Mermay day 26: unicorn narwhale
Next Mermaid is a redraw of a Mermaid a friend of mine drew
A drawing of an Avatar oc of mine who I changed into a merman for MerMay! Hisao feels like a fish out of water, funnily enough, because he’s originally a firebender /cough/ avatar
This is Ernie, and he is doing a good job. I love him.
This was honestly a bit tough to write, but it worked out in the end. Anyways, here’s number 14 to @amonthofwhump‘s May prompts.
Content Warnings: just some manhandling, stress position, restraints, not much else.

“Sweeney, grab the chain and some more rope. Bring him up top.”
Alik had ripped out each fishhook with a pair of pliers. The boy’s clothes were in tatters as they tore through the fabric, his t-shirt long gone into pieces at this point. Small pricks of blood dotted his chest and shoulders and goosebumps lined his body.
He was torn to his feet as the rope was pulled, and he stumbled, but was quickly stabilized as he felt Sweeney behind him. The larger man unwrapped the chains from around his feet and nudged him forward. He staggered a bit but Alik kept a strong grip on the rope attached to the hook around his neck, keeping him upright.
They climbed up to the top of the deck, Alik yanking on the rope faster than Fish could walk, and he was dragged over to the bow of the ship, the front. Where the nose of the boat peered out over the water. The boat was barely moving, mild waves lapping at the sides of the boat.
Alik yanked Fish down to the ground, his hands slapping the deck as he fell. A boot nudged him over onto his stomach. He tried to roll over and lift himself up, but a sharp kick to his side made him groan out and remain still. His hands were yanked behind him, and Alik once again jerked the rope from around his neck. He felt new blood pooling down his bare shoulders as the large hook dug further into his skin. Alik wrapped the rope around his neck a few times, cutting off more circulation, but leaving him able to breathe. The ends of the rope wrapped around his wrists, leaving them tightly bound behind his back. Any movement of his hands or his neck only pulled the rope tighter around his throat, so he lay still. His ankles were bound with more coarse rope and he was forced up to a sitting position. Sweeney rattled a long, thick chain in his hands as Alik peered over the bow.
“What are- what are you gonna do?”
“Shut up, or we’ll gag you too.” Alik called back.
He walked over and grabbed the rope connecting his hands to his neck. Fish choked and sputtered as he was dragged over to the edge, the ropes cinching tighter around his throat. There was a short railing keeping the edge of the bow from the open ocean, and Fish looked down at the deep waters below.
The boy was forced on his knees and slumped over the railing. It dug into his chest as he heard the chains rattling from behind him.
“Like the captain said,” Alik began to say. “You look like a human, and act like one. But, you’re more like a fish.” The boy felt the thick chain begin to wrap around his stomach. “And so what’s the perfect blend of a fish, and a human?”
“A mermaid.” Sweeney answered.
“Thank you Sweeney, a mermaid, exactly.” The chain wrapped around his waist a second time, pulling tighter. “And, mermaids are the perfect decoration for the front of a ship. Fortunately, we don’t have a figurehead, do we? So I thought we’d make our own.” Alik’s hand dug into the back of Fish’s light hair and pulled his head back as Sweeney wrapped the chain around a third time, crawling the links higher up his chest. Fish’s head craned back as Alik spoke. “What do you think Fish? Would you like to be our mermaid?”
The boy shook his head, eyes wide. “Please- don’t, I-”
Alik laughed, yanking the chain even tighter across the boy’s torso. Fish let out a gasp of air as the muscles in his stomach clenched. Sweeney lifted the boy up and over the railing, the backs of heels barely hanging on to two inches in front of the railing. He teetered forward, but Sweeney held on tight to the other end of the chain. His balance slowly steadied as his shoulders were grabbed. He could hear the clanking of chains as they wrapped around the metal poles of the railing.
And then he fell.
Panic raced through his mind for a brief moment before the chains jostled tight behind him. He grunted out as the pressure tightened around his belly, all of his body weight resting in the soft flesh of his stomach. He swung slightly back and forth as the ship rocked in the waves. Every muscle in his body ached as he hung there limp.
A few feet above he could hear laughter, as Alik gazed down. Proud of the ship’s new figurehead.

I’ve done this almost two weeks ago, to experiment and to make something for MerMay. So hey!
ps. felicitasdraws is my handle on instagram, i’m too lazy to re-do the watermark
Holy crap! Those fish are HUGE! Do we even commercially fish for fish that big? Do fish like these even exist!?
