My Ranking of Taylor Swift's Albums
In honor of t Red (Taylor's Version), here's my ranking of her albums. Please keep in mind I adore every single album, so basically, if the album is at the bottom, it means I just like everything else better! It's constantly changing and albums/songs are constantly growing on me!
*whispers* don't hate me please
I. LOVE. THIS. ALBUM. I mean, she wrote every song BY HERSELF, it's lyrically beautiful (ex: Innocent, Haunted, Last Kiss, Dear John, Back to December) and there's a song for EVERY MOOD. Like there are love songs! There are breakup songs about that toxic ex of yours! There are breakup songs for when you know you're at fault! There are angry songs! I love most of the songs (not the biggest fan of Superman), but if someone were to ask me to rank these, I'm not sure I could because I love all the songs so much. Also Long Live is such a good album closer 😍
It took a while for the vibes of this album to grow on me, mostly because I'm not the biggest fan of indie-style music. However, after I listened to it 5 times through, I fell in LOVE. There are a few songs I dislike, which is why it's this low, but I adore the lyrics. Lyrically, I think it's one of her best albums, up there with Evermore. It's amazing that she wrote this all in a pandemic, and there's an obvious reason why the album won Album of the Year at the Grammys.
I love Red. Absolutely adore the songs, the lyricism, the melody, EVERYTHING. All Too Well. The Last Time. Red. Begin Again. I Knew You Were Trouble. Also the bonus tracks? They slap. I kind of just love everything about this album, and I keep forgetting how amazing it is.
1989 and reputation (tied)
1989 and Rep both took a really long time to grow on me, but now I LOVE THEM. I love the vibes, love the VOCALS, love the lyrics and Reputation Live Stadium Tour? Chills every time!!! I feel like the lyrics are so underrated in both albums because they're classified as pop music and therefore the lyrics aren't "good" but like THEY'RE AMAZING?! Also, these are some good albums to exercise to, just saying.
I think I've just listened to this album too much, and it's started getting a bit old. I still love most of the songs, and also the From the Vault Tracks? They slap, should've been on the original. I feel like I'd rather listen to the Vault tracks than the rest of the album, but I actually do love most of the songs on here...it's just a bit overplayed at this point.
I feel like this album hasn't had enough time to grow on me. The era was kind of cut short for me, because I tunneled in on Fearless (Taylor's Version) and the new tracks. I did get enough time to fully enjoy the beauty of tracks like happiness, no body no crime, champagne problems, and long story short. As I said earlier, lyrically this album is amazing, but I just need time for the melodies to grow on me. It's still a wonderful album about pain and healing though.
Self-Titled and Lover (tied)
Once I saw a post that said "you don't dislike Lover, you just dislike happy songs" and that person is totally correct. I adore every sad song on that album, along with The Man, YNTCD, IFTYE and Cruel Summer, but I feel like the album overall isn't cohesive. The sound isn't really my type either (just like...melodically) but the lyrics are really awesome. It's such a fun album to listen to, and I definitely don't dislike it!
Self-Titled just brings this youthful energy that I adore, and I actually love almost all of the songs (not including the bonus tracks...those gotta grow on me some more). I think lyrically, it's really beautiful as well as sonically and melodically. However, I feel like a lot of the songs sound similar and then I end up getting confused while listening to the album. And then again, I just like all the other albums better but both this one and Lover are growing on me.
