    Global Warming

Satellite Observations Show Marine Clouds Amplify Global Warming

A new analysis of satellite cloud observations finds that global warming causes low-level clouds over the oceans to decrease, leading to further warming.

These clouds, such as the stratocumulus clouds responsible for the often gloomy conditions, are widespread over the global oceans and strongly cool the planet by shading the surface from sunlight. The new study finds that, overall, this cooling effect will be modestly reduced as the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere increases. The warming initially caused by increasing CO2 gets an extra push from reductions in clouds — an amplifying feedback.

And now the consequences are indeed here, and they're getting worse. Are they really irreversible yet? I honestly don't know. Would it be irresponsible to gamble on not trying to reverse, or at least mitigate them? I think yes.

the saddest thing about the whole fnaf scott cawthon supports trump situation is that fnaf fans are defending him on twitter and reddit by saying he’s entitled to his opinion...because to straight white people, it is just an opinion.

it doesn’t harm you if you say conversion therapy should be legal and trans people are all rapists, because it doesn’t affect you.

and now scott is out here whining, woe is me, woe is me, all the lgbts hate me when i’ve been nothing but kind to them...as he donates to Mitch fucking McConnell.

    like god.

i wish i could be mad, but i’m mostly just sad at the state of this species.

i wish global warming would just kill us all right now, but that’s just an opinion too, i guess, that it exists, and is a fucking issue.

#scott cawthon#fnaf #scott probably was anti mask too #probably doesnt believe in global warming either #might just be a full fundie for all we know the man just likes making stories about dead kids #im sure springtrap afton was just a pro choicer

On climate change and food security

So, one infamous occurrence among gardeners in the spring is a 'late frost', meaning after it's been already warm for a while, it gets so cold again, the ground freezes, and all the tender plants that grew while it was warm, die. We all align planting our gardens after the last frost has already happened, which for me, is the middle of April. However our gardens are not what will be the most affected by this last frost; it's the fruit trees. If fruit trees flower early, and then the frost freezes them afterwards, the flowers will fall off, and the tree produces no fruit that year.

Lately, the climate change has caused more and more of this to happen. I experienced immensely hot days in February, that I don't remember experiencing before, I'd been swimming in the river by March, which is also uncommon. Thanks to that intense heat so early in the year, all the fruit trees flowered earlier, only to be completely devastated by the awful, horrible late frost in April. This year, the last frost was so intense it wiped out all the sour cherries, and it created a completely new food struggle for me.

Spring is a traditionally a dry period with food; you can have whatever survived the winter, like carrots, broccoli, lettuce, scallions, kale, maybe chard if you're lucky. But you're unlikely to be harvesting any new fresh produce until June, when the peas, zucchini and the cucumbers are up. I counted on being okay, because usually at the end of May, I harvest buckets full of sour cherries, and will satisfy myself by eating kilos of them every day. Fruit trees have been essential for my survival! However, this year, I found only three unripe little cherries. That's a big loss! Other gardeners have said to me it's questionable if we will get any fruit or nuts this year at all, because most flowering trees have had their flowers frozen off. I did get a few black locust flowers, but that was about it.

Sudden intense heat also caused a lot of garden plants to bolt way before they were supposed to, not just for me, but gardeners around the world as well.

So. I'm very upset with global warning for messing up my food security this year. I feel like I need a plan to avoid this kind of hunger period next year, and also for global warming to end, who do I need to dispose of to get this settled? No corporation is worth losing fruit over.
