Pride showcases the power of community and what is possible when we work together. From rejecting police brutality to organizing for fair treatment, we take care of us. This principle of care is demonstrated in the first Stonewall riot, and it’s shown in LGBTQ+ marches today. When the powers that be try to suppress us, when systems like policing and healthcare fail us, we as trans and queer people take care of each other. We always have. We always will.

No matter how different we are, Pride is a place where trans people show up for one another. We march for joy and to express our rage, too. We march to demand equal, compassionate, empowered care. We march to assert our existence and our well-being. When we gather at Pride and through the year—in all our fabulousness—we show each other what is possible. We show up to claim, dream, and create the trans future we all deserve to dance toward, together.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, a month-long celebration that commemorates LGBTQ+ history and honors the LGBTQ+ community. Many cities and towns hold Pride marches where people can express the parts of themselves that are not always celebrated in mainstream society. From drag queens to leather daddies to trans mermaids, Pride is a party, a spectacle, and a statement of our collective joy.

Pride is not all rainbows and parades, though. Pride began as a riot and today, many trans activists call for a return to its roots. Pride represents the ongoing fight against oppression, and our marches today honor our collective resistance to heteronormativity, the continued criminalization of trans bodies, and the systems that try to suppress and destroy us. Pride acknowledges that we thrive in spite of a dominant culture that wishes we’d keep quiet and stay home. We’re here and we’re queer—and we’re not going anywhere.

It’s been over a year since she-ra ended but Noelle continues to be so affirming in the worlds he’s created and their own transition and relationship to queerness and I’m always filled with so much emotion seeing how she’s been able to feel more and more comfortable with her body and how even though he spent so much time questioning whether he was “trans enough” he was able to find confidence and support and they’re able to go at their own pace and it’s just so damn validating and I wish them nothing but the best.

#Noelle Stevenson#trans experience#gender euphoria #I’ve taught myself to stop putting people on pedestals and to see well known people as human and it honestly allows me 2 relate 2 them more #like. they’re not perfect but are able to have humility and self confidence and be loved and happy #and I can aspire to be loved and happy #and bring joy to others with my own work and by sharing my own experiences

Some of you really have to accept that not all nonbinary people use they/them.

Like someone can still be nonbinary and use she/her or he/him

#also some of you need to stop seeing that someone afab uses she/they and being like OK! Girl lite! she/her ONLY #and im not really sure how to explain my problem with the second one. because if someone uses she/they #then YEAH she is fine. thats a pronoun they use #but. hmmm #no one has ever once used they for me. only she. so it feels like people are collectively going ''ok girl'' #because gendered pronouns are easier to accept. theyre familiar. #plus the infantilization of afab nb people really drives home the girl lite thing #not to mention the complete refusal to acknowledge amab nb people 🙃 #ive just got some feelings today sorry #she is. fine. really it is. #but the freaking joy of someone finally finally using they? i wonder if ill ever find out #OH I GREW A BRAIN i know how to phrase it now!!! #people act like ''she'' is the default pronoun if they are given the choice between she and they

its interesting that gatekeepers try to target mspec folks interested in f/m relationships with “straight-passing privilege”, given that same-sex couples can be that too. you can have a butch and a femme of the same gender and people might assume its a man and a woman. but noone thinks same-sex butch/femme couples are privileged, because thats stupid, erasure isnt a privilege. gatekeepers just ignore that when attacking mspecs because logic and intellectual honesty was never the goal for exclusionists, harm and fracturing is the goal

#italked#queerphobia anecdotal#about queerphobia#original post #any type of couple can be '''straight-passing''' it solely depends on gender presentation #its such a dumb meaningless term #anyone can pass as non-queer if they really try. it may not Always totally work but generally they can #you can restrain yourself from queer attraction/joy and justify any queer disinterest/depression as just being like #a certain type of person. depressed/reclusive/anxious/too busy to date/understated/humble/practical/etc #thats not a privilege thats called being closeted #and obviously for some folks its very emotionally damaging but they Can do it. many have throughout the centuries #and theres nothing wrong with closeting but its very obviously not a privilege #itagged

ANYWAY ive decided that jon is indian so

#like #i have so many reasons #1. im indian and i say so #2. it has so much potential like??? ik its probably out of character BUT i like to think he occasionally watches those bad indian dramas #all my grandparents watch #i think hed kinda enjoy the bizzare mix of nostalgia and disbelief at the sheer amount of drama #(am i projecting? possibly) #3. i dont think hes great at cooking but theres no way his grandmother wouldve let him grpw up w/o knowing the basics of how to make like. #rotli and daal and shit #and idk its just nice to imagine that in another universe where sasha and tim didnt die and no one became SpookyTM and everything was happy #they could cook :) for each other :) #cooking someone something your grandparents used to make for you as a kid is something that can be so personal actually #4. martin making him tea...martin making him masala chai.....(do you know how hard it is to get good masala chai in this part of london??) #6. given when he grew up + british asian = he probably watched goodness gracious me #like.... idk...goodness gracious me my beloved #5. ive decided basira is also south asian which means. which means he gets to experience the sheer JOY of meeting another person who #Gets It whos also asian (whos not a relative) #esp when you live/d in a v white area yknow (idk if bournmouth has a lot of asians but im guessing no?) #7. PANI PURI #8. the minor crisis that comes from being Not Gender during raksha bandhan?? unparalleled #9. he has probably at some point worn a sari or punjabi suit and chanya chori either as an adult or a kid (this is very important to me) #10. the smart and nerdy but socially inept asian stereotype makes me want to burn something but. nd asian :) trans ace asian :) #(not entirely canon but idc) #anyway#:)#personal shit#tma

#skam brighton #HEY BESTIES IT'S GENDER TIME #now you may be asking yourself why i am doing this when i already did a whole gender season #the answer is simple. i am trans+nonbinary so my characters are allowed to be as well #literally the skambr cast LOVE pronouns #broke: the boy squad and the girl squad #WOKE: the lad squad and the bestie squad #i am a pioneer of representation i know i Know #the majority of the main cast of skambr Are trans #it's in the text and it's discussed and sometimes it's relevant and sometimes it's not!!!! trans people just exist babey #genuinely being friends with trans+nonbinary people and discussing gender can be so healing #because gender Is about having fun and feeling happy and comfortable!!! #i use many different pronouns and present my gender in many ways!!! it makes me happy and i love it!!!! #growing up being told that being trans is all about pain and self hatred was so intensely damaging #and i keep seeing tiktoks on my fyp saying like 'just realised i have to be trans forever :(' #and i understand Why those people say that on an objective level #but also i so deeply love being trans and wouldn't change it for anything in the world #transphobia sucks. dysphoria sucks. but at the end of the day my gender is about me and i love being trans with so much of my heart #i'm genuinely really proud!!!!! and it Is the titular pride month!!!! #so much of trans people in media is just. pain. and i just want to create a space of joy but also discussing real issues #like i love stories where characters just Happen to be trans but i also love when it's a Part of the story

It's time for ghost's hot take of the week. This week's hot take is: you don't need to cycle through 6 different types of pronouns in one sentence to validate someone who is pronoun indifferent!

Pronoun indifference is specifically, "I don't really care how you refer to me because there are no pronouns I feel that conflict with my gender."

Pronoun indifference is not, "I am so beyond having a gender that using one set within a sentence is going to undo me because you have somehow implied that the set you used is, in fact, my gender."

First off, cycling through many pronouns in one sentence is extremely confusing. The brain instinctively thinks more than one person is being talked about and is trying to figure out which set of pronouns belongs to who.

Second, being afraid to use one set of pronouns for the duration of a thought process, or even a whole conversation, for someone who is pronoun indifferent leads me to believe that the speaker is afraid that using one set will somehow imply that they see them as "that gender." This is an issue for two reasons: 1) you are not trusting in the pronoun indifference of the person you're speaking about, believing that using one set will somehow hurt or offend them, and 2) you are conflating pronouns with gender, which is not only wrong and offensive, but also perpetuates the belief that she=girl, he=boy and they=other, which is not true.

Pronouns do not belong to any one gender just because they are the popular choice within a category. If someone is pronoun indifferent, it's because they recognize this and simply don't care how people refer to them because they don't feel especially more connected to one set over another. They may feel very connected to all of them or disconnected from all of them or anywhere in between.

If an amab person is pronoun indifferent, it is not transphobic to refer to them with he/him pronouns.

If an afab person is pronoun indifferent, it is not transphobic to refer to them with she/her pronouns.

If you personally are concerned that your use of he or she pronouns will be determined by the subject's presentation or such and you want to work on your own perceptions and challenge yourself not to connect binary pronouns to binary genders or appearances, you can also just stick with they/them pronouns and get some practice with those.

You don't need to give everyone brain hemorrhaging by changing the subject's pronouns every 3 words. It is dizzying

#to be clear this is specifically about the people referring to someone #if you yourself are pronoun indifferent and enjoy the multitude of pronouns used by a pronoun cycler #that makes complete sense and I'm absolutely not judging you for it #it just seems to me like it would be equally euphoric to hear he/him for a day and then suddenly get a switch to she/her from the friend #referring to you and then light up from the joy of the change #idk#gender#nonbinary#nb#trans#ghostpost#pronouns #I'm also not saying there aren't people who do prefer this specific method of referral #just that the average pronoun indifferent person does not require this level of pronoun fuckery
