe you could try teaching yourself magic so you could blend in.
you looked around your classroom, apprehensively glaring at the empty desks which were now going to be filled with students in about 20 minutes. you shifted your nerves onto every little detail that didn’t seem right to you. you were now making sure that the papers were neat on the desk, your projector was on and had the lesson up.
“i can sense your nerves all the way from the bottom of the stairs.” someone called out which instantly startled you, almost dropping your papers all over the place.
the professor almost held back a smirk at how scared you were.
“i don’t think we’ve met yet. severus snape, potions professor and head of slytherin.” he introduced.
“y/n l/n. muggle studies.” you said back.
“i don’t have very fancy titles like you so you’ll have to deal with muggle studies for now.” you said, rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly.
“you look nervous.” he noted. you turned back, trying to cover up how embarrassed you were.
you probably looked up on who severus snape was, he was one of the best if not; the best professor in hogwarts. so standing before him no doubt increased your doubts on being here.
but then again, you were picked for a reason and not many people can say that they’ve taught at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
in face you probably couldn’t say such a thing at all.
“is it obvious?” you asked.
“very.” he bluntly answered.
“well i appreciate the honesty i guess.” you said.
you sighed to yourself, your breath was deep but anyone could sense how scared you were by how shaky it was.
“you’ve only been doing this for a month, don’t set the bar up too high. you’ll do fine.” he said, you turned to him.
“are you sure…are you really sure?” you asked.
“you’ll be fine. now if i’m not mistaken, you have a muggle literature class in 3 minutes, 43 seconds and counting.” he said, looking up at the clock on the wall.
“oh, right! well, i best be getting started. i’ll see you around severus.” you said.
severus hummed, leaving you to prepare for your class. you watched him go downstairs as his robes followed suit. you couldn’t help but watch him leave, which in your head sounded quite weird.
but there was something about severus that drew you to him. you saw it in the few days that you saw him teach.
he was simply quite enthralling. he radiated foreboding and got respect at the click of a finger.
you were quite timid, and no doubt people of higher authority or anyone for that matter could walk over you. hell the thought of getting trampled on by an 11 year old made you cringe visibly.
you took a deep breath in and saw your group of students come in, welcoming them one by one as you got ready for the class.
a long day of teaching had come to an end. you sighed to yourself, looking at the pile of the essays that were handed by students. you dreaded looking over at the pile, fearing what could lie behind all of these papers.
an owl suddenly swooped past, dropping a letter at your desk, you turned your attention to the letter that dropped by. you picked it up and opened it.
see me in my class. s.s.
you slipped the letter, or rather the note into your pocket, grabbing your pile of essays and heading all the way downstairs to see the potions master.
you felt like you were back at school once more, going to see the headmaster for something that could either be good or bad.
once you arrived, you saw the door open wide. you could see severus at work, you knocked on the open door. he looked over to you and gestured you to come in, you smiled kindly and entered the potions. you took a look around, it was quite a sight to see.
you had never seen such place that was more ethereal than severus snape’s potions classrooms. potions neatly placed on the shelves, cauldrons on the desks and there saw his desk, he looked calm.
content with the work that he was doing.
“you wished to see me severus?” you asked.
“i did…would you like to accompany me?” he asked.
“i would like that, i actually brought some essays to mark as well, if you don’t mind that is.” you said.
severus only nodded. you sat opposite him, placing your essays in front of you as you marked alongside him.
it was silent for the most part, but it was something you were somewhat comfortable with.
you looked over at severus’ marking from time to time, it looked so complicated to a muggle like you but to the potions professor, it was simple.
“so how long have you been at hogwarts?” you asked.
“overall or just as a teacher?” he asked back.
“you’ve been at hogwarts before?”
“i was a student here. the class of 1972-1979. in terms of teaching, i’ve been teaching potions since 1981.” he answered.
“so you basically know everything here?”
“if you wish to call it that y/n.” he said.
you nodded, continuing at your marking. you looked over at your next paper and you squinted at the work put before you.
“just put a zero on it, with the word illegible.” he said without even looking at the situation at hand.
“are you sure severus?” you asked.
“if you cannot read the work before you, there will be no doubt you’ll ask them do redo it.” he advised.
you sighed, writing what he had advised. you continued at a steady pace, severus looking over at you from time to time. an odd feeling grew inside of him. he was calm.
you weren’t like other new or starting teachers he had met, you weren’t arrogant and big-headed about your job. in fact you were the complete opposite.
you were timid of all the things surrounding you, he took assumption that you hadn’t ever met a wizard in your life.
you were always asking questions, always wanting to improve.
you had to be a ravenclaw for sure, you were very clever in your field but he wasn’t sure of the wisdom. you were still young, the whole world at your door. perhaps you were a slytherin. you were very determined and that was one of many traits of a slytherin.
“will i be seeing you at dinner? it is mandatory that you be there.” he couldn’t help but ask you.
“really? i had a meeting with mcgonagall about-”
“skipping dinner for your work?” he intervened, a brow raised slightly.
“how do you know?” you asked.
“she told me.” severus answered.
“whilst your work no doubt will not go unnoticed, you can’t avoid your own wellbeing. i’ve been there.” he said.
“i know.” you mumbled.
“its nothing for you to get upset over. minerva and albus, well…mcgonagall and dumbledore do have a lot of support for young teachers such as yourself.” he assured you.
“then i’ll be there.” you said, severus patted your shoulder.
“good. then that also answers my question of if you would like me to accompany you.” he said.
you couldn’t help but let yourself smile at his words. that company really put you at ease, being around him made you feel safe, but at the same time he believed in you. making you more confident by the day.
as the months progressed, you were more comfortable around severus. you even stayed at hogwarts with him for the holidays. it was shocking to see that he too was also a person that had interests. you didn’t ask such things because you knew that would come with time and no matter how long it would take, you’d wait for him regardless.
he helped you in the times of need, and whilst he wasn’t the most expressive person, he would be quite happy when you make improvements in your class, or a class had gone successfully.
at the same time, he actually advised you in the times where you doubted your position at hogwarts.
he didn’t give up on you.
you actually wondered whether he harboured feelings for you but you knew that was far from happening. you didn’t want to tarnish what you had with him and you were sure he didn’t want that either.
you arrived at your classroom once more, you had recently done a mock essay on a segment of emily dickinson’s work. you were focusing on that with your 4th years. you weren’t aware of it at the time of marking but when you looked at the assignments in depth, none of the students had done well and you were more than concerned.
a few students had done well, around 3 or 4 but the rest had gotten low marks and it was worrying.
you looked over at your 4th years who had been waiting outside the class.
“come in 4th years, i have marked your assignments. we’ll be going through them together.” you said.
as the class went on, you couldn’t get any of the 4th years to listen. they had been messing around for a solid 20 minutes, they were distracted by every little thing and it was the day that you had taken house points from pretty much every house.
they were out of control and you couldn’t do anything about it. thank god these 4th years were the last class of your week, granted you were still going to see these students during the weekend but a break was what you needed.
perhaps a very long one…
once the class was over you looked over at the now empty classroom, tidying it up and picking up your newly submitted assignments.
only this time, tears stained your eyes. you went downstairs to severus’ classroom, wiping away your tears but they had flooded all over.
you entered the potions classroom but you didn’t greet severus like you usually would. severus looked up, he stood and approached you. you were now slumped on the floor, sobbing to yourself. severus closed the doors and knelt in front of you.
“y/n? is everything okay?” he asked.
you looked up at him, your tears were the only thing that glossed over your vision. the weight hadn’t been lifted, your true emotions of the day exposed completely to severus.
“what’s the matter? please tell me.” his tone grew worried, his brows furrowing as he held onto your hand.
“bad day…bad class.” you sobbed, the thought of your day instantly making you feel worse about yourself.
“oh y/n…” severus frowned.
he helped you up and he sat you in his chair, and instantly made you a warm drink to help you soothe your worries. once the drink was made you took a sip, instantly recognizing the taste.
“that’s lemon and chamomile, you’re quite observant you know.” you said, wiping away your tears as you took another sip of your drink
“so…bad lesson?” he asked.
“it’s the 4th years, in fact its all my classes. all of students i have just…wreak havoc, nobody respects me. or even acknowledges my presence and…it sucks that i’m here working my hardest and nobody, not one person acknowledges my work.” you vented, bringing out new tears once more.
severus frowned, reaching his hand to your face and wiping away your tears.
“i don’t even know why i’m here in the first place, i should just quit-”
“y/n l/n, don’t you dare do such a thing.” he sternly demanded.
you looked over at him, you saw how fearful he was about your upset state.
“they are simply testing the bridges, seeing how far you can go with them. i’ve had to endure that in my first month.” he revealed.
oh he simply remembered those days, some pushed his buttons, some even questioned the man himself considering he just graduated from hogwarts a few years back and he was that quick to take up a post in teaching potions, but severus managed to build his reputation from the inside out. and he done that all by himself.
nobody helped him out.
it was all his work.
“you’re not a bad teacher. you’re doing a good job, professor l/n.” he said.
your sad expression lifted, a small smile that only he could see perked on your face.
“i don’t know how you do it, its like they instantly respect you. whilst i get all the crumbs.” you muttered.
severus had the exact thing that could help you with that feeling.
“i have something for you.” he said, severus got up and went into his stores and grabbed a long piece of fabric.
“that’s your cloak.” you noted.
“not anymore.” he said.
“this was the exact cloak i had during my first 2 years of teaching. it kept me going in the times of desperation and it kept me strong. so i give this to you.” he said, helping you up and wrapping the cloak around you.
“it’s so long severus.” you giggled.
“i hope this cloak gives you a sign to keep going at your career, because believe me. you have potential beyond any training teacher i have ever met.” he admitted.
you couldn’t help but let your smile grow slightly wider, then you pulled him into a hug.
“thank you…” you said.
severus was quite surprised that your reaction was the way that it was, he tensed up for a moment but sooner or later, he relaxed.
“you’re welcome.” he said.
“i love you.” you uttered out, your eyes widened slightly before you let go and looked at severus, you were still in his cloak, wrapping it slowly.
“that is how you feel, miss y/n?” he asked.
you said nothing.
“don’t lie to me, y/n.” he whsispered. you only nodded.
severus cupped your cheek for a moment, then he pulled you into a warm kiss, you felt sparks fly around one another, the butterflies floating away as you felt your stomach was in knots. you couldn’t believe this was happening, you were falling for the potions master and you loved every minute of it.
you pulled away from the kiss but you pulled him into one more hug.
you only yearned for his touch and held you he did.
he was there to help you every step of the way and you hoped neither of you grew apart, for as long as you lived.
someone remind dany stans that arianne and especially elia sand are not in desperate need of role models or other women who rule in their right because they’re dornish. they can easily turn to any of the dornish ladies in their lives. they don’t need dany, they never have, they never will.
i’ve been saying this for years but dany stans love that dany is a white saviour and they've spent days trying to brainstorm new ways for dany to impose her presence on characters of colour.
arianne and elia will be dany’s enemies, not her friends, not her confidants, not her ladies in waiting and certainly not her girlfriends.
@heavenguided cont. from here.
It seemed her brother knew it was only a matter of time. So came the deal with being The Angel of Death, and listening to what some would say were just 'mad raving's of a dying man or woman.' But she knew better. She had started to realise the patterns before any human police force might have been able to.
The night didn't bring any comfort like it usually did. Usually the moonlight felt like a warm cloak that enveloped her and brought up her spirits, but tonight...tonight was moonless, and perhaps, that was a sign that she was doing the right thing.
She had been silent in her landing, as angels tended to be, but she knew he knew she was there. They were always able to sense each other. All a part of being created as they were. All of them were connected in some aspect, just some more than others.
Azrael had her blade hidden up her sleeve, hoping she'd not have to use it. She had seen enough death, smelt enough death, heard enough death. She didn't want to add to it if she didn't have to.
The blonde moved to stand beside him, watching the flames. If she was surprised or revolted by it, she gave no sign.
"It's been a long time, brother."
The human police force had been blissfully ignorant of what had been happening. Of course they were. Humans were horses with blinders. They could only see what was ahead of them. The supernatural, brimming and living alongside them, weaving in and out of Earth, always stayed just out of sight. Thus even something as extreme as the massmurder of angels was something, they were completely ignorant about.
Of course just because humans were ignorant of something didn’t mean that Heaven were just as blind. If anything, Michael no doubt had noticed what was going on. Nick counted on it. Though it seemed she had first send out a scout. Smart decision in picking Azrael out of all angels. As one of the only death angels, who hadn’t fallen, she was probably the best equipped to handle this situation.
Azrael’s betrayal still stung a touch, but Nick chose not to comment on it. He could sense her Nobody’s Blade, which did make him uncomfortable. But Nick chose not to show this. He knew Azrael. From all death angels, she was the most reluctant to kill. So even if she owned one of the deadliest weapons in the universe, it was unlikely that she was going to draw it.
Nick cast a long look her way. The flames reflected themselves dimly in her eyes. Azrael’s face was unreadable. Nick merely said: “I don’t go by that name anymore. It’s Nick Sethson now.” He had chosen to completely conceal his real name from humanity, even willing to respond to that stupid new name, they had given the devil: Lucifer Morningstar. He even responded to the misspelling of his real name, Samael, but he chose to not correct them.
Real names had power. It was why exorcisms worked through prayer. By calling on the right patronage, you could banish any demon, even someone as powerful as him, back into Hell. Nick didn’t dare to think what would happen, if somebody got a hold of his real name and used it properly for a spell. You might be able to capture the devil, but you could never hold him for long. And yet in that time, you could cause all sorts of damage as you had the powers of Death at your disposal. And humans were all far too selfish to handle these abilities in a sensible way.
“But you are right”, Nick said, “It has been a long time. I reckon, Michael send you down to figure out where the missing angels went.” There was a disgusting crunch and plop in the fire as the flames bent parts of a wing bone. A shower of sparks was sent into the sky and rained down upon them. “Well, congratulations.” Nick’s voice was bitter. “You found them.”
also apparently people are sending hate to people on here about last night’s cfire?? literally how pathetic can you be. I know “touch grass” is an overused phrase but… please go outside and touch grass. you’re fucking insane
