“The ache in his lungs was unbearable. He needed to tell her... what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn’t pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he’d begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near.”
Cannot believe that six of crows invented romance
I'M FANGIRLING SO HARD RN
Five bucks there’s a scene towards the end of the season that has Luz reunited with Camila and Eda starts walking away because hey she’s with her real family now. Only to have Luz grab her and drag her over to introduce to Camila
Bonus points if things with Lilith have progressed to a point and she gets dragged over as well
They had been born, and abandoned. This small child, a babe in the woods, taken in by others who found their odd appearance undaunting. Who did not care about appearance, all they cared is that they were a child and needed someone to love them. They looked like a tiefling, but had the white, soft, wings of an angelic. One eye a beautiful sky blue, the other flaming red. They projected strength, and kindness at the same time. They had horns, and yet, at the same time, a golden halo, a ring of magic, drifted between the two horns upon the child's head. -- Teachers
There are those who hold that the product of a Tiefling and an Aasimar should be merely Human. Most of the time, they are correct in that assumption. Once... they were wrong. Well. They could have been wrong. Nobody knew whose hands put the babe in the basket, nor the basket in the river, but it and its passenger wound up in Merrivale, where Dellaise Baumkyn scooped them up and became a mother.
Halflings are renowned for their hospitality, and any otherwise unwelcome soul finds themselves a warm welcome in their lands. So it was that the infant with both horns and downy wings had a new home and a new family. Dellaise named him Amatu, and loved him as thoroughly as any of her more natural children. She taught him well, fed him well, cared for him and worried as any mother would... and it was not very long at all before the child realised how different they were.
Being the tallest in the house at age eight will do that to a person. So when Amatu asked, Dellaise told the story of the luckiest day of both their lives. How two lives were made better with a simple discovery.
There was no note, and his infant self had escaped his swaddling, which was so generic and impersonal that Dellaise sometimes had dark thoughts about the person who had initially set him adrift. There may have been no choice. It may have been an act of desperation. There was no way to tell, and it didn't truly matter, as the important part was the love and family he had found.

Ch 17 of the tin can man
"There is a darkness deep within me... No matter my efforts it never ceases to claw at my heart, filling me with dread and despair day and night as I sleep and wake in a never ending cycle of doom and disaster, knowing I shall never be set free from the traps of time and torture within me.." "... Are you ok dude?"
"Don't worry, I put the 'fun' in 'funeral'!" "I don't want to find out what that's supposed to mean." "Oh, don't worry, you will!"
"Look what you did!!" "You're saying that like it wasn't the point?"
"Every moment with you is a living nightmare." "I'm glad."
"Everyone has a weakness. Yours seems to be that you think you don't have one."
"May I presume that you are, indeed, an idiot?" "Yes, you may."
"I have to talk to you." "Ok." "And you need to actually listen." "Oh.."
"Why on earth do you think I'm into you??" "You always use that sweet nickname for me, remember?" "'Stupid moron' is not a sweet nickname!!"
"Don't worry, nobody's gonna see me." "Someone is definitely going to see you." "Why?" "Look at yourself!"
"Why are you so heinously incompetent?" "Can you please calm down, it's only Monday morning."
Headcanon: Amber definitely forced Milo to watch a disney movie with her at some point and he fell asleep in the first 10 minutes. Pass it on.
G, 31k, wangxian
Summary: Lan Wangji had come to Carp Tower to seal an alliance with the Yiling Patriarch, in order to prevent a war the Lan Sect couldn't win. But the deal was brokered by the Jin sect for reasons of their own, and instead Lan Wangji found himself all but coerced into an unexpected marriage.
My comments: I just want to live in this series. I'll bring my comfy chair and my cats and favorite bits of art and I'll never leave. This world is engrossing and I love it to pieces. The characterizations are perfect, and entertaining, the set up is great, just... the whole story is on fire in the best way.
In this AU, wwx has been in the Burial Mounds for most of his life (well, he's on his third life now, but...) and alone for much of it. But now he's got the Dafan Wens to protect and be his family. But the Jin want something from him, and he's been 'encouraged' to visit Carp Tower through some strategic hostage-taking and information that Cloud Recesses had plans to attack them. Meanwhile, the Lan have been told that Cloud Recesses is under imminent attack by the Yiling Patriarch unless they cement an impromptu alliance. So with no time to breathe or ask questions, boom, wangxian are married, willy nilly.
Of course, nothing is as it seems, and these two smart boys figure it out quickly. But that doesn't mean that lwj isn't committed to his new husband and his family, a stubborn attachment that only grows stronger as he learns wwx's tragic past and witnesses his bright humor, fierce love for his family, and very sharp mind. (The fact that he's young and beautiful is purely incidental.)
Excerpt 1: ...they had no choice. The wars of the previous generation and the volcanic eruption in Qishan had left the countryside devastated, cities and sects in ruins, all across the continent. The Lan had been lucky to survive at all, and now they were lucky the powerful Jin had chosen to intercede in order to stop the attack on Cloud Recesses by the Burial Mounds. Lan Wangji said, "I agreed to this, Brother." He didn't add, "It will be fine," because it wouldn't. It would be what it was.
Excerpt 2: Fortunately, Wei Wuxian had an affinity for Yin Iron that came from spending a lot of time dead with it.
N.B. [If you loved this story, you should probably go read... everything... by Moominmammashandbag, because I feel like the tone, characterizations, and blend of both humor and actually fraught situations is similar.]

chapter summary: Luke, Din, Artoo and the child arrive on Chandrila and begin to settle into their new home.
work summary: For so long, Din fought the reality of giving the child up, giving him to the jetii and moving on. He had prepared for it, packed a bag and left it all behind, so his son could have the life he deserved. All until he didn't have to. Or the one where Luke rescues Grogu on Tython, and Din rescues Luke in return.
Because Luke could feel him there when they were asleep, and the world was calm. He could feel the soft dreams of his love, could feel the ebb and flow of his breath against his throat. He could feel their legs tangled together, the gentle press of Din's toes against his knees. And Din held him like a lover did every night they lay together. And Luke couldn't help it, couldn't staunch the poisonous thoughts from seeping into their bond, because asleep, Din made him feel safe, made it easier to lower his walls and let their love flow in.
Din didn't deserve his anxieties; he had enough to worry about without involving Luke. He deserved to sleep and rest peacefully, to not wake in the night as Luke did with sweat clinging to him and fear in his eyes. He didn't want to wake their baby, to sour their connection. His pain was his to bear, the last Jedi with the burning of the universe trapped in his head.
Luke turned to wave as the Falcon's engines ignited, taking Han and Leia and the others away to their apartment in Hana City. They'd be back in a few days, Leia had promised when they said goodbye. And then, just between them echoing in their bond. Give you some time alone with your brand new boyfriend.
He had blushed then, at the implications therein that this was some sort of… what? A honeymoon? Leia knew that they weren't married, and Din explaining to her (and to Luke, to a greater or lesser extent about the translation of riduur, his blush deepening as he considered what Boba Fett had said to Din when they left Tatooine).
"It's a life mate," Din had explained, his words rosy and bold in their bond, his heart filled to bursting with love. "A partner, it means more than just spouse,"
"You gonna make an honest man out of him, Djarin?" Han had asked, his lip quirking up into a half-smile as he leant his arm on Leia's shoulder.
"He made an honest man out of me," Din said quietly, rubbing his thumb over Luke's. "I hope to return the favour one day,"
